home. and crunch time for the candidates as they flock to our area. we learn more about the millions of dollars coming to philadelphia for the dnc. at the end of the ice to finish it off. >> got to love that. flyers still in it. stanley cup hopes are alive and well as they pull out yet another win against the capitals. first, we begin with the rain moving through. n nbc10 with the umbrellas were out. the left side of your screen you can see the rain is still around. the question is, will it clear out in time for the weekend? let's bring in first alert meteorologist. >> keith, it depends on where you live which makes our neighborhood forecast so wonderful because we can narrow it down to the neighborhood. rain is lingering into the weekend but not for everybody. here's a look at the radar. active still but it's still a very unorganized system. nothing organized that's moving

in right now. it's mostly light rain around the philadelphia area but you see the rain just off to our north and west. right outside the lehigh valley. we will be watch that area of rain because it does have thunderstorm activity in it. if we zoom in a little bit closer most of what we have around right now is fairly light rain. over night tonight we will continue of see showers moving through and into the morning. temperatures right now, mostly mid to low 60s across the area. cloudy with light rain, especially in south jersey. tomorrow morning though we'll be seeing the rain lingering, especially if you are in new jersey and delaware. possibly even the philadelphia area. some showers lingering to start your weekend. we'll take a look at the rest of your weekend forecast and a nicer looking sunday that's coming up. >> looking forward to that, thank you. to decision 2016. national spotlight on our area. the four leading presidential candidates were in pennsylvania and delaware trying to woo voters ahead of tuesday's primaries. ted cruz visited supporters in

allentown tonight. he once again noted that pennsylvania is a key battleground state in the race, especially in a contested contest. >> donald trump loses to hillary clinton in the general election in pennsylvania, hillary and i are tied in pennsylvania. and in november, we're going the win pennsylvania and beat hillary clinton and that's one of the reasons so many republicans are uniting behind this campaign. this afternoon donald trump visited kent county, delaware, the republican front-runner rallied supporters at the state fair grounds in harrington. he talked about bringing jobs back to the united states, lowering taxes and taking on hillary clinton. and several men tell us that they were kicked out of the afternoon rally in delaware because they're black. the men say they didn't have signs and didn't say anything anti-trump. this is video the men recorded of the incident. >> ask me if i was a trump supporter. and i said i'm undecided. he said you got to leave. i'm standing here black and

because i'm black and undecided he said i had to leave. >> we reached out to the trump campaign about the group's claims. a spokesperson says she was told the men did have signs. as for trump, he will be back in our area for a rally monday at west chester university. and both democratic candidates made stops in pennsylvania today. hillary clinton made a campaign stop at a high school in scranton while senator bernie sanders visited millersville university. both addressed the need to make education affordable. >> i want and you want everybody to be able to get all of the education they need to become the best worker, the best citizen that they can become. >> if you pay your student debt payments every month we're going to have a cutoff time. after 20 years, you're done because it should not keep going for the rest of your lives. >> for the democrats there's a lot at stake in pennsylvania. almost 200 delegates, one of the

biggest states out there. both clinton and sanders are hoping to accept the nomination right here at the wells fargo center this summer and new tonight we've learned that philadelphia is getting millions of dollars from the federal government as it prepares to post the democratic national convention. nbc10's brandon hudson is here. >> a number that will get attention is the $43 million for security. the city told us it's not from the taxpayers, so it's not coming out of your wallets. it's a federal grant, a security expert says despite how large this amount seems, it's better to be safe than sorry. in three months thousands will travel to philadelphia and the wells fargo center for the 2016 democratic national convention. a high-profile event which will require a level of security that hasn't been used since pope francis visit last year. nbc10 obtained a list of the dny expenditures and solved $43 million will be used for the event security. >> it's to cover our security

expenses directly related to the dnc. it's not to cover our police costs that are going in the neighborhood. >> break do you understand of the expenditure list is a secure bus system for delegates and dignitaries among other federal costs. on the local level, a chunk of the money will fund overtime hours, police radios, food, and even portable bathrooms. >> i think this money well spent. >> reporter: especially considering the threat of isis. in our skype interview with pierce college security expert robert, he said secret service, fbi, and fema will primarily handle this large scale event. they will make sure they're protecting you and each other. >> i have an internal with the secret service, they account for everybody. so does the philadelphia police department and those who work with n. this arena. >> reporter: we checked out the congressional research service and found since 2004 congress has appropriated $100 million for convention security split between both host cities. cleveland received $49 million

