i'm going to give you a statement and we will then take questions that you may have. at 9:43 yesterday morning, we received a medical call at paisley park. the fire, the sheriff's office, and ridgeview ambulance responded to the call. that is our standard protocol and is not unusual at all for us to have everybody respond to a medical like that. they found an unresponsive male in the elevator. cpr was initially started, but was unsuccessful. he was pronounced deceased at 10:07. we have identified him as prince rogers anelson, 5 7 years old. staff members from paisley park were unable to contact prince yesterday morning and went to

check on him finding him unresponsive and called 911. deputies went through the building to ensure there was nobody else inside. because this was an unwitnessed death of a middle-aged adult, the decision was made to process the scene. that is also normal protocol, not different from what we normally would do. there should be no -- we ended up contacting the county crime lab to help us with that, and there should be no inference taken from that. it's not unusual for them to come out and do those types of calls. we finished with our processing late yesterday afternoon. we turned paisley park back over to prince's representatives. again, because investigation is ongoing, i will not be answering questions on whether or not there were any items taken during our processing. the midwest medical examiner's

office was contacted and the doctor who is a county medical examiner responded. there was no obvious signs of trauma on the body at all. the body was transported to the doctor's office for an autopsy, and that is being done today. results from that autopsy may take several weeks which is not up usual. again, this will continue to be an open investigation until the autopsy results come back and we are ready to take questions that you may have. >> you yous have been listening to the sheriff of carver county minnesota have a news conference, hold a news conference on the death of prince. he did not give many details only to say it's an open and ongoing investigation. no obvious signs of trauma, and that an autopsy is being conducted today. the results of that autopsy may take a few more weeks. we're going to be listening into

street is down this way and pats and ginos four blocks this way. a woman told police she was followed fora block, pulled out the pepper spray, and when attacked, she sprayed him and hit him in the throat before he ran away. we spoke to neighbors who say they will be more vigilant. >> i give her a lot of credit. i do. i was mugged once when i was young. i fought him off. >> reporter: you can sympathize. >> oh, yeah, definitely. >> this person was prepared, which is good. if there are kids and young people walking around at night, they should have something and not be walking around by themselves. >> reporter: again, take another good look at this photo. the one we shared with you all day. police say this guy's 37 years old, 225 pounds, and 5'7", police are using forensic evidence in hopes of making a capture and arrest. live in south philadelphia,

brandon hudson, nbc 10 news. now to a developing story we're following at least eight people dead in four locations in rural ohio. seven of them including two children were shot in execution style killings at three homes along a country road. investigators believe they are all members of the same family. no arrests made. it's unclear whether the killer or killers are among the dead. details on the death of the eighth person have not been released, but authorities say the body was found in a fourth location. the ohio attorney general is scheduled to hold a news conference at any moment now about the murders, and latest on the investigation. this is a live look. we'll listen to what he has to say, of course, bringing you the latest information right here on nbc 10. now to decision 2016, the campaigning is picking up steam ahead of tuesday's primaries in pennsylvania and delaware. today, four of the five presidential candidates are in our area spreading their message

fight has been identified as a 16-year-old sophomore. nbc 10 is live in wilmington talking to students today. it's got to be a tough day for them. >> reporter: it was. school here was half day. they were released early, and students did take advantage of grief count lores here. i'll step out of the way, and you can see people are gathering here to begin a march to rodney square, beyond the crowd of people, there's a memorial set up for that 16-year-old student. >> there was a young lady, personally, yes. so having a hard time. >> she staid school is where she belonged today. >> i made sure she was where i knew she was safe, and would get support. so i brought her today for counselling because so many of the students are hurting.

