a dig moon overnight. the big full moon is lighting up the landscape not quite as cool as yesterday but still chilly spot that's the wbz weather bug network. 35 there but in dover the middle school is 43 and on the south west coast of new england starting to pick up so 48 degrees groton, connecticut is 60 there, 32 in norwood and 53 in province town. temperatures are all over the place. essentially clear skies in most spots. there is a lot of cloudiness off to the north and west and starting to spill in here and we will see that this afternoon. most of the sunshine turning cloudier and breezier this afternoon up around71 degrees

cape cod. more weather in a few minutes. >> thank you very much. breaking overnight part of the interstate is closed northbound between 16 and 17. police are on the scene but you should use caution in that area. we'll continue to monitor the situation and bring you updates as soon as they become available. we begin with a developing story this morning police looking for the gunman who wounded a 2-year-old girl in roxbury saturday afternoon while trying to child's father. police say the little girl's dad is a gang member and not cooperating. a consult bullet went through the child's leg and right into her hand. >> i heard one pop and i thought it was a gunshot then going bang bang bang bang bang. >> gunfire erupted in broad daylight striking a two-year- old girl in her carseat.

through her hand and leg. >> the baby appears to be fine. i went down and visited with the baby. obviously she's crying but she's alert. >> she was with her father who police say was the intended target. >> obviously the father here is a known gang kid to us who also is not telling us the truth of what happened here and it's unfortunate. >> investigators say the suspect who has a beard was driving a gray and scooter when he opened fire. city council man jackson is now pleading for the public's help. >> absolutely unacceptable a young person in broad daylight in their neighborhood can't just be a child. a two-year-old should never be in harm's way. >> this as the neighborhood demands a change. >> i was here about ten days ago unfortunately when we had

here at dearborn, little kids on the school bus. we put a lot of visibility but we can't be here all the time. >> the little girl is recovering and child services are very gooding the case. wbz this morning. >> an update now on the two officers shot in east boston. we learned one of them is recovering after more surgery saturday. we are also told commissioner evans visited officer richardson saturday morning. he is recovering on friday and said to be in good spirits. both were ambushed by kirk figueroa wednesday night while answering a domestic disturbance call. a wrong way driver facing charges of drunk driving and reckless conduct. the 28-year-old was driving his cadillac the wrong way through

had to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting him head on. he ended up crashing into a guardrail. crews pulled the woman's car from a pond friday. good samaritans jumped into the water to save her from the sinking vehicle. paul burton spoke with one of the rescuers and the woman's husband. >> she just floored it and it hit pretty hard. >> caesar peru re scene of a dramatic rescue he performed on friday as a car is removed from spy pond he remembers her accidentally driving her car too the water. >> she put it into drive, hit the gas and jumped the curb and she panicked. >> i grabbed her hand. >> he saw her banging on her window frantically. he was the first to jump in with his clothes on.

water was pouring into the car. >> you got to come out. [screaming] >> he barely grabbed her by one hand to pull her away from the vehicle which quickly sank about 40 feet. >> the force was so strong that she was literally getting ripped out of my hands and i wasn't able to hold onto her. >> i lost her. >> somebody had to help save her. >> seconds later two other rescuers david frazier and ken chapman also swam out to help. >> you could see she didn't think she was going to live. >> it took all three men to bring her back to shore. she was treated for mild hypothermia and taken to the hospital. >> she was saying thank you jesus. >> we held hands and had a short prayer and they took her away. >> the good lord with was her. >> helen wants to thank her rescuers personally. >> we were just here at the right time and she's alive so

places close to or justice a little bit over 60 away from the ocean with some cloudiness at times yesterday. we showed you this map yesterday and i'm still going to go with it now. looking at four days of october 16 through 19 i'm predicting it's going to be 11 today, 74 tomorrow. 83 on tuesday and 79 on wednesday. now the 18th of october i think we may have a shot a pretty good one of having a new record the old record back in 1947 and these were the core responding days october 16 through 19 in 1947 that was a really warm week. 83. 89 was a record high temperature on october 17 then 82 so a shot of breaking that record on tuesday. where is that all coming from? it's coming from the warmth in the middle part of the nation. 84 in topeka to st. louis, 82

afternoon assuming we get rid of the clouds which we'll have tuesday morning. how is that going to get here? there's been a lot of jet energy out west producing impulse after impulse in the west. one of those is going push and shove the warm air up into the northeast so we will have it here. yesterday the high pressure system gave us cold weather and still happening around. meantime right off the map down graded a little bit briefly yesterday and then reintensified back into hurricane status of top winds of 85 miles per hour this morning. maybe generating bigger swells at the coastline the next couple of days. 32 in nashville, 47 boston and 60 in new london, connecticut. how is everything going in baker lake?

