few showers through the lehigh valley, mainly pennsylvania suburbs, but we have 60s and 70s behind this cold front and tomorrow we're going to be a lot cooler, noticeably schooler. there's a friend right now, ahead of it we have some showers, some cloud cover here, mostly locally in burks down, lehigh valley a few light showers. and as we go into your weekend, more showers coming up. # the pennsylvania race for u.s. senate is one of the most competitive races in the country. poll averages show pat toomey and katy mcginty separated by half a point with advertising reaching nearly every resident. most of the money is coming from outside interests.

$16 million for the entire race. but they spent 111 million opposing mcginty and $16.7 million opposing toomey. we asked if pennsylvania voters are well served by all the outside influences in this race. >> in many cases they're not. in many cases it creates confusion and it's inaccurate. that's why i have long thought that the much better system is to have the candidates in control of their message because you can hold candidates accountable. >> i think voters are smart, i think they will take into account what they see on the, they'll take account of what they read in the newspapers but then they'll listen to trusted friends, neighbors. >> reporter: to put the numbers in context that 43 million in spending would be enough to send 3500 philly children to school for a year. it would pay the starting salary

so we are well above normal for this time of year. and look at our current temperatures, we're still around 90 for most of the area, even along the shore, it's a warm day, summer's point, 83 degrees. cape may courthouse 82. atlantic city coming in at 80 degrees. i mentioned we do have a few showers moving through, most of the area is dry, but these showers are part of a cold front moving through, so if you're in burks county, you're about to see some heavy rain out of this. we do have some showers here, mostly the lehigh valley. allentown area, seeing some moderate rainfall here, but upper bucks county, you can expect some of these showers move in. i don't think it will be a big deal. but we are watching it very closery, it's all part of this cold front and that cold front's going to swing through tonight really cool us down as we go through tomorrow. then you notice this other thin spinning off the coast of south
