march down broad street and the atmosphere. >> it was amazing. we had allies and everybody coming out to support us and show us that philadelphia shouldn't get left behind. >> thank you so much. as you can see, the crowd is gathering to talk about this theme of economic injustice and the big issue that they are talking about here is the $15 minimum wage as well. they should be wrapping up here soon but part of broad street is still shut down. today, on jonathan rosa's 21st birthday, a judge sentenced him to 45 to 90 years in prison for a crime two years ago. he wasn't the major player.

he had known his co-defendant for three days before they were in a stolen suv that crashed into the family as they were helping at a church fundraiser on the playground. monique braxton is live where that happened. such emotional day for the victims and the suspect. >> reporter: that's right. everybody was crying in the courtroom, jacqueline. here in germantown, you'll find a memorial. to the left of it, you'll find a mural now posted where a mother and her three children were killed. one of the men was sentenced to 45 to 90 years today. >> i prayed a lot. >> reporter: she's forgiven jonathan rosa and cornelius crawford for killing her sister keisha williams and niece and nephews.

the duo was doing drugs and mowed into the family out selling fruit here in allegheny. their crimes began a few blocks away when they carjacked a realtor. >> they stole a car and wanted to go for a ride and the facts just unfolded and it was just a horrible, horrible tragedy of one series of events after another. and four people are dead as a result of it. >> reporter: the assistant district attorney says a plea agreement and sentence spared the family and realtor who was sexually assaulted tremendous pain. outside the courthouse, rosa's mother amanda cried, refusing to comment on her son's fate. but she wrote a letter to the williams' family. the defense attorney christopher warren read it to us. >> my desire is for everyone to find peace and broken hearts to be healed. i hope this verse come efforts you. the lord is with them who have a broken heart. >> it was emotional but i'm glad that everything is over and we got justice. >> reporter: now, the judge

called this case catastrophic the co-defendant has been sentenced to 50 to 100 years in prison. live in germantown, monique braxton, nbc 10 news. new information about an arrest in a deadly hit-and-run in port richmond. cameras were there today as police led this man in handcuffs to a waiting police car around 9:30 last night thomas dunbar was riding this motorized scooter when he was hit. police found the car they believe killed dunbar parked at madison and cedar streets. philadelphia's district attorney called them one of the most violent gangs in the city. tonight, they are all in jail. police arrested 15 members of the tnt gang out of north philadelphia. the gang had a turf war with a rival gang during a six-month period during 2014 and that feud

resulted in 13 violent crimes, including nine shootings and a homicide. the gang identified itself through social media postings, tattoos and clothing. included in the arrest is a father/son duo. police also seized ten illegal guns. new from our delaware bureau this evening, forced out of their homes after a deadly gas like last month. it was an apparent carbon monoxide posing that killed four people at this apartment complex. the delaware attorney general's office is looking into claims that remaining residents are being treated unfairly. new at 6:00, bureau reporter tim furlong spoke with one resident who hasn't been allowed to go back home in weeks. >> reporter: she enjoyed living there and was so saddened to hear four of her neighbors died from carbon monoxide poisoning there but since then she's been living in different hotels so the complex can make repairs to

the building. >> okay, i thought, maybe we'll be there for a couple of days. we've been there since march 26th. >> reporter: living in hotels has been inconvenient. >> trying to bring enough clothes to last for the weekend, running back and forth to your apartment, getting your mail. >> reporter: she says it's getting expensive bringing takeout food to the hotel and she doesn't have to deal with the pets or children. she says the complex has offered to let these displaced residents pack up and move to a unit in one of the company's other complexes. >> i say, who is going to pay for that? she says, you guys have to pay for it and i said, no, we're not liable. we shouldn't have to pay for it and i'm not going to. >> reporter: the complex manager wouldn't comment on this when i stopped by today. mary has been offered $300 towards moving cost but that won't cover it and her renter's insurance policy says it's the landlord's responsibility. she doesn't think that displaced

residents should have to pay for anything. she just wants to be back home and done with this mess. >> it's really bad. it's really bad. >> reporter: in wilmington, tim furlong, nbc 10 news. to our first alert weather. look at this picture perfect spring day in wilmington today. people were out jogging at this park, maybe walking the dogs, enjoying the flowers. just really nice outside. >> really gorgeous. we have a new neighborhood weather. >> you're going to love this. it's a detailed forecast you won't get anywhere else. glenn? >> that's right. whatever type of weather we have, we can focus on wherever the weather is the worst and go all over the region. speaking of wilmington, there's your clear skies, 55 degrees. that's a live picture. i can tell because they are spraying the water. so that's live. 62 in philadelphia. we got up to 63 today.

