employee uses a key to go into a house and immediately does exactly what he's there to do, test a smoke detector. the testing is requirement for ocean city homes being rentsed or sold. but a home security camera then captured that man opening the refrigerator and taking a look inside. he's seen taking out a bottle and goes back into the frigid appearing to put something else in his pocket along with the bottle. sources say this man is the stepson of ocean city mayor. nbc 10 obtained the video recorded last month through an open public records request after it ended up in the hands of city officials. he is no longer employed by resort but as a result of the video police say they've now launched a review to cross reference recent theft cases with other homes where he inspected smoke detectors. >> to find out if there's any incidents that have been

reported at these locations. >> reporter: police would only agree to do a recorded interview if it wasn't on camera. i reached out to the mayor and city business administrator as well, both said they could not discuss personnel issues. we don't know if the man resign or fired. in the video he's also seen going upstairs, comes back down a minute later then leaves the house police tell me they are not specifically investigating the incident captured on camera and say the who owns the house told them he's satisfied with how the city handled the matter administratively. >> the homeowner requested there's no further investigation done by the police department and any theft that may have occurred in that residence. >> reporter: unable to reach him for comment police tell me they want to hear from anyone who believes something suspicious may have happened during a smoke detector inspection and the same

we won't be seeing widespread freezing temperatures, widespread damage. we may see more of the freezing temperatures tomorrow night as the wind goes calm. for tonight, temperatures and all that cool to start off with, it's in the upper 50s, 63 degrees in philadelphia. that's the warmest it's been all day. and so it's going to take a while for the temperature to go down but look at it, between 7:00 and 10:00, while the phillies are playing we go from the 50s down to the 40s. take a coat with you if you're headed to the game. more on when we'll start warming up from this and yes some 70s onto way. the seven day forecast in a few minutes. right now at 5:00 a guilty plea in a hit-and-run that killed a toddler last year. shanika mason will spend two to five years as part of her deal.

the toddler was killed by a passing suv. mason ran over the victim a second time as she drove away. police in new jersey have arrest ad high school teacher for allegedly asking a student to bring in nude pictures of herself and that's not all. edmund harman is a teacher at notre dame high school in lawrence township. he allegedly fondled and kissed a student during a classroom meeting. bail was set at $150,000. we have new video here of two 18-year-old women accused of robbing the five below in the store center city and stabbing an employee. police say they shoplifted were followed outside by an employee when the worker tried to get the items back. she was stabbed in the neck and back with knives. we spoke with shoppers in disbelief. >> very surprised. any store around here because the police are usually out here all the time. >> police didn't release any

swans video. we found out the employee who was stabbed is okay. the nazareth mayor stole money from a local fire company. he was president of that fire company for 27 years. the fire company's currents president said the money was taken from the nonprofit social club not the fire department itself. elsewhere a march through the streets of atlantic city. their mission? to express support for a bill that helps ac recover without destroying union contracts. dozens of people marched through the rain at lufrmg time and went straight to city hall and the mayor. >> there is not a single union representing employees in atlantic city that has not come

advocates of equal pay for equal work held a rally at the pennsylvania state capital. pennsylvania are not on track to earn equal pay until 2072. equal payday is today. it is the day that symbolizes how far into the year women must work to catch up what men earned

in the previous year. in pennsylvania the median income for a woman is around $40,000 compared to 50,000 for men. pennsylvania has the worst gender gap of all three states. delaware ranks 19th. new jersey 21 and pennsylvania ranks 25th. president obama marked equal payday by designating a new national monument in washington, d.c. nbc news national correspondent edward lawrence gives us a closer look at the issue from washington. >> reporter: women's national soccer matches can be just as exciting as men but a lawsuit by five members of the u.s. women's soccer team highlight the salary gap many women find in the work lays. women soccer players say they are paid than half of what the men get if they make the world cup tournament. today president obama says american women need equality in pay and think it republican congress for paying to act on

rain all over the place. we're ending the day off with sunshine over just about the entire area. that's setting us up for a possible freeze today in parts of the area. close to 32 degree mark. we got a stretch of dry days here. good time to wash the car because you don't have to worry about rain for a while. and the 70s, they are going to be returning. take a few days before that happens. it's not happening in the next few days the phillies are still getting pretty fortunate with the weather. compared to what we saw this weekend. 63 degrees right now, the within 17, gusting to 23 miles per hour. generally out of the north and that, of course, is what is starting to cool us off. we were only 50 on sunday after 43 saturday. 69 degrees yesterday. so far 63 in philadelphia today but dropping down a little bit wednesday.

