virginia overnight for justice of a rough arrest of a students there. willie has the latest. good morning to you. >> good morning guys. this happened outside a bar of the campus of the uva. that student needed ten stitches to the head. now the governor wants virginia state police to take a very close look at what happened. >> hey, he's bleeding. joey's head's bleeding. joey's head is bleeding. >> this newspaper shows officers with the state's department of control arresting martisse johnson outside an irish pub early wednesday morning. >> i go to uva, i go to uva. >> johnson is seen on the ground yelling as officers handcuff him. >> i go to uva, you [ bleep ] racists. why is this happening? >> the abc officers say 20-year-old johnson, a member of the honor committee, was

detained after refusing entry to the bar. charging him on two counts the virginia department of abc saying in a statement, a determination was made by the agents to further detain the individual based on their observations and further questioning. in the course of an arrest being paid the arrested individuals sustained injuries. >> thank god martisse is able to stand here today. >> overnight about 1,000 students gathered on uva's campus demanding justice for johnson in a protest mostly peaceful with a few isolated first-hands. >> get out of the street. >> johnson, who received ten stitches following his arrest spoke at the event. >> we deserve to respect each other, especially in times like this. thank you. >> the department of alcoholic beverage control says it will now assist in this investigation and the two agents currently restricted to administrative

duties. >> those pictures say a lot. thank you very much. meantime with robert further on suicide watch, the investigation is shedding new light on his arrest for murder. nbc's stephanie gosk is in new orleans. once again, good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning, matt. police believe robert durst is worth and estimated $100 million. in the months leading up to his arrest he was withdrawing large sums of cash $9,000 each time he made a withdrawal. by the time police caught up with him in that hotel room they say he was getting ready to run. days before his arrest robert durst used a fake i.d. to check into this new orleans marriott. when police searched his hotel room they found more than $40,000 in cash a loaded revolver and a rubber mask. those details are revealed in a search warrant executed three days later at further's home in houston. in it they believe their search will provide evidence for

preparations to flee from law enforcement. to avoid prosecution for the murder of susan berman. berman served as a spokesperson for her millionaire friend when he was reign arraigned for the first death of his wife kathy. susan berman was gunned down in her home just as she was to talk to authorities about the cold case. in the hbo documentary "the jynx" producers confronted him with a letter he wrote to berman before her death. >> did you write the cadaver note? >> no i didn't write the cadaver note. >> explaining the similarities in it and an anonymous letter. >> the same misspelling. >> can you vel tell me which one you didn't write? >> no. >> as early as 2003, handwriting anal cysts conclude. it is probably durst is the writer of the cadaver letter.

in 2013 they identified him as the author of the cadaver and envelope. they say it's hard to definitively connect durs to the the murder. >> absolutely. the only thing they can do for certain is place him in the state of california. it's an awfully big state. >> when they raided his home they found two books about him, which claims he is a serial killer. >> the fact that he september them all these years struck a chord. >> reporter: today he remains behind bars. the lead defender for durst calls handwriting analysis in his words junk science. he points out investigators in the berman case once identified a totally different suspect using that same letter. meanwhile, sources close to the investigation are telling nbc news authorities in l.a. and new york are reaching out to other cities where durst may have worked or lived and are

asking people to lock another their missing person's list and see if they see any link to robert durst. >> thank you so many forensic and liam twists and turns in this one. >> right. which leads us to lisa bloom, analyst, i will start with the fact that robert durs is the on suicide watch as we understand it in this jail. yet, his own defense lawyer tells the washington post he's in good spirits. he talked to him. what do you make of that? >> his defense attorney says he does not think he is legally insane which is interesting. it seems like perhaps he's setting himself up for an insanity defense. anybody that watched "the jynx" as i did, may think the guy has some issues. >> the legal affidavit to search his home has a lot of revelations. according to police he had a fake i.d. a gun, a la tex mask and $42,000 bucks in cash. is that the kind of evidence that ultimately could come into

trial to show consciousness of guilt? >> absolutely. it also planted his bail hearing. all of that adds up to somebody who sure looks like he is planning to flee somebody in the past who used cash to get around to evade the law. i think that will be the argument. other interesting wrinkle. he had three books in his possession at the time of his ae rest. all about the disappearance of his former wife kathy durst. what do you make of that one? >> i think he wants to know what the arguments against him. the books put that altogether clearly. when you watch "the jynx" you you can see he was ready for this handwriting issue. in california handwriting analysis is accepted. it's controversial nationwide. here the supreme court has said it is admissible. it has been used many many times. >> you watch a television show.l one thing, a court of lies totally different. do you consider this to be an

uphill battle for prosecutors? >> it sure is. savannah he has the best team. he has beat one murder wrap. he can afford the best experts and jury consultants. they will pour over everything. in this police report that's just released. there is this issue where police said somebody else's handwriting matched the killer's letter. then they had to repudiate that and say actually i think it's robert durst. i think the defense made a lot out of that. >> stephanie gosk lisa thank you so much. by the way, so many people phosphated by this case an all new "dateline" tonight. we will dig into it. meanwhile, a massive man hunt is under way for a group of alleged accomplices in that deadly terror attack at a museum in tunisia. katy good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning, matt. two gunmen are dead. there are as many as three other accomplices who could still be

