little burglars or little ones in need of help. now the case has turned upside down in just the past hour or so. randy jigyllenhaal has been following this the entire day. >> reporter: since our story aired at 4:00 approximately. the family of those two young children saw them and recognized their faces and brought them here to talk to zkts. it started with two tiny burglars caught on camera breaking into a local school but stealing almost nothing of real value. when the philadelphia academy charter school, school officials quickly realized there had been a break in. but when they checked their security cameras, they were shocked to see two tiny faces staring right back, a young boy and a young girl, siblings who police say broke in through a window and then rummaged through

a classroom. >> they looked like they were just about 10 or 11 years old. >> reporter: we showed that surveillance picture to local families here. >> wow, they're young. they're really young. >> reporter: distraught that kids so young would break into a school. but we have learned this is not your typical smash and grab burglary. and the school tells us the kids didn't go after high priced electronics or lap tops, instead they pilfered change and food. >> it's very sad that the kids are in that situation and it shouldn't be that way. >> detectives say charges are possible, but they're just happy the kids are safe. they say the children are not malnourished and may have just been into some mischief. >> where are the parents? the parents need to be on top of their kids. >> reporter: the school tells us nothing of real value was actually taken, they were more

concerned about the health and welfare of those two children. those two kids don't even live in the neighborhood of that charter school, so it's still unclear why and how they ended up there. >> randy gyllenhaal, nbc 10 news. to decision 2016, if you live in pennsylvania and plan on voting in november, the clock is ticking tonight. this is the last day of voter registration in the keystone state. we found stacks upon stacks of voter registration forms at the philadelphia city commissioner's office. take a look at the countdown, november 8 is just 28 days away and pennsylvania will play a key role in selecting the country's next president. we're joined by nbc 10's deanna durante live in norristown. what are you seeing there? >> reporter: people are still coming in to register to vote, the voter registration office is going to stay hope until 8:00 tonight. you can see stacks and stacks of voter registration forms.

there's about 500 of them that came in the mail just this afternoon. >> get registered, please register, it's important. >> have you ever missed an election before? >> yeah. >> but there is something about this year's election that's bringing people out. election officials in suburban county today say that turnout is high. absentee ballots are being filled out and turned in early. montgomery county has more than 16,000 new voters since the prichl election. it's a common practice in pennsylvania according to election officials. the closed primary system. this year this man's leaving the party he's been with for 36 years. election officials are working overtime, in bucks county,

a new jersey man who lost part of a finger in the hoboken train crash says he plans to sue. sheldon cast blames the state. cast was in the first car of the train that crasheded into the hoboken terminal on september 29. he also broke his nose and has cuts on his face. >> investigators say the engineer was going 21-mile-per-hour before the crash, that's twice the speed limit at the station. sky force 10 flew over this derailme derailment. the cars did not contain hazardous material.

in 2012, a derailment in paulsboro caused people to evacuate their home after toxic liquid stilled into the mantua creek. is city of philadelphia paid mail room employees more than $9,000 in overtime for hours they never worked. that is according to r a report from the city controller's office. he says surveillance video taken over an eight-week period showed that -- the mail center's supervi supervisor. >> this is fraud and it should never be tolerated. not only did it waste tax dollars, but created a hostile

got into the 30s this morning, it's into the 60s in philadelphia. it's starting to cool off, we do have sunshine across the entire area, 59 degrees, walnut port, 57 degrees. some of those places are going to see those temperatures drop. there are clouds to the west coming in that will prevent the temperature from dropping as much as last night. and the ocean, we have got some low clouds there, with a southeast wind, that will bring some clouds into the other parts of the area to prevent the temperature from dropping as much. the high pressure that was over the great lakes yesterday is right now over new england, that's why we have that easterly flow. we have a front that's going to be approaching on thursday, we were showing you this yesterday,

in the morning, but the general trend is for it to fall apart as it comes into the east. and you'll see that in your seven day forecast for the lehigh valley, you see the rain dropped and no wrowhere else. that's why we do neighborhood weather because sometimes the weather does change from one part to toot. as we go into the day tomorrow, here's what the neighborhoods look like, 41 in easton, going up to 65 as some of the clouds break up in the afternoon. 43 in redding, going up to 66, west chester going up to 45. in all of these places we're in the 30s this morning. as long as they have those clouds, they won't be getting that cool. and right now in the city of philadelphia, and temperatures at least in the 40s in parts of south jersey. got another hurricane on the

map, nicole is back to hurricane strength and strengthening rapidly and there's bermuda, and unfortunately, this 80-mile-per-hour hurricane not only is projected to come right here bermuda but strengthen and the latest forecast has it at 110 miles an hour, almost category 3. coming right into bermuda. in the next couple of days. and over the next three days, we're talking about temperatures getting into the 70s on thursday, and then dropping back. so there we are, 74 thursday, the chance of showers in the lehigh valley, then it cools off for a couple of days, as we get more sunshine, then it starts to warm up again. a look at those temperatures, 58 on monday, that's the first decent chance of showers for most of the rest of us and then on tuesday the average high is in the upper 60s. >> it's the perfect time of year