temperature little bit below average rest of the week even with fair amount of sunshine. going to take a while before 70s come back. 59 in chester springs. in quakertown. blew bell, reading, lancaster 56. these temperatures will be dropping fairly quickly but there's too much wind for them to be dropping to their potential. it's still 60 degrees in millville but only 53 in beach haven where it has been cloudy all day and it's just start to clear up right now. the wind still 15 to 20 miles per hour in parts of the area. 21 mile-per-hour sustained wind in reading. that wind has to get down close to 5 miles per hour before we see the temperature drop to, again, it's potential. and look how it drops by 11:00, 46 degrees. kind of cool for the phillies

fans out there. there's the freeze warning for the counties north and west and that includes berks county, lehigh, upper montgomery counties and we may see freeze warnings tomorrow night as well. may be colder in some of those suburbs as the wind goes dead calm. last of the clouds right at the shore. the rest of the area, you're pretty much seeing sunshine after all of that rain. this is where it started. 5:00 this morning. and went right through, heavy at times. here comes the clearing. and now we're left with a lot of dry air over much of the country and that's going with us for many days to come. now philly's weather is quite different than yesterday. the wind was blowing out to left. tonight it's going to be blowing more left to right. going to be cooler, also, obviously, night fall compared

to the sunshine yesterday. makes it a little harder for the ball to get hit out of the park. 56 degrees at 7:00. and then we're dropping. into the 40s by the end of the game. take a coat with you if you're headed there especially if you're just sitting in the stands and not playing the game. temperatures dropping into the 30s in some areas by midnight. by morning you can see we're down to 32, allentown, pottstown 31 in reading. similar temperatures tomorrow night if not a little bit lower. possible freeze north and west with temperatures near the freezing mark. tomorrow a lot of sunshine. a bit on the cool side for this time of the. upper 50s, not a lot of wind. the wind will be generally off the ocean for the rest of the week. that will prevent the temperature from going up very much until saturday, 64 trees and then 72 sunday. 78 degrees on monday.

breaking news in north philadelphia. >> crews are on the scene involving a school bus and two other vehicles. >> nbc 10 brandon hudson is standing by live. what can you tell us? >> reporter: we know two children are hurt. those two children complained of minor pain after this accidents.

accident investigators still want to take a look what they are checking out right now. the school bus, i'm told no one was 2019 cars that were hit by this bus. i just talked to police in the last couple of. they told me that this bus was apparently coming down diamond street and hypothetical those two cars unattended. you can see one of the cars in between the suv and school bus took most of the damage. this happened right in front of diamond pharmacy on diamond street and the intersection of van pelt street. i also was told none of the other children on the bus were hurt at this time. those kids went to the hospital for treatment. they are doing fine and will be fine for the evening. now trying to get more information from police. any other information i'll have i'll relay that to you at the top of 6:00. so see you in about 30 minutes. reporting live i'm brandon hudson, nbc 10 news. now are you guilty? thousands of drivers get pulled over every year for texting

insufficient staffing and resources. thor believes the charter school office is too small to oversee so many schools. the superintendent said there's a problem with the way charters are funded by the district. more educational opportunities could be onto way for young people in delaware. the governor announced legislation that would expand scholarships that provide two years of free college to delaware students. the seed program stands for students excellence equal degree. it's available to in state students who graduate and maintain a minimum 2.5 gp. teenagers looking for jobs have another place to turn. applications are being accepted from people between 14 and 20. to more breaking news. skies force 10 live in north philadelphia this time on the saechb c-- scene of a carjackin.

we have new surveillance video that appears to show the accident that led to the deadly shooting of former new orleans saints player will smith. it shows a silver suv rear earneding a hummer at a red light before both drive off. the vehicles match those driven by smith and the man accused of killing him. jay gray has the new details.

here they are, they will wear a patch or something on their uniforms to honor ed. the players said they have been playing for ed this season. they have been one of the best teams in the eastern conference over the last few months while ed had been battling cancer. the players are dedicating their season to ed snider. we all know how hard we'll be playing for him. it will give us that extra motivation. we were playing for him to get in the playoffs and we're happy he was able to see that and now going to the playoff series we'll play for him and dedicate this playoff to him and i it's one thing he wanted was for the flyers to win the stanley cup so we'll try to go out there and do that for him. >> reporter: the players lost the father of their franchise, the face of the franchise but they want to win another stanley cup in honor of ed snider. i'm john clark. we'll have more coming up at 6:20. coming up next on nbc 10

students injured when a school buses in philadelphia. good evening i'm jacqueline london. >> i'm jim ]iññrrosenfield. sky force 10 had the first eyes on the scene in north philadelphia and nbc 10 brandon hudson was the first reporter there as well and joining us live. what have you learned? >> reporter: i can tell you that police say the school bus driver is responsible for this crash. you can see behind me the school bus is still here but a crew is clearing out the scene. we just spoke to one of the car owners. she was at work. heard about the crash and saw her car was one of the cars hit. it happened about 4:00 this afternoon when the crash happened. a school bus driver came down diamond and hit two parked cars. no one was in those cars during the time of the crash. two children onto bus went to hospital to be treated minor

injuries. the crash happened right in front of diamond pharmacy. 15 minutes ago one of the car owners walked over to us and told us about this crash. >> my co-worker was looking out the window and stated there was a car accidents. i looked out and had to focus it was my vehicle. when i came outside i noticed the school bus ran into the back of my vehicle and my vehicle hit the other car. >> reporter: no one is facing charges. police are working to get this part of diamond street re-topped traffic. live in north philadelphia i'm brandon hudson, nbc 10 news. tonight there is a void in philadelphia's heart. the entire city morning loss of ed snider. him. we go live to the wells fargo center. >> reporter: ed sniderl
