everything. the main concern is that who would ever think that when you send your children to school that you get a phone call that said, you know, telling you that something fatal occurred to your child. >> reporter: parents and students are still searching for answers as to how a 16-year-old died after a fight with other students inside her wilmington high school. >> it's crazy for someone to lose their life over a fight. >> reporter: those who knew amy francis says she was not the girl to fight and had good grades and was quiet. >> she was a very friendly person, and she was not about violence at all. >> reporter: school officials say francis was seriously injured in a fight in the girl's bathroom yesterday morning but has not said how she died or if charges are coming and confirmed witnesses have been interviewed and are investigating the case. sandy hicks, a girl scout leader, says violence is anywhere. >> violence is going on a lot with our girls.

of moisture in the atmosphere and chance for pop-up showers and thunderstorm later on this evening. temperatures are warm, 76 philadelphia, 7 allentown, and 75 wilmington, 74 in violet, and 77 in atlantic city. along the shore, we're looking at slightly warmer temperatures. live look out citizens bank park, overcast skies and hazy, but we have the pop-up showers in the forecast. here's a look at the radar. most of the rain is down to the south or off to the west, but later on tonight, i think we'll see more of this moving into the area, so let's zoom in on the philadelphia area. most of the heavier rain is in parts of the virginias, but locally, maybe just some sprinkles now through parts of south jersey and delaware. cape may county dealing with light rain with the heaviest offshore and sprinkles moving into south jersey and delaware like new castle county, and salem and as far as future weather is concerned through tonight, most of the area will

be staying dry, and then we're going to watch the overnight hours, so this is future weather closer to 7:00 p.m., pop-up sprinkles, nothing major by then as far as heavy rain or large area of rain, but 11:30 tonight, popup sures in the valley, rain that's consistent on a lot of the models for parts of south jersey and delaware here by 11:30 tonight and go overnight, showers moving through, that's expected, and now here's 6:00, saturday morning, rain, south jersey and delaware and even through the first half of the day for your saturday, south jersey and delaware, seeing the rain around, that's where going to linger the most, and by the afternoon, slowly moving occupant, but eventually later saturday night, we to clear up a lot. going into tomorrow, philadelphia area, i think, sees rain lingering early, so fair amount, temperatures 70 degrees, developing sunshine, and low 70s, westchester, phoenixville in the upper 60s to 70 degrees.

lehigh valley in the mid to upper 60 and drying tomorrow with cloud cover. south jersey, rain throughout the day tomorrow, and closer to the shore, wildwood at 62, cool with lingering rain. same in atlantic city, showers linger tomorrow, tomorrow 63 degrees. trenton at 71 degrees tomorrow, and morristown at 70, and philadelphia, again, we expect that rain to be lingering early. in delaware, will ming at 70 degrees. really depends where you live, which is why we do this neighborhood forecast across the weekend, better chance of rain is going to linger south and east, temperatures in the 60s, and philadelphia at 70 degrees. sunday is great for everybody. 70 and sunny in philadelphia on sunday. closer to the shore, though, a bit of a difference, low 60s. don't forget your seven day

service, and x lets them use personal vehicles. we'll monitor the protest there. it may just be an issue of people who are picking up family members at the airport or dropping them off, so keep that in mind as you head out. right now, police are trying to find this man who assaulted a teen in south philadelphia. you can see the victim's hand around the suspect's neck fighting off the attacker. nbc 10's brandon hudson is live near the scene in south philly, and you got new information from the police in that neighborhood? >> reporter: rosemary and keith, a police officer gave me this crime bulletin. he was passing them around the neighborhood. this happened in this block, the 1300 block of warton street and police are looking at surveillance video where we saw a couple cameras on this building across the street.

a thwarted attack caught on camera. they shared this photo with nbc 10 of an attempt the sexual assault around 1:30 wednesday morning. the guy in the hoodie with a hand on his throat are who investigators are looking for. >> these intruders have to be taken down and it's great it's a woman who saved herself from what could have potentially been very bad for her and her family. >> reporter: ashley heard the 19-year-old woman screaming not far from her house. >> heard it start, went away, and it got really close. >> she dialled 911 and went outside and never saw the victim. that young woman told police she believed she was being followed for a block. >> the offensive rushed up her, grabbed her, tackled her to the ground and pulled her dress down. >> reporter: the woman pepper sprayed the man and hit him in the throat before he ran away. she had minor injuries, but will be fine. we showed ashley forte the

surveillance image and did not recognize the attacker but will keep a look especially since she works late. >> i try to, you know, pay attention to where i'm at and what's around me, and hold my phone near in case anything suspicious happens. >> reporter: ashley told me her biggest concern is looking out for her two sisters and neighboring kids here in part of south philadelphia. police say the attacker was 5'7", 227 pounds, and 37 years old. live in south philadelphia, brandon hudson, nbc 10 news. >> thank you. the u.s. army reserve turns 108 this weekend. through the years, reserve soldiers have been a part of every major military event starting with world war 1 and leading to the global war on terrorism. right now, there are about 200,000 army reserve soldiers serving all over the world. tragedy tonight in a rural ohio town. eight people are dead, zemseven

shot execution style at four crime seens in an appalachian region. according to invers gaiters, seven victims, including two children, were shot at three homes along a rural country road. there's not an active shooter and nobody under arrest. it's also unclear if the killer is among the dead. back at home, a fire that burned a half dozen homes in camden this morning, and they said it was deliberately set. there's a person of interest in custody. flames forced more than two dozen people from their homes, medics took two adults and five kids to the hospital to be checked out for smoke inhalation. >> coast guard rescue at the jersey shore caught on camera this morning. a crew from the atlantic city air station hoisted two men to safety after their boat ran aground in the river. the men were taken to millville airport and checked out by ems crew on scene.

landing, 60 degrees in lant tick city right now. as we go into the start of your weekend, we'll be seeing some rain lingering along the shore, too. sunday looks like the better day of the weekend, though. a live look at the radar. a lot of the rain is just to the south and out of to our west, so all this rain, that's going to continue to kind of just sit here and spin slowly approaching the area, but it's all the scattered, unorganized shower activity we're watching as we go through tonight. for the rest of the evening and into the weekend, we have a chance still of pop-up showers, i can't rule out thunderstorms, but it's sporadic, nothing organized. locally, nothing organized. it's mostly south of philadelphia where we have the most going on, but we're still seeing breaks in the cloud cover, so some areas still seeing sunshine right now. through south jersey and delaware, maybe sprinkles, but that's really about it. pop-up showers, though, that's going to stay in the forecast as we go through your evening, so if you are headed out tonight,

just grab the umbrella before you do so. future weather at 7:30 tonight, not much happening, a couple showers, nothing crazy. i think we'll have a low chance of seeing a thunderstorm by then, and midnight, though, we see a little more activity. south of philadelphia, delaware, south jersey, and through the lehigh valley, could see the showers, but most, i think, is overnight into early tomorrow morning. now he's saturday, 6:30, south jersey and delaware with the rain, and into the middle of the day tomorrow for saturday. north and west of philadelphia, mostly dry, and through new jersey and delaware delaware, though, we see rain chance extending into philadelphia, and then we do clear as we go through the afternoon finally. so lingering into the weekend really depends where you are. if you're in philadelphia tomorrow, some showers lingering early, 70 degrees, sunday is great, though, sunny, 70, and along the shore, showers lingering longer tomorrow. sunday, though, low 60s, cooler, next chance of rain comes into tuesday. a closer look into the rest of