van, then the driver left the scene. we know tonight the toddler is in stable condition. also happening tonight philadelphia police are looking for the man pepper sprayed by a teenager he tried to sexually assault. you can see the suspect caught on surveillance video in south philadelphia at the 19-year-old victim's hand is on his throat. she told police early wednesday morning this man tackled her on war on the street and then pulled her dress down. she pepper sprayed him and hit him in the throat before he ran away. ashleigh forte heard the woman screaming and called 911. >> we heard it start, went away for a little bit and then it got really close. these intruders have to be taken down. and it's great that it's a woman if she actually saved herself from what could have potentially been very bad for her and her family. >> the victim had minor injuries but will be okay. we learned it could take days even weeks before we learn of the cause of prince's death but today we did learn new

details about the investigation. investigators say that there were no obvious signs of foul play. staff members of prince's studio found the 57-year-old unresponsive in an elevator yesterday morning. he was pronounced dead a short time later. today musician and close friend sheila e. remembered prince as driven and generous man. >> he gave his all in everything that he did. and the way that he gave his all in writing songs and performing, the fans meant everything to him. >> funeral plans for prince have not yet been finalized. ♪ this weekend you can pay tribute to prince by watching his classic film "purple rain." amc theaters are playing the movie all week long ploep indications in our area are cherry hill, hamilton. let's say quest for the cup

a teenage girl killed after a fight in her high school. tonight police are looking for clues on social media. this as the community mourns. nbc10's drew smith reports from wilmington tonight. >> reporter: as each hour passes the memorial for amy joyner francis grows here outside howard high school. at the same time, parents and students continue to wait for answers. these students are hurting. they leaned on each other wondering why their 16-year-old friend is now dead. >> for this to happen is just heartbreaking because she never looked for trouble in any way. >> reporter: yesterday morning officials told nbcso francis died after an assault in the school bathroom. >> when i seen her, like, go

the nbc10 app and nbc10.com. we're bridnging the forecas closer than ever before. tracking some showers around the area, sheena. >> yes, that's right, kate. showers tonight and with your neighborhood weather forecast p aside from the fact that we are a lot more specific with the forecast like a lot of you viewers asked us to be, your seven-day is always going to be scrolling at the bottom of your screen whether you're in pennsylvania, new jersey, or delaware. you will always have that seven-day forecast right with you can see it. right now though we're looking at center city. not too much happening. we do have light rain around. here's a look at the radar currently. now, it's mostly on the eastern coast of the united states where we're seeing all of the nasty weather. but it's also pretty unorganized. so we don't have any organized thunderstorms rolling through right now. but we do have some light rain. one area that we are paying attention to as we go through the overnight hours tonight is really this heavier area. it's just off to our west. just to the north and west of

the lehigh valley. this has heavier shower activity in it. as we go through the overnight hours expect more showers to roll through. some will be lingering as we go into tomorrow morning. a live look right now just some very light rain across new jersey and delaware. the overall motion is very skalterred but it's moving mainly from west to east. so again, we'll see it linger through the morning hours tomorrow and some of you will possibly see it into the afternoon. but that's mostly new jersey and delaware. so take a look what future weather does. as we go through the next couple of hours we will still keep the rain around. if you are still going to be out tonight or early tomorrow morning, if you're waking up and walking out, we're still going to be seeing this wet pattern in place. 7:30 tomorrow morning. cloudy, possibly some light showers even north and west of philadelphia. that will be lingering in new jersey and delaware, even by 10:00 a.m. not everyone at 10:00 a.m. will see the rain. i think north and west of philadelphia well see more clearing. saturday afternoon. more clearing through the poconos into philadelphia.

but then look at the shore and parts of delaware. we could still be seeing rain lingering, not until later in the day saturday and saturday night does the shore finally start to clear out. for tomorrow though, the forecast with your neighborhoods starting with the lehigh valley, redding high, 67 degrees. mid 60s, bethlehem. 66 in easton. closer to philadelphia as we get into the pennsylvania suburbs newtown, west chester could see light rain. upper 60s. philadelphia area and the neighborhoods like mount airy could see early la rain lingeri. low 70s. new jersey, better chance for rain tomorrow. temperatures in south jersey like trenton, glassboro, low 70s. also along the shore, early morning rain could last into the afternoon. atlantic city, 62 degrees. tomorrow, avalon coming in around 68 degrees. for delaware upper 60s to 70 degrees. rain around as we go through the afternoon as well. going into the weekend it's really just saturday we're going to see the lingering rain.
