live from the channel 4 studios in boston, this is wbz news at noon. we begin with breaking news this noon, police searching for suspects, who they say grow a woman on a bicycle path. >> police tell us it happened on the trail near the old train tracks off of lafayette street. the police are investigating. we will bring you information as soon as it comes into the newsroom. boston police want help to track down a man who tried to kidnap a little girl at a bus stop the neighbors heard the girl screaming for help. good afternoon. i'm kate merrill. >> i am chris mckinnon. thank you for joining us. a woman saw was happy and she ran to help the girl. nicole jacobs is live in roxbury with the story. >> reporter: that young girl

happened fortunately, for her, a woman with a keen intuition, not far away, was right where she needed to be. sometimes you just have a hunch. >> they were walking behind me and i don't know what may be turnaround. >> reporter: valerie pearson followed her intuition and that is a good thing. >> i saw the little girl's body jumping. >> reporter: had she not -- but i wanted to the back of the alley and i could hear her screaming and hollering. >> reporter: who knows what the outcome may have been in this alleyway. >> i ran back there and i did not know what to do. so i started screaming. >> reporter: a girl says that she was grabbed from behind before dawn on tuesday as she made her way to school and her stepfather says -- but she was walking towards the bus. and she does she does it every morning. >> reporter: it was near the bus stop where the cameras were rolling, capturing the image of the van police call a person of

>> reporter: however it was, little girl was able to run away and come unfortunately the suspect. >> she is shaken out. >> reporter: much like most would see on television, but this scare played out in person. >> i just think god that i was there to help her. >> reporter: for the timing of that early morning hodge, she could not ignore. that surveillance photograph that police were able to get that that man is a person of interest. they are hoping that anyone with information will come forward. live in roxbury, this afternoon, nicole jacobs, wbz news. a stabbing in everett overnight and officers say that a person was stabbed around bid not -- around midnight the victim is out of the hospital and no word on her best. a body found in south

scene a marine park where they say a man's body was found off of the boulevard on the road leading to castle island. the state medical examiner is on the scene and police are trying to figure out if the death is suspicious. a live look outside, noon, and when you woke up -- it was a little more like winter then fall back. many of us are grabbing our winter coats and we work -- we could actually see snow in some spotto west or north of boston. boston is going to be more of a rain event for us tomorrow. low temperatures this morning, 37 degrees in boston, 29 worcester, starting out at a 29 at a $29 and nvidia -- and invigorating start to the day. 46 in boston, 45 manchester and 45 degrees in lawrence. later today, the temperatures around 48 and the wind is from the northwest, keeping the temperatures rather low for this time of the year. there are some son -- a mix of sun and clouds for the afternoon, and satellite and

on the cape with more moving in from the north and west and we are dry across massachusetts but the next the system moves in as we get into late tomorrow and for friday morning. the system that we are trng accumulation. i will show you the latest map and we will go through the hour by hour time with the rain chance and a snake at the holiday forecast in just a bit. i appreciate it. investigators are trying to figure out what caused a massive fire in everett. crews arrived at 28 floyd street to find the fire at the triple-decker and crews from boston, chelsea, summerville and malden were there to help. everyone inside got out and the firefighters evacuated people in neighboring buildings as well. >> they got here quick. i am glad for the city. i'm glad for my neighbors. i'm glad for everybody that came because i do not know where we would be if it was not for them. >> 15 people are staying at a nearby hotel thanks to the red cross. no one was hurt although the fire melted a firefighter hose.

several cases of moms are prompting a -- and alert and they are at the campus for an a student tested positive at framingham state university up and we have learned that that student is being treated in isolation while the university checked immunization records of all of the remains of classmates. mumps is highly contagious. a school bus told out of a quincy home last night eight hours after crashed with students on board the street is open this noon and the quincy police department says that 32 kids were on the bus, five taken to the hospital, for minor injuries. we are learning about this does the home that the bus crashed into his okay. the bus driver clifton suv, hit a fire hydrant and telephone pole and a mailbox. before crashing into the house. it was going really fast

catching a flight out of boston logan airport. this is the first time canines are used for his passenger screening, specially trained to detect the greatest threat to transportation hubs, explosives. >> they have had explosive detection canines but they are being -- of these canines are being used exclusively on passenger screenings, so screening passengers as opposed to traditional explosive detection canines that are used to detect may be an unattended bag or vehicle at the curbside. >> reporter: they detect explosives by analyzing the air coming off of the person per you can watch as the decoy walks through how much has been changes -- she picks up a suspicious sign for the handler says about the connection is a crucial component into the screening. >> you can see the excitement coming up from herbert and what she will do -- she will try to explain to me that i have something. i want to play it because i found it. >> they provide a great deterrent, a great way to help protect and serve the people at logan international airport. wherever we might be deployed. >> reporter: this program is rolling out nationwide. there are currently 330 passenger screening k-9 teams across the country.

