stretching into the city of philadelphia. we are live at the crime scene. matt, tell us what happened. >> reporter: well, right here on the 600 block of bailey road a woman was found dead. she had been slashed and her throat slashed right there at the neck. it was a blood trail here on the sidewalk though that lead police on quite the journey this morning. the owner of the house called 911 just after 3:00. he had been expecting the woman last night. he went to bed, woke up, looked out his door and saw her lying there. police started following this blood trail that started here, went over into the city. detectives found what they described to us as a steak knife that was thrown into a storm drain. it appears to be the murder weapon but the hunt for the suspect has turned up nothing but this blood trail. >> wow, that's definitely from

the suspect, without a doubt. he left the crime scene and left injuries as a result of this altercation. he was cut somewhere. he was losing blood for more than half a mile from the crime scene to the area. >> reporter: so again, this is the blood trail from the suspect. the victim is 32 years old. police have been interviewing family members and looking for surveillance video looking to find out who did this and why. identity matt delucia, nbc 10 news. someone fire bombed a car with a person inside. it happened around 5:30 this morning. medics took the victim to the hospital with second-degree burns. so far police have not arrested anyone. right now there's a state of emergency in charlotte, north carolina. some companies have actually asked plays to stay home today.

happened just before midnight. we are working to get more details including the victim's condition. a cashier recovering after being hit in the head at this 7-eleven. police say two armed men went into the store. they took cash but not before bashing the cashier in the head. police are still looking for these two men. a man pulled a mask down over his face and raised a 2 by 4 like a bat. the robber made off with money and police are still looking for him. and new video just released by philadelphia police shows a man using a u-haul to ram through a storage center. the first time he hits the building it wasn't quite enough. he backs up and hits it again,

this time busting a huge hole where the accomplice used to be. he found some money and the two then took off in the u-haul. police investigate whether he has been involved in several reported road rage incidents. the fraternal order of police working to learn more about what lead up to the most recent claim. part of that was captured in this exclusive video. you can see a truck there cutting off a driver on roosevelt boulevard. he told us he recognized the black chevy truck with a punisher decal. he also had a run-in with the same officer. >> when he tried to speed up to get in front of my his back rear

backyard is a burn mark from setting up a bomb. his family knew about it because someone took a video of him doing it. they obtained video moments after an explosive device. you can see rahami wheeling a suitcase. also seen in the video, two men who are believed to have taken the bag but left behind the became that was inside. the fbi released this wanted poster. authorities say they are treating the men as witnesses, not suspects. some people in puerto rico are still in the dark after a nearly island wide power outage. a fire knocked out electricity throughout the island, malls, airports, homes and traffic lights all lost power. some won't have power until tomorrow. the cause of the fire is still

under investigation. just in, we flew over a p propane tank that has a slow leek. the police department is out there and some of the employees are on the sidewalk. one of the buildings at this plant has been evacuated. the fire department is telling us no one is hurt and they are working to stop that leak. and more rain is expected today for parts of an already water logged minnesota. check out this flooding just outside of minneapolis last night. some pushing their cars down the street and business owners trying to mop up inches of rain. a wet start to the fall there in minneapolis. we have got plenty of sunshine. humidity stays low which means

we are in far clear and pleasant evening. on the ride now with the wind picking up too especially at the shore. this is coming on shore that will cokeep things cooler. it is 80 in philadelphia. jersey shore at 77. it will not get a lot warmer there. already close to the 80 degree mark. this is a big warm up from the 50s we saw this morning n.in th lehigh valley. already 80 in this area. the airport at 79 degrees. society hill reporting 80 degrees and 80 at philadelphia international airport. we'll wind up about 10 degrees above normal. it feels like fall. the humidity really coming down. this afternoon 37% humidity in philadelphia.

higher at the shore thanks to the sea breeze that will be blowing through the day. clouds are staying farther to the south. the rain is to the south too. we have seen sprinkles. that's not repeating today. it shows a sprinkle right now. most of that is not even reaching the ground because of dry air moving into the area. we'll be in for a weekend cool down but before we get to the weekend unseasonably warm weather continues for today and tomorrow. tomorrow even warmer. look at the turn around in those temperatures for saturday and sunday and into monday with very cool mornings as well. it's not just philadelphia. the entire region will get that cool down with mostly clear skies. a dry weekend, upper 70s for philadelphia and middle 70s for the suburbs and lehigh valley. at the shore 72 degrees. it is turning cooler on sunday.