55 in parts of south jersey but at the shore, way cooler. 50 degrees. so even on a sunny day, quiet day, we have big changes across the region. now, tonight, we're going to get cold again. clear skies, light wind, low humidity, another frost advisory. 32 degrees or colder. this is pennsylvania, north and west of philadelphia itself, the urban heat island keeps the temperature up at night. northern delaware and much of new jersey included in the frost advisory as well. now, let's look at some of the specific temperatures. these are the low temperatures for the morning and predicted highs for the afternoon. we're talking about neighborhoods. newtown and bucks county, 32 degrees in the morning. here's an example for you. phoenixville, 34 degrees at 7:00

a.m. look how fast it warms up to 54 degrees at 11:00 am and we're going into the 60s tomorrow. sunshine all day and we will continue to focus on the big warming trend over the weekend and see how long that lasts. coming up. >> all right, glenn. new at 6:00, a sentence for dogfighting puts a philadelphia man on probation for the next four years. he will also have to submit to drug screening and forbided from owning a dog. he pleaded guilty to more than a dozen counts of animal cruelty related to dog-fighting operation in longcrest. five dogs were taken from tally. they all had scars consistent with fighting. three had to be put down. the other two are in new homes tonight. legendary singer diana ross is dealing with discomfort tonight after her limo got into a crash in our area last night. ross was heading to a show at

the sands bethlehem event center around 5:00 p.m. that's when an suv ran a stop sign and crashed into the limo carrying the former supreme superstar. paramedics treated her for head and neck pain right there on the scene. police gave the suv driver a ticket and the show went on. she managed to get herself together and took to the stage a few hours after all of that happened. a few hours ago, diana ross tweeted, "i was in a car accident yesterday but i am fine. i ask you not to worry." she'll be in providence, rhode island, tonight. to the candidates not slowing down in decision 2016, republican front-runner donald trump just finished speaking at a fundraising event on long island. today, trump learned his campaign manager will not be prosecuted for simple battery

for allegedly grabbing a reporter's arms. trump maintaining a double-digit lead here in pennsylvania, the poll from monmouth university in new jersey, shows trump with 44% of likely republican voters and ted cruz is second with 28%. john kasich's roots in p.a. don't seem to be giving him any advantage. he's in third with 23%. we're now just 11 days away from the pennsylvania primary opening on tuesday, april 26th. the democratic presidential candidates will face off tonight in their final debate before next week's new york primary. the stage is set for the event in brooklyn. hillary clinton faces a new controversy leading up to this debate. she showed support for the striking verizon workers yesterday but today it was revealed she took $225,000 from verizon for a speech back in 2013. senator sanders, meantime, criticized a supporter who seemed to describe mrs. clinton using an offensive word during a

getting a lot of attention as it is being filmed right now. there are two in camden and one in atlantic city. ted greenberg explains how wetlands is bringing a boost to businesses on the boardwalk and beyond. >> rolling. >> reporter: they are focusing on material sipghts to put them on the screen. sections of the wildwood boardwalk has been transformed for the production of a feature film called wetlands, a drama about a former philadelphia police officer who moves to the jersey shore to be closer to his estranged family. >> i hope we'll see some stars soon. >> reporter: they are here, heather graham and christopher mcdonald. >> it's great. >> reporter: and additional dollars during what is still a quiet time of year.

kim norman works at a restaurant which is benefiting from the extra business. >> we've had a crew come over and get something to eat. >> reporter: the television commission says interest in filming in the garden state is at an all-time high. among the incentives, production-specific exemptions from new jersey's 7% sales tax. >> it's been wonderful. everyone is super sweet and interested and wanting to help. >> reporter: these crews will also be shooting scenes in shore communities beyond the wildwood. i'm told they will go south to cape may and north to atlantic city. >> working six days a week now until we are done. >> reporter: it's expected to wrap up in about three weeks but will have to wait until its release late next year to find out which parts of the jersey coast make the cut. ted greenberg, nbc 10 news. now it's time for a check of our first alert neighborhood

weather. >> forecasts you won't get anywhere else because it's focused on where you live and what you need to know. >> we'll send it over to glenn hurricane schwartz. glenn? >> even with a day like today, lots of sunshine and light winds, we can show you all sorts of detail about that. for example, it's 62 in lehigh valley and philadelphia. 51 at the jersey shore. and we can get in real close and show you all of the differences across the area between philadelphia and the shore. look at this. medford, vorhees, oswego lake. 60, 62 degrees. a little cooler as you get towards the shore and we can show you this detail with every county in our area. one problem that we have, the pollen. you can't get any rain so you can't wash away the pollen so

it's going to be high. very high all the way through the weekend. now, we've got another frosty night out there. the low temperatures are going to vary, especially because the urban heat hour, right there in philadelphia, a lot of concrete that keeps the heat in, only 41 degrees while it's 30 in allentown. 32 in coatesville and 42 right at the beaches in atlantic city. just inland, it will be pretty cold. but everybody is going to warm up over the weekend. and the reason for that, high up in the atmosphere, we've got a gigantic area of high pressure building. it's a stuck pattern. the jet stream forced way up into canada. and as a result of that, we've got temperatures climbing and we continue to see the dry weather. here's the forecast for the next few days. look at the temperature in philadelphia. 65 to 72 to 80 on monday.

but at the jersey shore, only 52 to 62 to 70. so we can show you all of those differences and now, how about this, ten days. the seven-day forecast is constantly going on the bottom of your screen, not just from philadelphia but for every part of the area and we can also go all the way out to ten days. it's up to 80 on monday. it cools off a little on tuesday but look at the rest of the week. and even next weekend. temperatures back into the 70s. the first rain i have in the forecast, even a chance of it, is not until next friday. so the average high temperature is about 63. we're going to be there tomorrow and then we are really warm and we stay that way. and we'll be right back. this change in attitude
