morning. >> some morning rain. danielle niles tracking it for us. >> in the next couple of hours, the rain is going to advance in. it is going to be a wet morning commute in a lot of spots. the radar show temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s with the rain advancing into wooster county now. a couple showers near bolton. then it does get a little steadier down paxton and deeper yellows up to hubbardston. all of this again moving west to east there's one quick shower right near newton as well. otherwise we're talking about this band coming through from west to east. notice the hour by hour between now and let's say 8:00, 8:30. by 9:00 we're drying out. still some showers all the way from the coastline back down to some downpours from the southshore and cape.

shipping off the coastline. there are some lingering showers over cape code. a lost clouds remain. there may be breaks of sunshine through the interior, especially during the second half of the afternoon. so 60 for the morning rush. have the umbrella, raincoat. upper 60s. a few breaks of sunshine, low 70s for highs today. pretty gloomy rest of the week. we'll talk about it coming up. >> well, breaking overnight, a deadly shooting in jamaica plain. right now police are asking for the shooting happened on center street just before 1:00 a.m. a man was shot several times. police are canvassing the area. if you have any information, call boston police. also this morning, donald trump and hillary clinton go head to head facing off in their first presidential debate. there were plenty of fireworks. >> so did either candidate sway voters? wbz political analyst jon keller

i call it trumped up, trickle down. >> reporter: from the start, clinton was on offense, trump struggled to respond to. >> donald was one of the people who rooted for the housing crisis. he said back in 2006, gee i hope it does collapse, because then can i go in and buy some and make some money. >> that's called business, by the way. >> some country is going to be the clean energy super power of the 21st century. donald thinks that climate change is a hoax, perpetrated by >> i did not. i did not. i do not say that. i do not say that. >> we grip this and deal with it. >> reporter: but trump scored by recalling the disastrous federal investment, a $530 million bath. >> she talks about solar panels, we invested in a solar company, our country, that was a dafter. they lost plenty of money on that one. >> reporter: then it was trump

the biggest tax increases in history. you are going to drive business out. you are regulations are a disaster, my tax cut is the biggest since ronald reagan. >> reporter: their policy differences were stark. but if you you watched on a split screen, another difference was stylistic. clinton was calm and even toned. trump mugged for the camera at times an his voice rose in angerment but whatever the issue, the dueling themes we the same. >> we have no leadership. and honestly that starts with secretary clinton. >> i have a feeling by the end of this evening i'm going to be blamed for everything that's ever happened. >> why not. >> why not. yeah. why not. just join -- join the debate by saying more crazy things. >> she's got experience, but it's bad experience. and this country can't afford to have another four years of that kind of experience. >> we are -- >> this is a man who has called

someone who has said pregnancy is an inconvenience to employers. >> reporter: so who had the better of it? let me say this, trump's polling have come to button-downed detail -- detail approach. that went out early in the debate. his base will like what they saw, but trump needs to grow beyond that base. and while clinton didn't do to change the change the minds skepticism, she certainly dispelled about her stamina and seemed un-i am tim dated. this election may wind on hinging who has the bigger core of support. >> so what did voters think about the first debate? we caught up some students who watched from a packed auditorium at northeastern university. >> it seems to be the professional trump. he's poking and jabbing as much

points. >> clinton has a very uplifting, you know, hopeful message and trump is just doom and gloom. >> they need to relate to people and i feel like hillary's making an effort towards that and donald trump is not. >> i really think that people do like about trump is the way he speaks isn't so polished. >> so who do you think won the debate? you can go to our wbz facebook page and vote. we have the results at the end of our show. nationwide this race is a virtual tie right in massachusetts where democrats historically has an edge, the race seems a little closer than you might expect. our poll shows hillary clinton with a 13 point lead over donald trump with libertarian gary johnson and jill stein far behind. our survey also shows both clinton and trump with low favorability ratings in massachusetts well behind president obama's approval rating. you can see the full results of the poll on our website.

