new court documents show the city believes the officers were justified. investigators say he had a revolver on him and residue indicates he fired the gun before police arrived. the attorney general's office is still investigating. >> skyforce10 live over breaking news in north philadelphia, an accident involving police there. there's the scene. 25th and diamond. working to see if anyone is hurt. we have a crew heading there now. the vehicles collided in the middle of the intersection which is blocked off there. as soon as we learn anything new about this, though, we'll let you know. meantime, happening, the search for an escaped inmate in camden county entered the 11th hour. the inmate escaped from a minimum security prison weeks before he was due for parole. he was held at ancora psych

yacht trick hospital, but he was missing when they did a head count at 6:00 this morning. nbc 10's south jersey reporter is following the story all day. where is the search focused tonight? >> reporter: well, keith, teams of corrections officers and local police have been racing up and down the rural roads all day, and we have tried our best to keep up with them. they have scoured several square miles in and around ancora hospital checking barns and summer cabins, but so far, no sign of him. he's 5'9", 180 pounds, a goatee and tattoo under the left eye. new jersey's department of corrections says a prisoner bed check at 6:00 this morning alerted officers that author had escaped. >> very scary. i came down, locked the doors, put the alarm on, you know, looking out every window. >> reporter: neighbors who live here and nearby, all towns within a mile or two radius of

the facility are concerned, watching officers, with a rifle and k-9 teams canvas the summer camp log cabins and other wooded areas all day long. >> keep your eyes out, lock your doors, yeah. >> reporter: he knows the drill. it's not the first time. six months ago, this inmate escaped the same unit, a minimum security facility. he was captured the same day in philadelphia. >> a couple escaped. i have not really worried about it too much depending on what -- how dangerous they are. >> reporter: this mom hopes new jersey's department of corrections works to tighten up in and around ancora. >> residents deserve that. we pay high taxes, and we're not getting security we zerve deser family, hoempmeowners, and taxpayers. there's so many woods here. i hope they catch him quick because i don't want to go to bed tonight knowing if my door

outburst proves he doesn't have the temperament to be president. meanwhile, trump opened a new headquarters in middlesex county and did not attend the opening, and those who did got a free trump t-shirt. new jersey's primary is june 7. hillary clinton addressed the drug overdose epic in the u.s. during a discussion in west virginia today. overdose is personally to the clintons. they lost five close family and friends including a law student who was the presidential candidates intern when she was secretary of state. the key, clinton says, is treatment and recovery, not incarceration. today, bernie sanders sat down for breakfast with a labor leader in indianapolis. walking into the restaurant, sanders said he was not worried about the rain keeping voters away from the polls. sanders talked about trade and said he's the best candidate to reform trade policies. when some students at a

going forward. >> jim, you'd expect p cruz would be favored in indiana, conservative, christian state, but trump is surging there. is the race over if trump wins? >> absolutely right about it being a state that cruz should win. endorsed by the conservative governor, mike pence, and a very conservative christian state. that said, should he lose indiana, his -- they have to do some soul searching in the cruz camp to determine whether to go forward or not. >> a good transition there, moving forward, to today's numbers mean anything for voters in new jersey? will those votes be important in the delegate count if trump wins? >> look, i believe indiana is relevant regardless unless cruz gets out of the race or trump crushes it in california. that being said, it's chris christie's home state, he'll do a great job for the candidate and turning out big numbers. >> all right, jim, thanks so much for talking with us. >> thanks for having me on.

that it should be sliding mostly south of delaware. if anything, sussex county could get thunderstorms, but mostly, a fairly dry evening, just maybe lingering light sprinkles. that's really about it, though. tomorrow morning, the rain chances go up again neighborhood temperatures right now, mostly in the 50s through the area. we'll take a look at south jersey neighborhoods, though, so now we're able to really narrow it down. hopefully your neighborhood is on the map, if you're in south jersey, 55 degrees, and pitman 55, and lumberton at 56 degrees. 55 degrees in medford. 57 in hamilton. 54 in princeton, and 56 degrees. it is cool outside. it is cloudy. we're going to keep the weather pattern going throughout the rest of the week. here's weather. so for the rest of the evening, clouds are going to stay in place. can't rule out isolated sprinkles, but look what happens tomorrow morning. this is 6:30 tomorrow morning,

so you see the light rain, mostly and west of philadelphia. wouldn't be surprised if we have heavier pockets in there, tooings but rain for the morning commute and early morning fog. otherwise, look at scatters showers throughout the day. this is lunchtime tomorrow, and some scattered rain, keep umbrellas handy, and 4:00 p.m., models show heavier rain on the shore, watching that closely, and another damp day into thursday, 8:00 thursday morning, overcast skies, maybe some light sprinkles around through the day on thursday as well. you see the clouds are really locked in. for tomorrow, though, morning fog around. the afternoon forecast in the lehigh valley, high of 55 degrees only in reading, 54 in bethlehem and easton with the scattered showers starting early in the morning. pennsylvania suburbs like phoenixville at 56 degrees, newtown at 55. and areas around philadelphia liat 57 degrees with the rain around,