the body of a woman whose throat had been slashed. mat is live for us at the crime scene. give us the context of what happened here. >> reporter: right in front of this house a woman was found dead. she was bleeding from the neck.

police say this trail of blood here head then on quite a jury any. the homeowner called 911. >> the resident indicated this female was expected to arrive at her house about 11:30 last night. he fell asleep and woke back up and looked out the front door and discovered her there. >> the woman was lying there with her throat slashed. she was pronounced dead at the scene. police following this blood trail that went into upper darby and into the city. they described to us what was a steak knife. it appears to be the murder weapon. canine dogs were working throughout the morning trying to track the suspect but lost the

with nbc 10 in new york. >> a couple of hours ago the nation's top military officials met to take on tough questions about the war in syria. they are not taking more steps to end the five-year-old vifl war. they are hostile and al qaeda. >> assad said syria did not launch the attack this week. the u.s. claims that russia was responsible for the air strike earlier this week. the air strike killed 20 people. united nations spokesman said due to deliver aid today. for the past two days a suspension on deliveries after that deadly air strike.

you say so long to summer but not the summer weather. it's a warm start to autumn as we take a look along the jersey shore. a few people out there enjoying the beach. this first day of fall was a nice one for rollers who hit the river. feeling a little warm out there today. we are about an hour and a half now into fall. bill henley is here with our forecast. yeah, a few thin clouds on the horizon. we are seeing a quick warm up. yes, a beautiful day at the shore. you can see the soegs waves. it -- waves. the rest of the area is very dry too. sprinklers are going and no sign of any rain until we get into later next week. the temperatures, well, they have been climbing.

already in delaware 79 degrees right now. marshalton at 80. wilmington at 76. we'll warm into the 80s today. middle 70s. there are still some clouds lingering. the rainfall we had at the shore yesterday popping up at times, that's all farther to the south. but inland sunshine, 80s this afternoon. nothing but sunshine for the suburbs and for the lehigh valley. still some clouds at the shore but they have just scattered. a lot more sunshine than we have seen recently. 76 degrees this afternoon. partly sunny skies there. nothing but sunshine. that's today. turns warmer tomorrow and then the fall weather is arriving. ten day on ten to show you how long it will last coming up in a few minutes.

a shutdown pipeline back in service. relief could be on the way. crews reopened the pipeline last night. it had been shut down since september 19th because of the leak in alabama. they estimate more than 330 gallons of gas spilled. it will take several days to get back to normal. it triggered a shortage across the south that extended here to our area. the average in northern delaware is about $2.20. in the philadelphia area drivers are paying roughly $2.33. we are typically lower. national average is $2.22. police in alaska recently found themselves tracking a potentially dangerous suspect. unlike most criminals this one had four legs, thick fur and a serious attitude.

52,000 impaired arrests in pennsylvania and half of them were for drugged driving. it is becoming more and more of a seriousi issue. >> and you and i were just ta talking about your daughter whose picture is here. killed in that drunk driving crash. tell me how it impacted you and your family. >> well, it has been a really rough year. i have four other children. each day some times it's a struggle to get through. it's hard enough i think when you lose your -- it doesn't have to be your children but your family or your lived ones to a horrible disease, but alaina was killed by someone's irresponsibility. a drunk driver had a choice. she wasn't a child that was sick or had anything wrong with her.

it has ban pretty long year. it has been pretty rough. i have been trying to overcome my own injuries. >> and i read the accounts, that drunk driver is doing a sentence between 10 to 20 years. >> right. what do you want people to know about the dangers of impaired driving? >> i mean it's so irresponsible. there's consequences for your actions. call a friend. call uber, call a taxi. in this day and age there are plenty of reasons you do not have to get in a vehicle after you have had a drink. >> yeah, there's lots of options rather than just getting into a car and driving impaired. you want people to join you in walk like mad this sunday. tell us more about the event. >> this is the tenth annual walk

not been to new hope. the final phase begin at bucks could bety play house. tell us more about that. >> absolutely. they closed it in 2010 and did a huge renovation and reonned it as a nonprofit theater which is welcoming partners and audience members from all over the area. the final phase is an expansion of our back deck. what has really grown is our partnership with all of these amazing community events. we are partnering to really help new hope grow into the arts town that it can be like preventing arts and crafts festival and wonderful programming. >> and your event last year, prize winner, tell us what you love about the festival. i want to show some of your work. i don't know if our camera can
