version of what happened to her emotionally disturbed son. wbz's paul burton is live in the south end for us with this developing story. paul. >> reporter: ken, the mother says she was standing inside the home right by her son when she said he was shot we police -- shot by police. tonight she's speaking out her son's death is not justified. both ets and the officers lives were being threatened and they >> they shot my son, right next to me. >> reporter: hope coleman says the loss of her son is to tough to bear. >> i'm not going to see my baby no more. >> reporter: investigators say 31-year-old terrance coleman was shot to death by police after emts and officers responded to a call on the south end. his mother called for help because she says her son was emotionally disturbed and had a history of suffering from paranoia and schizophrenia. >> at some point, the individual

started to go at the ems personnel. our officers who were outside heard the commotion, they went in and he started to come at the officer. at that point, they left them no choice, they fired, and unfortunately they had to take this young individual's life. >> the coleman tells a different story. she says she was in the hallway with when police came rushing in. >> and they just bust in, knocked me down. my son down. i'm right there. he had a knife and all this, that's not true. >> reporter: the officers were not wearing body cameras and this particular situation, commissioner evans said she had to use lee that will force. >> i don't think a taser would have probably saved those ems lives, or the officers live. we can always monday morning quarterback, but this threat was very real. >> i want my son back. i want my son back. >> coleman says all she wanted

>> they can go home to their son, but i can't. i want to help my son. >> reporter: doctors and emts were treated at the scene for minor injuries. they were taken to the hospital and later treated and released. the two officers involved in the shooting have been put on paid administrative leave, meaning while the d.a.'s office is investigating the shooting. we're live in boston tonight, i'm paul burton wbz news. >> paul, thanks. we are all bracing for the monday morning commute. it will be the first under open roll tolling as c the switch over to electronic polls. they've been tearing down those old-fashioned toll plazas since friday. wbz' jim smith is live in westin where demolition is underway. and jim, tomorrow morning is likely to include some confusion. >> reporter: well, ken, let's face it, there's bound to be at least some confusion but massdot is doing all it can to get us ready for this. meanwhile, take a look at here, despite some heavy rain right

simple, tomorrow morning, leave yourself some extra time. >> i think it's going to be crazy. >> reporter: sunday was a workday for demolition crews getting rid of the old toll booths trying to clear the way for the new system. yes, this all did officially start friday night, but monday morning, that's the first real test. smart commuters will get an early start. >> everybody zooming past me so i hope i get here before them so i have to leave early monday morning. crazy. i think people you know hear these things but it goes in one ear and out the other. >> reporter: but state officials are determined to make sure the message does get through. >> there's going to be a lot of activity. there's less road in which for people to travel than there used to. we're reminding people to obey the 15 mile an hour limit through these old toll areas which are now construction areas. stay in your lane and do not stop at these old legacy toll

costumes. you don't need the umbrella, though. unless you're dressing up as a meteorologist, why not? here's a live look at radar. we have some showers moving across the area. pockets of steady rain still falling over boston, medford, the northshore, all the way down to the southshore and some areas of yellow here indicating heavier rain over quincy and weymouth. this all moving to the east as we go to the south and west of here, moving towards sharon and south coast, the islands getting some steady rain. here's the big picture. once we get this little push of rain out of here in the next few hours, we're done for quite some time and the colder air takes over. by the way we have some lightning showing up to our south. we think the thunderstorms will stay just to the south of the islands. hour by hour forecast, overnight tonight, notice 9:00 we're still dealing with the rain. so keep that umbrella handy if you're out for dinner, late

then moving offshore as we go through your overnight forecast monday morning starting off with clouds along the coastline, but nice and clear inland. and those mostly sunny skies take over the boston area as well with clouds langering on the cape and islands. but at best, we'll be all dry here for monday evening. it's looking good for trick-or-treaters there. just chilly. today we had 65 degrees for the high temperature in boston. we had more sunshine and that's what helped to boost those temperatures to j average high. 57 this time of year. now we're back to 55 in boston. 51 in laurens. overnight, temperatures dipping to the 30s for some as we clear out the rain, the clouds, and we get that northwest air flow, easily falling into the mid and upper 30s in central wooster county and some 40s once you get farther to the south and east across cape cod. high temperatures tomorrow, not warming up too much, we'll be right around 50 degrees from boston to laurens to even