recognition of the day of liberation. they held a luncheon in wynnewood county, and a candle light ceremony honored those who lost theirs, and kids from the early childhood center class performed for those in attendance. one of the most famous photos from world war ii. an investigation underway to see if one of the men was misidentified. one of the men raising the american flag in japan is not john bradley, but instead, it may be harold schultz. this was adapted into a book and movie. a teenager in india dead after accidently shooting himself with a gun while posing for a selfie. police say the 15-year-old had a loaded gun pointed to his head and pulled the trigger while taking the picture with a smart phone. the gun belonged to the teen's father. they have the highest number of people who died while taking

names came out in court today. we have been in court since the start. >> tell us more about the names heard in court today. >> reporter: many were family, friends, acquaintances, many others that the codefendants did business with, but then president obama, vice president biden, family members of the defendants as well as congressmens, seated, not seated, and former philly mayors. it's a who's who list of politicians from the president to state representatives. none of the potential jurors say they have a close relationship with president obama, one potential juror told the court he has a close friendship with the in-laws to vice president biden. those with the law enforcement background have been dismissed as well as jurors who told the judge in private they couldn't be fair juror. those we asked on the way out didn't say why they couldn't sit in judgment of the congressman and four others who the government says took part in misuse of federal grant moneys or a bribery scheme. we learned the names of dozens

of people who may be brought into the case. the congressman's wife, and former governor, and ed rendell, michael nutter, and all listed as potential witnesses or names that could be used at trial. it is unclear if those people will actually testify. who plans to bring them up? prosecutors or the defense? jurors have been asked if they have any affiliation to fattah's campaigns, profits he's seesh associated with, or connections with the bank or schools as part of the case. the jury seated in the last couple minutes, and the congressman left the courthouse here saying it was a great day. he says he did not talk about anything about his chances or how he feels going into the trial which is set to begin on may 16th. reports live outside the courthouse, nbc 10 news. >> thank you. police in south jersey say a baseball bandit struck again robbing a second bank in less than a week. cameras captured the suspect

look at this video from the jersey shore, firefighters working to put out that fire right there after lightning struck a housing complex in cape may overnight. nbc 10 jersey shore bureau reporter, ted greenberg, surveys the damage and why crews had a tough time getting enough firefighters to the scene. >> reporter: njolted out of bed when mother nature focused

energy on their neighborhood. >> it's the biggest boom i've ever heard. i mean, it felt like a bomb had gone off. >> reporter: living across the street from where a bolt struck a chimney on st. james place at 1:00 a.m. the fire quickly raced across rooftops, burning through two adjoining townhouses. one vacant, a woman in the other got out safely. >> it was scary. >> the first alert weather team tracked hundreds of strikes just before the fire overnight. cape may easily saw the most lightning as the line of storms moved through the area. >> when it comes to lightning strikes, it's definitely no joke. >> reporter: before the blaze in cape may, a fire broke out in this home in neighboring lower township, creating a logistical challenge for firefighters. >> they called us for help as they normally do, and we turned them down. >> completed our mu chill chew aide from the start so we drew people from the north,

middletownship and wildwood. >> reporter: they had the flames under control in a couple hours. authorities say the two houses that burned will likely have to be built. >> people around here are afraid of hurricanes. you don't think of lightning. you know it's harmful, but you don't think about it. >> reporter: many of the homes here are occupied only in the summer season. firefighter tell me it's fortunate people were around to call 911, otherwise, they say the damage could have been even worse. in cape may, ted greenberg, nbc 10 news. a live look at the scene in cape may, a different one tonight. the heavy rain is past, but it's far from beach weather out there. in fact, nobody's there. sheena, will we see sun again? >> yeah, eventually. if not, that's really, really bad, but sun eventually by the weekend. meantime, we're going to keep the overcast skies the cool temperatures, and the rain in the forecast for the rest of the

you look at it closely, the movement is basically from west to east, so if anything, i think some of that skim parts of southern delaware, mostly, though, we'll see more rain moving in as we go overnight and for the morning commute. our weather story, we're going to stay cloudy and damp, and cool as we go through the next several days. here's future weather as we go overnight, just mostly cloudy, can't rule out the showers, and by 6:30 in the morning, showers especially flu the lehigh valley. philadelphia area could see light rain in the morning, and by the middle of the day, we'll have some rain around, so scatters showers throughout the day, periods of light rain, and models are trying to put heavier rain in in the afternoon right along our shore points, possibly the delaware beaches. we'll watch for that closely tomorrow afternoon. we go into thursday, not as much in the way of rain, but cloudy and cool, going to have a chance for at least some sprinkles, very light passing showers, even through thursday night.

friday, we're going to have more heavy rain moving in, we'll watch that closely, too, before the weekend gets here. tomorrow, some morning fog in the forecast, 55 for the high in millville, and 55 in new jersey, so the umbrella. atlantic city 53 tomorrow and wildwood with showers. morristown 56 degrees, philadelphia at 57 degrees, scattered showers throughout the day, and in delaware, areas like wilmington and harrington at 58 degrees with scattered showers. as we go into the pennsylvania neighborhoods, philadelphia area right around the mid to upper 50s. in the pennsylvania suburbs like newtown, mid-50s with fog and scattered showers. in the lehigh valley, 54 allentown, and 55 degrees in reading tomorrow afternoon. make sure you have umbrellas with you all the way through friday. we expect heavy rain as we go into friday. temperatures still barely reaching 60 degrees, mostly around 57, and if you're along the shore, we could see a threat of flooding into friday.
