everybody either. 55 in boston right now. 50 in manchester, same in taunton, low 50s right now in worcester. a couple of the cooler spots are in the 40, concord. there are some low level clouds, touch of fog in a few spots. it's a changeable type of weather day because the low clouds will give way to breaks of sunshine through early afternoon. there maybe an showers pushing into worcester county. watch what happens metro west gets a shower or 2, but most of us staying dry for a lot of the day today with clearing coming in after that. so 50s to start, 65 by lunchtime with some breaks of sun a light breeze and a few showers for the ride home generally north and west of boston, mild with temperatures near 70 degrees cooler weather is going to move in. i'll let you know how long

throughout the evening. last night this street just before 11:00 was a chaotic fire fight however. in the end 2 officers were shot multiple times. they were right now in extremely critical condition. in fact as of 2:30 this morning they were both in surgery at massachusetts general hospital. the suspect a 33-year old resident of the street has passed away. commissioner evans says this began with a domestic call at at 136 gladstone. 2 male roommates were in an argument. when they arrived evans says they were met by a suspect with some sort of assault rifle wearing a vest. on the radio police heard shots had been fired and an officer was down. a nearby tactical unit was quick to arrive and a fire fight erupted here. the commissioner says his 2 officers were shot multiple times and are in

officer down. several other officers being outside proceeded inside. they engaged further in an exchange of gunfire. 2 of the officers dragged their fellow officers out of the line of fire. >> reporter: i've been here since last night. i was speaking with residents here last night, again this morning including a couple of friends who found themselves trapped in a car on this street when shots rang out. . >> it was rapid. it wasn't like one at a time, it was like pop pop pop pop pop. >> at first i was like i didn't understand. and then i had him shut off the car able heard and i was like that's gunshots and as soon as i said that all the police started coming up the street. >> i was in fear move life and i don't ever want to experience that again. . >> reporter: one of these officers is a 28-year veteran of the department, the other a

also 9 other officers who are right now being treated for minor injuries and stress. . >> and both of the officers shot taken to the hospital overnight in very critical condition undergoing surgery. >> let's get to mass general with the latest. >> reporter: commissioner evans says these officers have very serious wounds and are in extremely criticaldi multiple blood transfusions and undergoing surgery here at mass general hospital this morning. one of those officers is a 28-year member of the boston police, the other has been with the department for about 12 years when they responded for a domestic incident last night a man opened fire on them using an assault rifle. other officers responded and dragged the wounded officers out of the line of fire and into a safe place so they can begin applying first aid.

shot multiple times and fighting for their lives. we heard many stories from people who were in the middle of that shelter in place. we spoke to 2 of them. take a listen to what they heard and saw. . >> it's scary. and i know people that have spouses that are police officers. . >> while i was in the house i got a phone call my girlfriend was saying there was gunshots coming outside. so i ran out of the house and there. there was mad swat ran ran ran, get off the street, get off the street. >> reporter: and police lifted that shelter in place several hours ago but people still digesting exactly what happened. meanwhile mayor walsh commended the community for their support. >> it was shocking for the neighborhood and people were concerned when this was going on and worried about what was happening in the neighborhood. so i want to ask the public

clear the circumstances beyond that are still being investigated. >> yesterday investigators including the fbi went to a hartford apartment building that neighbors say the student and other flight school students lived in. campaign 2016 now donald trump is accusing the new york times of libel. the newspaper interviewed 2 women who say trump inappropriately touched them. one woman says she was groped by trump aboard a plane more than 30 years ago. says he kissed her without her permission in 2005. trump's lawyer sent a letter to the times calling the article reckless threatens legal action demanded an apology and asked that the article be taken down immediately. meanwhile wikileaks posted another 1,900 emails yesterday reportedly coming from the hacked account of clinton campaign chairman. in one reported exchange top aide wrote

police commissioner evans says the suspect had some sort of assault rifle and wearing a vest. he was killed by officers. the 2 officers in the hospital are both men. one is a 28-year old veteran -- a 28-year veteran the other has been on the force for 12 years. they were both in surgery. police are asking for prayers for those officers. we'll with continue to follow this story throughout the morning. and we' >> a powerful hurricane headed to the island right now. danielle is watching all of these developments. >> this is a life-threatening situation for bermuda. nicole is a category 4 hurricane with 130-mile per hour bin spinning about 100 miles south and west of bermuda right now. already being impacted for several hours by tropical storm force wind gusts now the bands of rain continue to impact the island.

the next several hours. after that nicole is going to continue to move north and east and will weaken over the next several days as we head into the upcoming weekend, any impacts on the eastern seaboard there will be some building swell. 55 in boston right now, 50 in taunton, 50 in manchester, 52 in worcester. so some of the cooler spots are in the 40s this morning but not nearly as cold as the pastew spots. we also have some low level clouds. there may be a spotty shower or 2 along the coast, but most of us it's a dry start today. we're waiting for this band of rain back into western new york and pennsylvania right now. this is a front that will approach from west to east. ahead of the front we get warm, 65 to 70 degrees today. i do think there will be peaks of sunshine here and there and a lot of the day will be dry.

of a worker. in another case he stole a customer's purse. >> put the knife [indiscernible] and i wanted the money and put the clients on the floor. >> yesterday police found the suspected getaway car. . new details this morning about a disturbing case about sexual assault in the south end. police say the man wanted for attacking 2 women in their apart being held without bail. 52-year old brown hid his face in court yesterday. police say he broke into an apartment early tuesday morning, tied both women up then blindfolded and gagged one of them before attacking her. officers say he left a prescription medication bottle with his name on it at the home and that's how police were able to identify them as the suspect. officers say brown is a level 3 convicted rapist who served

following that breaking news we've been telling you about all morning 2 boston police officers were shot in the line of duty they're in the hospital this morning in extremely critical condition. they respond today a domestic call just before 11 last night. the police commissioner says the he was killed by officers. we of course will stay on top of this story throughout the day and bring you any new information as soon as we get it. we're talking about hurricane nicole. >> next few hours in bermuda are going to be critical. category 4 major hurricane right now. our weather at home is quiet. temperatures will be around 70 this afternoon and there will be a couple of evening showers but i think most of us won't see them. it will be north and west of boston.
