received classified. the director says no, that's not true. and then he said, somebody in your position should have known better even on some of the exchanges that were there. she has a credibility problem, it's the head of the fbi that says she has a credibility problem. on any other day against any other candidate, this would be a total and complete disaster, but it's something about trump that kind of you say, well, she can recover, i guess. >> nicole, no recommendation of charges. chuck though touched on just one of the contributions laid out, the account was vulnerable to hackers, perhaps to foreign actors. deleted work e-mails, multiple servers, multiple devices, this goes against what she said. even without a recommendation of an indictment, did you feel the race changing at all? >> i had this feeling that what i always think is true is that voters always get it right. even when they don't have all the information, their gut take on people is always right and on

the question, we talked about this yesterday, on the question of honesty and trust worthiness, she's a 22-point deficit to donald trump. what happened yesterday, affirms what voters already know to be true is that she has a complicated relationship to the truth. i would say to your point, i watched the 66-minute trump speech last night and nearly wept. he got to the points he needed to make to bring this into focus with the politically neutral fbi director said about hillary clinton lying on six occasions about e-mail practices, but it was wrapped in so much other stuff, i wasn't sure and i'm still not sure that it will be the effective, sort of honing in on a message that he needs to prosecute if he wants to win. >> the question is whether trump prosecutes the political case, still legal questions ari about whether this is a criminal case. if you look at that statute, there was an issue that was raised and people are keying into words that the fbi said. she was extremely careless with her e-mail practices.

there is a criminal statute that allows for a prosecution if someone is grossly negligent, and for many people, especially a lay ear, you hear careless and grossly nejts, sounds like the same thing, sounds like a case that could be brought. >> i think it's an important point, but one that jim comey is well aware and the bush administration, there is no standard that they didn't meet criminally, and the carelessness is a judgment call. it is a criticism, but i would call it a nonlegal criticism. he carefully picked those words to say that. and that goes to what happened yesterday. unusual presentation that allows people to process this information. it was effectively a very clean book of health on the ideaed that there were no crimes, because not only said we recommend no charges, no reasonable prosecutor would move forward on these facts, and then, as just discussed, the outlying many things that are disconcerting potentially for voters. i think what's important here if there's a page to turn is we have a legal process, we have an fbi that tries to be

nonpartisan. jim comey will be working for the next president no matter whom it is. and so this is a chance for folks to look at what he said, voters to assess, and to go back to policy and political analysis after the legal analysis from our career investigators has been no crime occurred here. >> trump has said, petraeus was charged for doing less. is that a correct analogy? >> legally that is not true. david petraeus took eight notebooks physically and handed them to someone who had no authorized access -- >> she had clearance -- >> let me finish. signed a plea deal with prosecutors that said he admitted to misleading fbi agents in october 2012. there are differences, there's a fair debate all of this, but that case does have different legal facts. >> chuck, quickly, hillary clinton was campaigning with president obama a couple hours after all of this happened, no reference, not even a hint about it. does this go away as easy as they hope? >> i don't think it goes away. i think the cloud is still there.

be disturbing to many viewers. here's gabe gutierrez. >> reporter: police say they were dispatched after an anonymous 911 call claiming someone had a gun. when he arrived, two officers confronted 37-year-old alton sterling, and things escalated. this cell phone video reportedly shot by a witness from inside a car, and not verified by nbc news shows what happened next. it clearly shows that two police officers tackling and wrestling sterling to the ground. what happens next is not as clear. the camera turning away from the incident. seconds later, someone can be heard saying, he's got a gun followed by audible gunshots. nbc news does not know what happened before or after what is shown in the recording. baton rouge police released a statement saying sterling was killed. so far, authorities have not provided details about what happened or what caused the police to pull their firearms. both officers involved have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure. the fatal shooting sparking

mindset, i could be hurt. but fire walks like this have become controversial. less than two weeks ago, famed motivational speaker tony robins hosted a fire walk for thousands in dallas, dozens were injured. >> the coals didn't do us good tonight. we got burned. >> reporter: a spokesperson for the event saying 911 wasn't necessary and only five of 7,000 participants requested any examination beyond what was readily available on site. so why do it? fire walking experts say it's about transforming your life and conquering your fears. but some doctors say, walking on hot coals is really about something else. >> mental fabrication will not get you across safely. it's not mind over matter. >> reporter: so what is the science? how does it work? first, they light a fire and let it the burn down. the charcoal is hot, 1,000

degrees. those coals are covered with a thin layer of ash. that's what your foot touches and it's cooler than what's burning below. protecting your feet from the fire, and doctors say, it's also the way you walk. >> you want to step lightly, but walk briskly. when you run, you have more contact with your feet on the hot coals, then you could risk having a burn. >> reporter: it is good advice as i'm about to do this live. just to point out to you, we're outside right now, but we're doing the actual walk inside of a tent because most of these fire walks happen at night, they mentally want you to be able to see the orange so you're not fooled with the daylight that it's just ash. i should point out to you, we have an ambulance on standby. we have paramedics ready to go, and we are joined by tony sim s simons, good to see you. i want to address the critics, this is a way to get people into the seminars, to pay money. and it's really got nothing to

do with spirituality or mentalism, it's got to do with sciences and physics. >> no problem, of course it's physics, everything comes down to physics, there's a bunch of reasons why it can work. the reason why people do it is because it helps them stay focussed. it gives people access to more courage which is useful in life as you face a scary, daunting situation, and you stay focussed and relaxed, and thoughtful in approaching that. >> reporter: so you're saying it's a way for people -- what your position is, it's a way for people to say, i've walked through fire, i can handle whatever challenge. >> it makes people realize how powerful they are. as for the money, i don't do this for money, my day job is i'm a professor at cornell university, i teach leadership, i research on integrity, and it pays way better than fire walking. >> reporter: let's do the burn. >> i do this because i love it. >> reporter: you'll walk in with me. we're going inside the tent. and i will tell you, i'm incredibly nervous. we'll sea how this works.