humid weather is coming our way as well. this afternoon should be a great afternoon down in gillette of the we'll have clouds starting to roll in and more and more clouds but right around 70 may go as high as 71 there. as we trace the time going up through the 50s this morning and more clouds during the afternoon hours. varying amounts of high clouds not too much and temperatures tonight will be around upper tomorrow it looks like we'll have temperatures going up into the lower 70s or so with vary amounts of clouds and slight chance of a shower. there's 83 i'm forecasting in boston on tuesday. 68 on the cape where the wind coming up there it's going to be gusty and cooler at the end of the week with showers coming in thursday and friday. that's it for now. >> barry thank you. extensive flooding in oregon as

regroup. winds will get close to 80 miles per hour. >> fierce winds are whipping through the pacific northwest as the most potent part of this storm system comes on shore. >> oh my gosh! . >> on friday an ef2 tornado with 125 miles per hour winds tore through the coastal town of oregon up rooting trees downing power lines and damaging bill panos saw it happen. >> it looked like the wizard of oz. that's what it looked like. things were just moving like this. then you could see the trees snapping like twigs. >> streets turned into rivers as several inches of rain flooded parts of the city. seattle has now had more rainfall in the past two days it got in the previous three months combined. this monster of a storm system

barry burbank is standing by. not too bad barry good morning. >> quite available around the region. some places in the 30s. a couple spots near 60. can you believe we have a wide range of temperature? let's go to the weather bug network and let's go to millville at the elementary school out there at 43 degrees. let's go to mansfield the high school at 35 and on the cape in marion it's 41 degrees but take bit of a breeze coming off the water provincetown is 53, newport at 51. a south west breeze coming up at g roton and new london area at 60 degrees while it's 36 in pittsburgh and 30 in north but the temperatures are all about the same in the afternoon closer to 71. mostly clear with the big moon lighting up the landscape

just a fetch weeks the state flips the switch on all electronic tolling and the i team just discovered it might be big cakes for massachusetts drivers. >> the prices for the new electronic tolling system behind me mass dot hired a consultant but the state didn't want to give up a copy of that contract to the i team because it reveals what other big changes could be coming down the pike. looming over drivers. >> what's happening? is big brother watching? >> yes these cameras will cap your easy pass or snap a photo and send you a bill in the mail. the new system is revenue neutral. >> this is not an increase. >> but the i team discovered a document that could change that. buried in a contract that helped to set tolling prices a request to also study things

the levels have just taken a bad, bad dive here with this extreme drought we've had go on. it has been the area of extreme directing your attention has shrunk a little bit from what it was the previous week but never the less still in the red zone here so lots and lots of rain and is there anything coming. probably not very much at the beginning of this week but we may get a reasonable amount of rain towards the end. we need inches and inches of rain to help us get looking at warm weather this week and comparing the next four days starting today with the same four days 16th through the 19th of october in 1947 the year it was very warm and contained two record high temperatures the 17th and 18 18th. this is going to be a warm week and i think the temperature on tuesday on the 18th is a pretty good chance that we will be at least record tying but i'm going to say 83 a record

october 18. where is the warmth coming from? all of this warm air building in the central part of the nation heading our way thanks to all of these systems which have been crashing into the pacific northwest and giving them bouts of really nasty stormy conditions from time to time. some of this jet energy is going to come along and shove the warm air into the northeast and that's what we are going to be having here and today will be the beginning of the mild weather but tuesday is going to be th yesterday has actually shifted to the south. but yesterday was the coldest morning. looking way out in the atlantic hurricane nicole is still out there producing winds top winds sustained at 85 miles per hour still generating big waves in the atlantic and a few of those swells may be coming onto the new england coastline as well for the next couple of days. temperatures now ranging from a

cooling conditions at the airport there. 34 nashville, 36 in bedford but 47 in boston and just off the map in new london, connecticut was 60 and 51 in nantucket with the wind coming up off the water there and 53 in provincetown. looking high temperatures this afternoon near or a little over 70. 70 to 71 maybe an isolated 72 in the usual warm zone right in here. the meantime on the south coast going to be mainly 60s here because that south west wind is going to be getting busier with time. it will be a breezy afternoon down at gillette stadium with clouds starting to roll in at 70 degrees or so. tonight's lows upper 50s to almost 60. a very mild night coming up tonight as we have the beginning of this warming trend. the jet stream will allow it to come right up here as you can see. my seven day forecast reflects

front starts to sag in and we get rain around here. looks like maybe some decent amount of rain especially on friday and the rain will end early on saturday on the cape. a gusty wind on saturday and a high of only 54. until then warm days ahead as you can see maxing out on tuesday with a potential record high in boston of 83 but cooler on the cape. here's the trivia. which of the following has the greatest impact on acorn wet summer, a dry windy fall or a mild snowy winter? >> this is a tough one. >> it is but you always talk about your acorns and when you don't have them and why. >> i've got them this year. >> because you are an acorn guy. >> i hate acorns let me tell you that. the answer is? >> c? >> a. the cold wet spring seems to cut down.

famed wine is made but one of these vineyards is a bit different. just listen. the grapes here are serenaded all day every day by classical music. john car loe started bumping mozart into a section of his vineyard and found the vines chooser to the music grew bigger and towards the of the sound. his son is another wine maker who sounds more like a scientist. >> the grapes close to the speaker have the highest sugar content so we believe in this idea. >> it wasn't long before this idea peaked the interest of scientists and turned this vineyard into a laboratory. >> when you first heard about this guy growing grapes and playing music what did you think? >> that he was another crazy