sunday in october. you can watch it live right here on wbz. now to a developing story. the suspect in a shooting at a cvs is under arrest and due in court this morning. police say they caught a man with a loaded gun in boston last night. he will be arraigned on drug and gun charges in roxbury this morning. then he will be transferred to stoughton where he's facing multiple charges, including attempted murder in the shooting of an 18 year old. police say they will test the weapon to see if it's connected to the shooting. a mystery at sea deepens this morning as a young man found alive is about to arrive back in boston. that 22 year old will be questioned by the coast guard when he gets back on shore today. among those questions, what happened to his mother. nathan carman told rescuers their boat was taking on water. he got a life raft and looked

a day later, the 32-foot boat apartnerly sank. the coast guard says there was no distress signal. on sunday a passing freighter found nathan in good condition. the coast guard says there's virtually no chance lynn at that is still alive. they won't resume searching for her. this isn't the first tragedy to hit this family. we learned nathan went missing several years ago after his horse died. he later turned up in va virginia. then in 2013 his grandfather was shot and killed. that crime remains unsolved. controversy. a home condemned. the homeowner living in his van in the driveway and he can't leave. chris bernard was placed on house arrest. he violated his violated his probation from a drunk driving arrest. the house is filthy, invested with bugs, garbage and pet waste. >> it's not bad.

be quite honest with you, because i think the court knew these -- the house had been condemned. >> bernard also has to wear gps monitoring bracelet. the home is under agreement and the sale could close next month. right now the town managers wants to make sure $20,000 in pax tax is paid. one man is arrested twice in the same shift. thomas demar zo was first picked up at 2:30 a.m. breaking into a home. police then tell wbz he allegedly admitted to the crime but said he was sleepwalking. several hours, police called for break-ins that area, they say they found demar zo with the stolen items. he was arrested again by the same officer, this time held without bail. coming up on wbz this morning, some dangerous rides turning heads. >> yeah, the warning after two bicyclists were caught on camera riding through tunnels in

. welcome back. in today's money watch your car may be getting less gas mileage you think, plus the more fallout of the epipen. >> financial markets reacting to the presidential debate. good morning, jill. >> reporter: good morning, chris and brianna. investigators are last night's debate. the mexican peso and dollar are rising. mexico and canada both have very close trading ties with the united states. they're part of nafta and that is a trade agreement that has called the worst deal that the u.s. ever signed. the pharmaceutical company mylan makes 60% more from the sale of its epipen than

says the company pockets $50. the "wall street journal" reports that $100 figure had been reached for the epipen profits even though the company pays a lot less than that in corporate tax. and gas mileage estimates for about one third of new vehicles sold in the united states will fall about a mile per gallon, it's mostly because drivers are loading up on option that's really drag on engines, like heated seats, people are using m conditioning and they are driving faster. chris and brianna. >> chris is guilty, he's raising all those extra things. so you want extra and nice, you lose out on the gas mileage. >> reporter: i'm a fan of the heated seats, i'll tell you that, especially in winter. >> i think it's worth the tradeoff. >> thank you very much, we'll see you next hour. >> and i drive a little fast. >> yeah. so there's goes the gas mileage.

need heated seats. >> need the wipers though. >> i can't believe you're admitting you're a lead foot. >> i'm not a lead foot. >> right out of the parking lot. no. we do need the wipers on today. you want the umbrella and raincoat this morning. it's going to be a wet morning commute in a lot of spots. 61 in boston right now. it is 57 in wooster. just down a degree from the last hour. areas of rain all the way from wooster n polyston, into bolton, littleton a couple of showers, in through westward, too. it is coming down in a good clip. a couple loan showers -- lone showers out of this line. you may get a quick sprinkle from noor wood stretching back up to milton and then into the city of boston. a quick shower coming through. but the steadiest rain comes into the city in the next hour and 20 minutes or so. back edge coming through and crossing 91 in the next hour as