on the loose, according to officials. as of now, 44 people are injured and 23 people dead according to associated press, mote of them tourists visiting the popular european vacation spot. as fight fell over the capital city of tunis, its people stood in defiance of the terror intended to intimidate them. officials now say 19 people two tunesians, stein tourists were killed as they stormed the popular barto museum. officials say they opened fire as they got off buses, even hunting some down as they tried to hide. others were held hostage. as police prepared to confront the gunmen, a few managed to escape clutching children as tehran. tunisia's prime minister vowed his country will not succumb to extremism, speaking in japan, home to at least three of the dead michelle obama offered

condolences. >> our hearts go out to the loved once of those who were lost here in japan and around the world. >> reporter: tunisia has been called a glimmer of light for democracy in the region. it's where the arab spring started if 2011. but experts worry this attack aimed at disrupting vital tourism will only tempt those in power to turn back to more you a toritarian measures to keep control. once again the death toll is now at 23. no one has yet taken responsibility. 3,000 tunesians are believed to have joined isis that's the most from any country. the big question, guys will tourists feel comfortable going back there? >> it can't be answered for a while. back here problems are mounting for the secret service over that alleged crash at the white house. the agency will face tough

questions about that and more on capitol hill today. nbc's kristen welker is live from the white house. good morning. >> reporter: director clancy will testify about the agency's budget today. but in his prepared remarks, he will say it is quote unacceptable he didn't learn about the latest allegation until five days after it happened. all this as some lawmakers are expressing serious concerns over the director's handling of this incident and the under surveillance tape that roared it. as secret service director joseph clancy prepares to face lawmakers. the two under surveillance tapes which he viewed this week do not clearly show what happened the night of march 4th when two secret service agents drove on the white house grounds inebriated. >> when we asked are there other cameras, he states they may have been erased. erased?

are you kidding me? >> reporter: he chairs the committee who is investigating the agency said it's unclear whether other cameras captured more angles and noted director clancy said per protocol tapes get erased 72 hours after the incident. >> it's more than a week and the secret service director doesn't know if there is another tape of the incident. >> reporter: this comes as clancy faced a grilling on whil when he acknowledged he wasn't told about it for five days and he was informed by an anonymous source. >> i'm frustrated very frustrated. >> you can't run an agency like this for god's sake or any other agency unless have you discipline in the ranks. >> maybe some people need to be sent to the mojave desert. >> he was brought in to reform the agency after a series of security breach including when a man with a knife made it

much of the northeast. here's how we time it out. we are looking at wet snow tomorrow morning, washington, d.c. minor snow accumulations. it picks up as the morning wears on. new york city mid- to late-morning. if you have a flight you might want to early it up. otherwise, you will get stuck. a period of wet snow for six hours around noon time going into the evening hours. boston spring starts exactly 6:45. middle eastern accumulations expected. then it all draws to a close saturday. how much are we talking about? generally about one-to-three inches. central pennsylvania may pick up three to five. from tom's river, bridgeport. into iceland, we could be looking into new york city and those areas about three-to-five inches t. good news is it mostly will be on grassy surfaces. because we got a higher angle of the sun t. roadways and slicks not a lot of accumulation.

then colder air comes in on sunday. >> looking for that silver lining. thank you, we got tamron in fortunately. good news about the killing of the terror suspects. >> the something confirmed wednesday a u.s. airstrike last week killed a senior member of the al shabaab extremist group who alleged ply planned the mall attack that killed 67 people. the death was described as another significant blow to the al shabaab organization in somalia. u.s. ambassador caroline kennedy appeared in public for the first time since it was revealed she was a target of a death threat last month. she appeared to promote girl's education a. new partnership between japan and the u.s. to help the 62 million girls who are not in schools across the globe. she said failure to provide education to them is a waste of human potential.

meantime president obama is floating the idea of making it mandatory to vote in the united states bringing the discussion of voting rights and campaign finance in cleveland. the president said the u.s. should be making it easier to vote not harder. he says if everyone voted, it would completely change the political map. two members of the band "one direction" will have to post bonds worth nearly $5,000 before their performance this weekend in the philipines. if they don't fork over the money, they won't be able to take the stage. so the krv centers around a video that circulated on the internet of the two supposedly smoking marijuana. now the bond money will be forfeited if they are caught using or promoting illegal drugs while in manila. and a dare devil motorcyclist who taunted police during an hour-long chase is behind bars this morning. it happened east of los angeles. the man was wanted for reckless driving. he reached speeds of over 100

miles per hour and ran several red lights during the chase. but the most memorable moments came when the suspect stood on the seat of the bike while it was still moving at one point he parked in a cul-de-sac and took his helmet to put in his ear buds. eventually he pulled into a gas station and gave himself up. i think he's auditioning for some movie, a stuntman. >> ear buds were the sirens bothering him? >> or maybe he was trying to track the police chase of him. >> do they make movies in jail? he's not going to like wednesday. >> look it up folks. all right. we have a lot of rain to talk about in the southwest. wet weather into northern florida. showers in the pacific northwest. plenty of sunshine through the

police are identifying a 41-year-old who was captured after a shooting car jacking and home invasion has a long criminal record including three stints in prison. and prince charles and wife camilla are headed to the white house for a meeting with the president and vice president. on wednesday, they visited the lincoln memorial and martin luther king jr. memorial and mount ver non. could criminals be behind some popular wifi hot spots we are using? the consumer alert you need to see before logging on. first in this half hour police investigate a secret facebook page allegedly used by penn state university to show compromising photos of women. here's abc's gabe gutierrez. >> reporter: this morning, members of kappa delta row, the house could face criminal charges, officially the local chapter is staying quiet.
