prima primary april 26th. donald trump says, if republicans contest the convention, you can expect riots. late this afternoon, the republican front runner posted a video on instagram targeting the democrats. [ barking ] >> meanwhile, ted cruz is. coming after trump. he tweeted out the #duckingdonald strikes again. tell donald trump to debate. cruz is not happy donald trump said he would not debate monday. so when kasich also pulled out, that debate was canceled. a much quieter day on the democratic side. hillary clinton is still glowing from victories last night. she won all five states and bernie sanders is fighting to stay in it. today he is in arizona which is the next primary state. next tuesday voters decide in

arizona and there's a caucus in utah. to our weather now. thunder and lightning, tracking storms in the philadelphia region within the past hour. nbc 10 chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is joining us now with his first alert forecast. it's rumbling out there. >> yeah. rumbles moved through very, very quickly. much of the region now has dried out. we have cloudy skies now. little bit on the breezy side but it continues to be unseasonably warm out there. we saw those showers move quickly. they are now mostly in new jersey. we do have one batch right through portions of south philly, moved through camden now. this is just developed in last 15 minutes across portions of camden and gloucester counties. briefly heavy but not seeing the reports of lightning any more like earlier. and of course it's drying

farther back to the north and west. as we go through the night tonight. it's going to continue to be unseasonably warm. but that's going to change. we've got winter chill on the way. and that includes the threat of snow over the weekend. that's coming with the seven day in a few minutes. only nbc 10 there today when firefighters and police teamed up to rescue this woman right here from a burning building in south philadelphia. they used that construction ladder to bring her down carefully. this was the scene along north franklin. around 3:00, the woman is just fine. it not clear what caused the fire. happening right now, parents are coming together to get answers about the death of a high school student in north philadelphia. the teenager died yesterday from meningitis. after school, classmates released balloons. nbc 10's rosemary connors live from george washington carver high school. >> i know you spoke with students who knew the teenager

and described him as a gentle giant? >> reporter: right. they say that jonathan briggs was a big guy who had a big heart. well-liked, easy going. they tell me the last time they saw him walking through the halls last friday. so his sudden death has been very difficult to process. tonight the school's opening its doors to parents who mayg!f ha questions, who may want to express concerns. they obviously have school officials here, health officials to help answer any questions. the meeting here tonight comes after a special tribute just a few hours ago. >> it like a remembrance. so write something on a balloon, send it off to the sky, celebrate it. >> reporter: the sun shining on the students at carver high school of engineering and science in north philadelphia. they remembered 15-year-old jonathan briggs who died of bacterial meningitis. he was a freshman and played on the school's undefeated jv basketball team. >> always did what i asked him

to do an amazing kid. >> smiling, never seen him mad or upset any day. >> reporter: as balloons floated above campus, administrators prepared for the meeting with concerned parents. the principal has been in touch with the cdc following guidance on keeping the school sanitary. the principal insists parents have nothing to fear. >> they are safe every day. >> reporter: school administrators will not say when he was admitted. officials are asking anyone who have a weakened immune system and came into contact wit him remain on alert. officials are trying to track down any students who may have had really close contact with jonathan briggs, specifically, may have come into contact with his mucous or blood. randy gyllenhaal will have details on the meeting tonight at 11:00. live in north philly, rosemary connors, nbc 10.

>> tearful testimony today, philadelphia residents asked the city council to look into reverse mortgages. reverse mortgages special kind of loan that lets people 62 and older convert home equity into cash. >> i felt i was cheated. i was cheated. i would have never signed away my house. i would never signed away my house. >> that woman told the council committee on finance that people need to be better educated before they sign on the bottom line. the last few years the number of mortgage foreclosures for reverse mortgages in philadelphia skyrocketed. today, police arrested the former cfo at visit philadelphia for embezzlement. joyce levit allegedly took $200,000 by charging personal expenses to the corporate credit card. the charges include $19,000 to bj's and costco and $20,000 for

meals. drivers will soon get the green light to go 70 miles per hour on the pennsylvania turnpike. the commission plans to boost the speed limit from 65 to 70. the turnpike tested the faster speed on a 100-mile stretch of the interstate for the past two years. they found no changes in the number of accidents. areas posted at 55, though, aren't going to change. new details on governor tom wolf's cancer fight. the governor plans to treat his prostate cancer with radioactive seeds. that's when doctors insert dozens of tiny seeds near the cancer. those seeds slowly release radiation to kill the cancer cells but spare nearby healthy tissue. wolf will continue with his regular schedule and duties. police in evesham township will pay to keep resource officers in eight schools next year. right now the district and township share the half million

a lost crab trap. >> the pot is a ghost spot. >> reporter: corroding on the muddy bottom of a back bay. >> it's good to get them out of the environment. >> reporter: anderson is among the commercial crabbers working with new jersey's stockton university and other groups in a federally funded project to retrieve ghost pots from waterways where they can kill animals that get caught inside and pose a danger to people on the water. >> it helps just to reduce the hazards out there so that we don't have boater hitting pots and getting upset. >> reporter: it started in 2012. the effort recently expanded to target back bay areas from southern ocean county to northern cape may county. using scientific grade side scan sonar, stockton mapped 3,000 traps so far. information the crabbers use to zero in on the ghost pots with their on more affordle equipment

we got up to 70 plus in parts of the area today after that chilly weather yesterday. that's going to be colder by the weekend, though. temperatures going down each day to the point where by sunday it's cold enough for snow. we may very well get some. i-95 and south philly, generally looking on the dry side now but we have had showers. 65 with rain reported at philly international at 6:00. winds south-southwest at 8 mile as hour. yesterday up to 53. today 71. tomorrow unseasonably warm as well, 66 degrees. but down to 56 on friday, 47 saturday. we may not get 40 on sunday as the snow comes. near 60 in kenneth square, wilmington, wrightstown, chester springs. 61 coatesville, objection

towards. 60 in doylestown. coolest beach haven, 50, wind off of the chilly ocean. these are showers zipping by. and the thunderstorms about to hit new york city. we have lingering showers farther to the south. you can see through the lehigh valley, bucks, montgomery county pretty much done. showers that went through philly across the river, past cherry hill and camden, evesham township at the moment. some lightning strikes with this. it's relatively heavy. but it's mosh moving so fast you don't get that much rain overall. more showers spinning around big upper low coming in each day. and we have at least some threats of showers. as you can see, as we go through tomorrow, there's more showers scattered around generally during afternoon. then more coming in on friday as