coming through wooster. that will spread east so it's poor timing for the morning commute but it does ship out of here pretty quickly. by 9:00 a.m. lingering rain in eastern massachusetts the tid i didn'test where some showers will -- steadiest where some showers will linger. it's a lot of clouds but also some breaks of sunshine, particularly through the interior. so that will h temperatures in the 70s today. we'll be about 72 in boston. so slightly above average. but that is the last above-average day we have in the seven day forecast. clouds will return tonight. 59 for an overnight low. most of us dip back in the 50s and look at this, tomorrow we may be gain a degree or two, and that is about it. we'll top out in the upper 50s to low 60s, on-shore wind is going to be persistent for the middle and end of the week

of stay in place. see that big counterclockwise spin there, we have a big upper level low, it's going to dive down from the great lakes and stall out and keep us in this persistent pattern of dreary gloomy weather through the middle and end of the week. some drizzle and showers, you'll notice here tomorrow, a little bit of light green showing up. so you'll still want the umbrella or raincoat. there will be drizzle and light rain, same for thursday, the clouds hanging tough sunshine. this rain moves up on friday. so an unsettled stretch here. temperatures only right around 60 through the week. the weekend still unsettled. lingering showers on sunday. >> all right. thank you. a federal civil rights investigation finds evidence of dem nation -- discrimination and harassment alt boston latin school. they violated the civil rights act, by, quote, mishandling

with an electrical court. the investigation found there were two other troubling incidents. the school's former headmaster calls the investigation a purely political, it's why he says he resigned. >> there is no discrimination at boston latin school, the claim there's a civil rights violation on a case that we did handle in which a student was actually punished seemed reaching pretty far. >> boston latin officials have agreed to sweeping reforms, including training for students and staff, hiring a new diversity officer and conducting an annual survey of the race climate. superintendent says the school system is, quote, fully committed to implementing these regulations and making sure any report of racial bias is is addressed quickly. >> he didn't seem worried or look like he was lost and just paddling away. >> a biker caught on camera in a

tunnel, it's dangerous, illegal, and it happened twice this weekend. this is actually new video right here of another biker inside the pru tunnel. nick giovanni spoke with witnesses. >> reporter: on their way out of boston sunday, brad anderson and to pees encountered more than injure standard travel i can. their heads turned over the sight of a cyclist riding along beside them from atop what appeared to b bicycle. >> it's so outrageous that he's doing it's almost funny. >> reporter: and so outrageous, anderson took out his cell phone to record. >> it was more of a shock because to me he was putting his life on the line doing that. >> reporter: hub way agrees, posting a statement on facebook saying in part, it is extremely dangerous and definitely illegal to ride a bike on 93 or any area highway. do not do it.

questioned about the boston marathon bombings is now facing charges. she has been charged with making a false statement to the fbi. the indictment accused really cueses her of lying about a man's whereabouts in the days immediately following a triple murder back in 2011. one day after she was questioned in 2013, her husband was killed by an fbi agent who said he became violent. a salem man sentenced to life in is murder of an army veteran in boston. the man was found guilty last week of shooting and killing stephen perez in a fight back in 2012. during yesterday's sentencing, the victim's family remembered him as a loyal son, brother, and friend. the suspect in a deadly mall shooting in watch state is now charge -- washington state is now charged with murder.

confessed to the crime. they ranged from a teenage cancer survivor to a 95-year-old woman. he is being held on it million dollars bond. the family says he has a history of mental health problems. houston police -- nine people were hurt, one is in criminal condition. the suspect is described as a disgruntled lawyer. police say he was wearing a military-style apeer. he had two weapons and more than 2500 rounds an emotional night as the marlins return to the field just one day after the death of ace pitcher josi fernandez. they hosted the mets last night and the entire team wearing fernandez' number. they plan on retiring the number. top of the first, d gordon leads off the game for miami sending one out of the yard. gordon was crying as he crossed home plate. most of his teammates were, too. marlins would win 7-3.
