police say were going the wrong way on 495. >> the preliminary investigation leaves investigators to believe that the wrong way operator vehicle struck the northbound vehicle head on. the vehicle became engulfed in fire. >> reporter: it was after midnight last night. the driver of the white infinity hit the mercury with the fo and the mercury bursted into flames. >> mile marker 8 wrong way crash. >> middleboro firefighters were on the scene within minutes. >> none of the fatalities are pleasant for us but this was exceptionally horrific for our guys and for the families involved. >> police believe the infinity was on the highway for a few minutes when it crashed head on

hospitalized. on 495 in mans field, both draifrs were pronounced dead at the scene. earlier this year the eye team looked into what can be done to prevent wrong way crashes and they discovered four years ago federal transportation officials recommended lowering the wrong way and do not enter signs to make them easier to see at night from a vehicle. at last check, that project was still in progress. we did reach today for an update but did not hear back. rhode island installed a sensor system that notifies police of a wrong way driver but massachusetts did not buy that because it was too expensive. breaking news this evening the freak accident that apparently killed a new hampshire teenager is now leading to some major safety

the memorial for the 16- year old girl killed in nashua, the sewer drain has been recovered. nashua city officials working to announce others are secure. multiple crews are working secure. all sewer covers were tampered with bolts and stainless steel covers were heavier and more durable. high school sophomore senior was reported missing on saturday morning when he didn't return home after leaving a friend's house during a heavy rainstorm. state police found a body in the merrimack river ten miles

from a large volume of water. . now to a developing story, a man recovering now after someone shot him in the head near boston medical center. police say he's a 25-year old man standing by a fence when another man rode up on a bicycle and pulled the trigger. officials haven't released the victim's name. police are hoping surveillance cameras will lead them to suspect. the county down is on now -- -- countdown. long lines before the official switch over to all electronic tolling. christina haguer spent the day with mass dot who gai us an up close look at what this means to have the change over.
