the focus on matthew shifting to the north where it could unleash great destructions . >> hurricane matthew pounded the coast with blinding rains and winds that gusted over 100 miles per hour. matthew remains a serious threat as it moves north. >> the worst part is still to come. >> hurricane force winds destroyed the side of a marina in smir na. crashed ashore. officials are worried matthew's storm surge could cause major flooding along the saint john's river. >> the storm surge is significant, ten feet plus waves tfrjts governor is expected to tour the damage today but as you can see from some of the destruction behind me matthew is powerful. >> this is worst hurricane i've ever been in. >> in south carolina the

matthew again. >> yeah, not another hurricane matthew because of the deaths -- over a thousand before they are said and done. there's a look at the eye. strongest winds are right at the eye wall. we have been talking about that the last couple of days. this has everything to do with the impact of the storm. if we go back to yesterday evening, this was a crucial jog. the easterly bend right before tonight and into early this morning, there's another jog that took it right around the bend of cape canaveral until you have damaging wind gusts over 100 miles 100 miles per hour into port cape canaveral over 80 miles per hour. you would have added 20-30 miles per hour with a ten mile west jog. here's the track through the

it may make land fall in south carolina by tomorrow. it takes a dive towards the south and comes back towards florida. however, it's not expected to be strong. good news on the front, it can be additional rain. the big rain is in south carolina and north carolina and fresh flood water is an issue over the next 24 hours. pamela standing by in the weather center with a look at the east coast tonight. >> since we st this hurricane, what it is -- you have a hurricane just off the coast right and that hurricane has cyclone winds with pressure and the sea level goes higher and higher depending on where the storm stays off shore. depending on the cycle you can be talking about several feet of storm surge. so we want to show you pictures from saint august florida and the sea that we dealt with.

where investigators are searching for a stolen car like this one in connection with a deadly home invasion where an elderly man was murdered and his wife is in the hospital tonight. christina haguer is live tonight and i know you spoke with the woman's son today. >> i spoke with joanna fischer's son, the woman who survived the attack in her home and likely witnessed the murder of her husband. at the crime scene clean up crew moved in and out of the house where 95-year old thomas hardy was murdered. his 77-year old wheelchair bound wife joanna fischer seriously injured in their home in orange. police now looking for their stolen 2003 toyota corolla plate number mm 949. >> they're cowards and a can't

breaking news tonight. the department of homeland security saying russia is trying to interfere with the u.s. elections. the agency says it's confident that the country is behind the recent political hacks with e- mails sent to sites like wiki leaks. homeland security urges state and local officials to be vigilant. there was no way to get this under control before the man crashed arlington. the driver of this van forgot to put it in park and he walked away and the van started rolling. the van knocked him over. the passenger tried to stop the van but he couldn't do it either and got hurt. he went through a busy intersection only stopping when it hit the front of the home. . >> just a surprise that the truck or van had made it here