striking cafeteria workers are voting on a deal. they reached a tentative agreement early yesterday morning. no details about it have been released but the president told the harvard crimson that it accomplished all of our goals for the voting results will be announced tonight. halls tomorrow and normal operations could resume on monday. turning to the campaign, we are less than two weeks from the election but donald trump is taking a break to open a hotel to located not far from the white house. this is the hillary clinton campaign -- on her 69th birthday. craig boswell reports. >> reporter: donald trump is opening his luxury hotel in washington dc. the morning ceremony at the trump international hotel also provided a state for protesters. >> it is up to the donald trump organization who gets to stand on this public plaza. >> reporter: at the short break from a campaign trail comes as early voting is underway in many states. but there are 13 days left and

trump unfavorable and 61% said the same thing about hillary clinton. charlie baker is starring in an advertisement supporting the charter school ballot question. massachusetts has many great public schools. >> the governor openly supports ballot question 2 that would increase the number of charter schools allowed in the state. and opposition group says that the measure is funded by, quote, billionaires and claims that additional charter school would take money away from districts all of this day. marty walsh is going to washington dc. on the agenda, free community college. this morning he spoke at a panel hosted by dr. jill biden and white house officials but the mayor promised low income students graduating from boston public schools with at least a

around. in fact, it will be a cold night ahead with temperatures in the 20s and 30s and significant rainfall chances late on thursday, some snow and mix in the higher elevations but mainly rain again in the eastern half of massachusetts. it is not a washout but there are showers that we are tracking for the weekend into the howling forecast temperatures right now come in the 40s, 46 in boston, and the ocean temperature, 57, and 45 degrees in manchester, 45 lawrence and wister and 40 degrees after we have the low temperatures in the 20s and 30s. the wind has continue to stay strong from the north and west and we have an area of high pressure outside of their area and because of that airflow from the north and west, we keep the cold temperatures around and it is a biting wind with gusts between 20 and 25, creating a wind chill factor and the temperature, 42, 31 and wister, feeling more like 39 in manchester so maybe an extra layer as you go out and about if you have not been out already, feeling similar to what we had yesterday.

clouds and high temperatures for the rest of us in the upper 40s. here are some 50 degree temperatures on the map. new bedford, 50, worcester, 44 for the high temperature and overnight, 36 degrees under partly cloudy skies and in the suburbs, much colder, 26 to 32 so widespread frost, especially where you are blocked from that north and northwest breeze. satellite and radar, i want to show you that we have more clouds developing, dental massachusetts and the clouds will stick around for much of the evening but the main event is still out to the west across the midwest and the great lakes, producing some rain but eventually we will get colder air along the system and especially in the higher elevations while we have snow chances. the hour by hour time, 5:00 p.m., we are dry and maybe some showers moving in as we have the onshore flow for the first part of thursday. most of us will be dry and then the system starts to barrel towards us for thursday afternoon and evening. the snow, primarily in the berkshires, the higher revelation -- elevation with a little bit of a wintry mix but a cold and icy rain across

but it will feel uncomfortable and 5:00 a.m., friday, decent rainfall totals, maybe 1 inch to 2 inches, after the system moves out. all in all, with the snow fog, 1 inch to 3 inches of accumulation, some flakes across wister county and all rate expected once you get inside the 495. the potential is 1 inch to 2 inches and the wind will be a factor. especially friday morning. winds gusty between 40, up to 55 miles per hour time. the seven-day forecast, temperatures nice and chilly for wednesday and thursday, the 40s, friday, 55 and we get through that snow and rain event, and the weekend -- it is looking okay but spot showers saturday and sunday at highs in the 50s at halloween is looking dry but a chilly 52 degrees. back to you. a local celebrity breaks a world record we learn if justin timberlake will face charges

no passengers reported being sick and the airline is investigating. dealt is making it easier to track her luggage and make sure that you end up with it when you land. the phi delta mobile app will show you a view of the last place that your baggage was scanned. it is already in place at airports in the usa were delta flies and the airline is planning to add international locations soon. it appears that justin timberlake will not face charges for taking a selfie while voting tennessee on monday. it is against the law that stated to take photographs or videos inside the polling locations but the d.a office says that they are not investigating. speaking of selfies, a new world record goes to dorchester donnie wahlberg who took the most in three minutes doing a new kids on the block crews. 122 photographs were taken and confirmed by the guinness book of world records.

my kids. when i hear arguments that massachusetts needs more charter schools, i think: what about the students in all of our schools? every new charter takes away more money from the existing public schools. that's 400 million dollars, just last year. we can't afford to drain even more money from our kids' schools because they're already losing so much. i'm not just standing up for my own kids; i'm fighting for yours, too.