>> skinner said she heard multiple versions of how the 16-year-old died, but until she hears from police, she's not sure what to believe. >> as a parent, it wouldn't matter. i would closure. i would want to know the whole story as a parent, but there was nothing that was worth this young lady's life. >> reporter: police interviewed witnesses to the fight including two girls believed to have been involved. the girls are not in police custody. on social media, the #ripamy is trending, as many students who knew her talk about what could have happened inside the girl's bathroom early yesterday morning. police stayed away from talking about how francis died or what they are doing in the investigation so far, but students say she was in a fight with multiple girls over a boy. >> someone to lose their life over a fight. >> reporter: now the attorney general's office sent a statement saying that their investigation is ongoing, including interviews with multiple witnesses as well as

a school superintendent hit and killed while jogging earlier this week. >> it was an emotional try butte. his sons and wife shared heart felt americans about the family man and school leader taken too soon. ♪ and as he stands in victory >> taking comfort in their faith, hundreds spent friday afternoon at a memorial service paying tribute to steve mayer, to the robbinsville community, he was more than a school supersben dent, but an educator, innovator, and friend. perhaps his most important role, though, was that of husband and father to three sons. >> i need you to know that on tuesday morning, i lost the absolute love of my life. >> he was a fan of family. he was a fan of having fun. he was a fan of my mom.

>> it was earlier this week when 52-year-old mayer was struck and killed on robbinsville road, according to investigators, he was out for a morning run for a jog with his dog when a 17-year-old student from high school hit them. she was on the way to campus for a class trip. at the memorial today, the family had this for all students. >> steve was a light everywhere he went. his smile, his exuberance, his love, compassion. he was a light. what i visualize is each of you standing up using your gift, your god-given gifts that god gave you in your education for his glory. i visualize pieces of my beloved husband all over this world. >> at the memorial service, organizers passed around note paper and pens for those in

set her newborn on fire and left the child in the middle of the street will spend 30 years in prison. she must serve more than 25 years before eligible for parole. according to the investigators, the mother gave birth to the infant in her house in january of 2015, then drove to a wooded area a few miles away, doused the baby girl with axel rant and set her on fire. the baby died at the hospital. >> in other news, it's no pay friday for workers in atlantic city. it's been two weeks since employees got their last paycheck, and they will not get another until may 89, so today, there was a free barbecue for workers. atlantic city mayer and leaders served up the food, a way to keep up morale for workers as they paddle through the 28 payday cycle. >> it's really good for everyone

and craft activities at the constitution center. visitors learned how to make recycled paper and got important lessons going green. happening today, jews in our area and around the world began observing the passover holiday at sun down. the week long holiday commemorates the israelites exodus from egypt. they fled so quickly they didn't have time for bread to rise. in keeping with tradition, they abstain from eating elevened bread for the duration of the holiday. you probably see these people out at intersections, busy ones every year, penn state students raise millions of dollars for charity in the fundraiser. >> a successful fundraiser, but the way they do it and raise money is changing this year. next, the switch in how they collect the money and reason behind the new policy.

penn state charity dance marathon is phasing out one effort after two students died in recent years. officials released a letter saying canning is phased out entirely in 2019. until then, some changes are enacted only two weeks set aside for the popular fundraising effort in which students ask drivers around the region to drop donations into large cans. the changes come after a 19-year-old sophomore died in a one-car crash in september that injured six other students. another student died in december 2011 while traveling for a canning weekend. some alarming new statistics out today about suicide, especially when it comes to young girls. noft government data shows a 24% rise in suicide happened from 1999 to 2014 with the most after 2006. the biggest increase in pre-teen

girls and white middle-aged men. men use guns to end their lives, and women more likely poison themselves. suicide is the tenth leading cause of death in the u.s. bringing attention to autism, students at colonial elementary school in plymouth meeting created a giant ribbon big enough for each child to be inside the ribbon symbolizing how autism touches about everybody. inside the classroom, students put the finishing touches on the ribbon and other projects related to autism awareness. >> people who have autism, like, they feel left out, and this is a chance to, like, recognize them and be friends with them. >> the entire school took part in the final presentation of the jie giant ribbon. >> countdown is on, flyers face elimination game tonight, this time in washington. >> where the team battles it out on the ice in a few hours from
