radar here, and you have to go a long way to the west, practically to the rockies before you find any significant rain. it's 82 degrees in philadelphia now and 78 in wilmington and 75 in coatesville. we've got places with sunshine in august only in the 70s. so, yeah, that's a fairly cool air mass that we've got, and that's going to allow the temperature to drop quite a bit once the sun goes down. by 6:00 a.m. down to 61 degrees in the city of philadelphia. many of the suburbs it's going to get much colder. 53 degrees in those p.a. suburbs like chester, montgomery and bucks county and in the lehigh valley and burks county, burks, lehigh and north hampton 54 degrees for the low by morning. even some 50s in parts of new jersey. it will heat up. we'll let you know about that, and the tropics are heating up which could be an important thing, too. that's coming up in a few minutes.

>> thanks, glenn. nbc 10 has learned new details about a deadly shooting inside a philadelphia home. police have now identified the victim as hakim raman. his six children were inside the home when he was shot and nbc 10's me beak braxton has more on what happened to those children and the search for their father's killer. >> reporter: video seen first on nbc 10 home side detectives searching the car of a 36-year-old man killed in front of some of his six children. investigators say they are ages 5 to 13. just your thoughts that this would happen, that someone would come through the back and shoot him and kill him? >> no, no, because i'm still peeping to see where did they come through the back. >> reporter: we went through the alley behind 3730 37th street to see where detectives believe two killers entered the home. you can see the grass is worn down. police say a shotgun, ammunition and a knit skull cap that may have been used for a mask were

aceto from delaware county hit an older woman near masher and lehigh in north philadelphia early saturday morning and then hit another person. the man is now facing several charges, including homicide by vehicle and him driving under the influence. and members of the philadelphia fire department and the red cross return to the germantown neighborhood where one person died in a fire yesterday. they conducted a fire safety walk through east klatchier street and installed free smoke alarms. one person was killed and two others critically injured after fire trapped them inside a house. investigators are still working to determine what sparked the fire. it was back to school this morning for some students in the area. philadelphia police officers welcomed students back to charter school douglas elementary as part of an ongoing effort to foster a healthy relationship between police and the community. students were welcomed back on

september 7th. a total of 85 providers have applied to expand quality pre-k in the student for more than 4,000 students by the start of next year. those applications are now being reviewed, and the city's pre-k program will expand by an additional 1,000 seats for the 2017-2018 school year. an additional 1,000 seats every year after that until 2020 when 1,500 seats are added. drivers who normally travel along i-95 north from center city may want to find another route this week. penndot says lane cloesh hours will go into effect from 9:00 at night until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow to thursday. crews will be reviewing repair work on the viaduct on lehigh avenue. courts are getting involved in transgender rights. that update at 5:00 and gabby

breakingies in. police have captured a suspect wanted for killing a man and wounding a young girl. officers arrested samuel james in camden county about an hour ago. police say james shot byron turner in the head outside a home in burlington on saturday night. a 5-year-old girl was hurt while running from the gunfire. she was not shot. well, there is new fallout following the biggest blemish on the olympics in brazil. three of ryan lochte's major sponsors are severing ties with the american swimmer. >> the news comes after lochte admitted to exaggerating a story that he and three other teammates were robbed at gunpoint in rio during the

successful, the judge could order a whole new trial. a second person is now charged in the murder of a penn state professor who fell 80 feet to his death after being pushed off a cliff. danelle geier was arraigned in the death of 56-year-old ronald bettig over the weekend. authorities charged george ishler jr. last week. bettig was an associate professor of media studies at penn state. they say the two suspects dude bettig to a quarry by telling him they would be investing and harvesting marijuana plants, but they pushed him off a cliff instead. police believe the two thought they would benefit from a will the professor recently signed. there's a new task force in pennsylvania devoted to improving the lives of military veterans. the 21-member panel will work to bring together public and private resources, information and strategies to address veterans issues, everything from employment and housing to mental health and legal services.

the father of a toddler killed by an alligator at disney world reached into the animal's mouth to try to free his son's head. that's according to the final report on the child's death released today by florida's wildlife agency. it says the seven-foot gator by the the 2-year-old boy's head back in june as he bent down at the edge avilla goon as disney's grand floridian resort. the report says the boy died from a crushing bite and drowning and also claims the boy did nothing to provoke the animal. the zika virus is sparking new fears in miami beach after confirmation that thes about has spread to one of the country's

mid-august to mid-october. fiona out in the middle of the atlantic not doing too much. another disturbance not too far away. this is the one that we'll need to be watching the most closely and farther out in the atlantic tropical depression seven has just formed right along the coast of africa. another big blob and then in the middle of the couldn't net we've got another big blob. it's one after another that starts coming east to west and this time of the year this is very typical and it's called the cape verde season because the cape verde islands are coming not too far off of africa and lots of those storms come from that direction and these tend to be the types of storms that can get very powerful. this is the one storm that i was telling you has the most chance to affect anybody in our portion of the world. the closer they are, the more sure we are about the forecast, so at least for the next few days i'm pretty sure it's headed
