controversies, but for making his products abroad instead of here in the u.s. the democratic presidential nominee toured the knotty tie company. many of its employees came to this country as refugees. clinton compared a hillary for america necktie made in the factory with a trump tie made in china. >> he wants to make america great again, he should start by making things in america. and there's a lot he could learn by coming here. >> next, clinton will discuss the economy in nearby commerce city, colorado. now to breaking news on the jersey shore. the trump taj mahal plans to close the casino after labor day, blaming striking workers. tomorrow will mark the longest strike in atlantic city casino history. the jersey shore bureau reporter ted greenberg is joining us live from the taj in atlantic city. the workers obviously not happy with this latest announcement,

ted. >> reporter: they're not, jim. union leaders tell me that a shutdown likely would not happen until october, because those workers legally have to be given a certain amount of notice. and tonight the striking employees here on the boardwalk say the announcement shouldn't come as a surprise, but they're still standing by their decision to walk out. striking trump taj mahal workers say the word from management was not what they expected. that the struggling casino will close after labor day. >> as a family, mortgage, bills, two daughters going to college, it's going to be very tough. >> is the strike worth it then? >> yes, it was. >> reporter: the shutdown will leave more than 2,300 taj mahal employees out of work. about half are members of unite here local 54. who have been on strike since july 1st. they want health and pension benefits restored after a bankruptcy court judge allowed the taj mahal's former owners to

eliminate those benefits nearly two years ago. union president bob mcdevot is lashing out at the current owner carl icahn. >> for him to say he's going to close the property against strikers is absurd. he's closing the property because that's what he wants to do. >> it does take us by surprise. we thought he would actually come to the table and make a decent proposaproposal. >> reporter: currently the taj is losing multimillions a month. with this strike, we see no path to profitability. >> it's a shame. i don't want to see a loss of a job. >> reporter: taj customer mike smith sides with icahn. >> this build iing would have bn closed a long time ago if not for the current owner. >> reporter: i got this statement from atlantic city mayor, it says in part, quoting here, it's unfortunate and disappointing that no resolution was found to keep the taj mahal

open with the hopes of making it profitable again. he also said his thoughts and prayers are with the employees who are now set to lose their jobs. live in atlantic city, ted greenberg, nbc 10 news. >> the bigger picture here, the taj mahal closing will be another blow in the economic crisis in atlantic city. this will leave seven casinos. the showboat just reopened as a hotel only. the former revel has not reopened yet. frustrated riders on septa's regional rails should see improvement to service by the end of the month. the transit agency announced today that repairs have begun of the cracked load-bearing beams in a third of its fleet starting august 21st, septa will roll out ten repaired cars a week until all 120 of them are back on track. >> we want to treat our customers well. we want them to come back, the ones that have gone for a while. >> it's a hassle but it's for safety. i'd rather be safe than dead. >> septa says its entire fleet

should be back together and up to speed by mid-november. philadelphia police are looking for four teenagers who attacked and pulled a gun on an 11-year-old near a park in ulney. investigators say this teen is wanted in connection with that attack. the victim was chased from the basketball court behind the ulney rec center to a nearby alley. at least one suspect pulled out a handgun, forced the victim to remove all his clothes and then he's beaten. >> i'm living here, but i -- i don't want to take my kids to play here. >> it's sad, first and foremost, because how do a kid get ahold of a gun. see what i'm saying? especially a teenager. >> the victim says his attackers were between the ages of 14 and 15. they were wearing red and white clothing. if you can help, police would like to hear from you. bill cosby's lawyer doesn't want jurors in his sex assault case to hear a phone call between cosby and the accuser's mother. they filed a motion to get the

onshore wind as well. now, everything's going to be beautiful as we go through tomorrow. and into friday, it's still looking dry. but it's saturday when we've got a front coming down, and some showers. general area of showers and a thunderstorm, especially in the afternoon, and into the evening, and then it moves out in time for sunday. so even if we do get a thunderstorm saturday, it's not going to be a washout. it will be hot. it will be humid. as you can see, 92 in philadelphia. even the jersey shore is going to be fairly hot. because of the land breeze later in the day. and a land breeze on sunday, too. but that's drier air moving in. lower humidity. beautiful day on sunday. so if you definitely want dry weather, shoot for sunday. friday's definitely dry at 88 degrees. 92 with thunderstorms on

i'm john clark from csn. the phillies placed one of their young pitchers on the disabled list. aaron has a strained elbow. he was supposed to start tonight, so they've called up phil cline to take his place. jake thompson could come up for nola's next start. nola has really struggled the last two months. but he just started to feel the pain after his last outing here. they could shut him down for the rest of the season. but he hopes to pitch again. >> i definitely want to. i'm definitely going to do everything that i need to do to get recovered with this. and really hope i can be back at the end of the year. >> end of the year, could be a while. gomez has been placed on the paternity list. someone else is going to close out the game tonight and maybe a
