facing off. the stage is set for the second presidential debate. now everyone is waiting to see if trump's controversial tape will play a role. >> my mother won't vote for hillary and now she won't vote for trump. >> voters react. we asked people what they're looking for heading into tonight's debate. and heartbreak for the eagles. we have highlights from tonight's down to the wire game. >> announcer: nbc 10 news starts now. >> we are now just three hours away from the debate that could define the race for president. i'm denise nakano. donald trump and hillary clinton will go head to head for the second time. the debate is taking place at washington university in st. louis, missouri. final preparations are being

made right now. now, the big question tonight is whether a tape that surfaced of trump talking about women will be the main topic of discussion. it came to light on friday, and the controversy has not let up since. and we have team coverage tonight. andrea talked to undecided voters. we begin with lauren mayk. >> we're inside the spin room right now and it's been quiet here today. not a lot of surrogates coming through, especially on the republican side. but things are just starting to pick up now. there is a lot of anticipation about what will happen on stage tonight. neither of these candidates have answered questions publicly since this tape surfaced. tonight, the questions will come from voters. donald trump especially has a lot on the line. >> reporter: the stage set at washington university for a second presidential showdown with a new leger of suspense.

arriving in st. use, donald trump's plane spotted ahead of the debate. it comes amid republican turmoil and calls for him to quit after a tape from 2005 where he made lewd comments about women. hillary clinton is likely to address it. her campaign manager tells me. >> does this affect how hillary clinton is preparing for the debate. >> unfortunately, this wasn't a terribly surprising incident. we've seen -- although it was shocking to hear, we've seen a long pattern of behavior from donald trump. >> reporter: trump could fight back with allegations rooted against her husband, bill clinton. >> they had a tough time in their marriage and it was litigated. we don't think voters are interested in hearing more now. >> reporter: the questions will come from voters on stage and online. >> we expect to get through about 11, 12 questions. about half from the town hall participants and half from social media. >> reporter: we preached out to the trump campaign and the republican party to talk to a

surrogate but they didn't provide one. rudy giuliani was the visual representative for the campaign today, appearing on "meet the press" and addressing calls for trump to get out of the race. >> he was selected by more republican voters than anyone has ever been selected in a republican primary. he owes them the duty to run. it is true that he said something and said a group of things during that interview that are reprehensible and awful and terrible and he feels terrible about it. >> you may remember that after the first presidential debate, donald trump said that he didn't bring up bill clinton's infidelities because chelsea clinton, bill and hillary's daughter, was in the audience. both chelsea and bill are expected to be in the hall tonight. i asked clinton's campaign manager whether they're prepare frd an uncomfortable situation. he said they are. live at washington university, i'm lauren mayk, nbc 10 news. >> thank you, lauren. with the election day now less than a month away, both

presidential candidates are trying to appeal to undecided voters. will the recent trump video change minds? nbc 10's aundrae joins us with what voters have to say about this. >> reaction is mixed. pennsylvania is a must-win for the candidates if they want a shot at the white house. what voters think, especially in the suburbs, is very important to republicans. >> i did try and [ bleep ] her. she was married. >> reporter: the more than 10-year-old video showing donald trump making lewd comments about women during an "access hollywood" shoot has republicans withdrawing their support. >> we're looking for a republican or trump supporter. >> reporter: we wanted to know if it was true for every day voters, especially those the campaign is relying on in the philadelphia suburbs. >> i thought about voting for trump, but his latest -- he's so degrading to women. i don't know. i would love to talk to his ex-wife. >> reporter: meanwhile, others

sees it as another gaffe but not a fatal flaw. >> it is ridiculous to take anything serious. think about the other presidents, what they did the women in history. look at bill. look at kennedy. >> i think that's just mud rucking if you ask me. i mean, you could go do the same thing with her. >> reporter: that doesn't mean they think the decision is easy this election season. >> this one, i'm leaning a little more toward him. for that reason, i want change. >> reporter: this man is still undeci undecided. he plans to follow his gut but won't make a decision until he is in the voting booth. >> i don't think any of them should be in office right now. i just feel we're doomed. >> now, while some voters are saying it is difficult to vote for donald trump, what they say is even harder, for some impossible, it's reporting for hillary clinton. nbc 10 news. >> you can watch the whole

coa coatsville, 16 for you. we've been seeing gusts up to 35 and 45 miles per hour at times. wind advisory in effect until 11:00 p.m. in most of the area, including cape may and cumberland county. coming up in my full forecast, we'll go over a couple other watches and warnings i amtrakinamtrak i -- am tracking. of course, your ten day in ten. back to you. hurricane matthew moved offshore but the deadly storm left behind a trail of wreckage from the caribbean to the carolinas. its last target, north carolina, is dealing with record-breaking flooding. new video shows dozens of homes damaged in the town of nags h d head. overnight, the coast guard was rescuing people from flooded homes. the storm claimed the lives of at least eight people in the state. to south carolina now, where thousands are still without power. the storm made landfall in the state yesterday about 30 miles north of charleston. more than 4,000 people still

remain in shelters. today, crews were out clearing streets and working to restore power. today, florida governor rick scott toured the hardest hit areas of the state. he met with leaders in jacksonville beach to discuss recovery efforts. the governor says the most jarring damage he's see is beach erosion and those impacted by the storm surge. turning now to the philadelphia eagles. they did not soar today in detroit. they were looking to keep their winning street alive against the lions. john clark joins us from ford field with the details. john? >> yeah, this is a tough loss because the eagles came back from being down 14-0 in the game. you know, they were the last team in the nfl to turn the ball over. didn't turn it over in the first three games. and 57 minutes of this one. then two turnovers on their last two offensive plays. take a look at this. ryan matthews, three yards away from icing it.

on the handoff, third and two, under three minutes to go, he fumbles the ball as he is hit. the refs reviewed it and r50ule it was a fumble. the eagles are down, 24-23. one last chance. first and ten. their own 25. 1:28 to go. carson wentz, first real deep shot of the game, over 50 yards in the air. it is not nelson agholor who comes down with it. it is lions cornerback, darius slay. two turnovers on their last two offensive plays. they lose 24-23. >> the biggest thing is we shot ourselves in the foot a couple too many times. some of the holding plays, some of those things, those happen. some of the delays of game and some of those mistakes that we can control ourselves, you know, we have to clean up. those are things we want to have back. lions, they played great. they came out and beat us and made more plays than us. >> an emotional reaction coming up from running back ryan matthews.

protesters took over a gay pride ceremony at philadelphia city hall today. >> stop and frisk and now racism. >> the group interrupted mayor jim kenny during the city's seventh annual flag raising ceremony this morning. this comes after racism claims within philadelphia's gay community. last month, an lgbt owner was under fire for allegedly using
