paper work about why police believe that horvath kidnapped her from her home and murdered her. state police confirm that two pieces of bone found on horvath's property matched the dna of holly grimm. something we can just sweep under the rug as just another disturbing footnote in a sad election season. >> michelle obama makes a passionate and emotional plea in response to new assault allegations against donald trump. this all comes in the wake of four women accuses donald trump of inappropriately touching them. >> let's get over to jim rosenfield with more on today's developments. >> the backlash against donald trump has reached a new high today.
5:02 pm
hillary clinton bei michelle obama being the harshest critic. >> it's a campaign, but this isn't about politics, it's about basic human decency, it's about right and wrong. and we simply cannot endure this or expose our children to this any longer, not for another minute, and let alone for four years. >> first lady also said that trump's comments that were caught on camera were not locker room banter, she called it sexually predatory behavior. now trump is trying to appeal to younger voters right now during a campaign stop in ohio, here's a look at the podium as trump gets ready to deliver a speech to millennials in wisconsin. earlier he did respond to the new allegations and threatened to sue the "new york times" for reporting them. >> i never knew as bad as it would be, i never knew it would be this vile, that it would be this bad. that it would be this vicious.
5:03 pm
nevertheless, i take all of these slings and arrows, gladly for you. >> trump fiercely denied the claims today, saying they were all false. he made the statements during a campaign stop in west palm beach, florida. >> we have already learned who donald trump is, what we have to prove in this election is who we are. and what we stand for. and what we believe in. >> hillary clinton there addressed the allegations during a speech to campaign workers in california, the democratic nominee went on to say that the new allegations show what's at stake in this election. it all came as trump's daughter ivanka was trying to drum up support for her father in our area. she made four local stops ranging from king of prussia to bucks county. ivanka trump has been a big part of the push for women voters.
5:04 pm
today instead of talking about her father's comments, she talked about the impact of her dad on her life. >> i can uniquely talk to you about my father as a personal mentor and a great role mod m and a great dad growing up. >> attendees said they were disappointed that if vani ivan a da -- leaked e-mails appear to show members of the clinton campaign mocking catholics. one campaign official wrote i imagine they think it's the most socially acceptable politically conservative religion, their rich friends would not understand if they became

5:06 pm
nbc 10 jersey shore reporter ted greenberg discusses what investigators think may have caused today's blast. >> very big bang, sounded like an explosion. >> reporter: the blast woke up linda mccarthy and blew up a trash can on the street. >> reporter: the explosion around 1:30 this morning in barnegat township left debris scattered around the rubber can. nobody was hurt and nearby cars and homes were not damaged. county state and federal investigators are working to figure out if the blast was a prank or a chemical reaction from something put in the trash can. >> obviously doesn't fit a terrorist situation, the time of day, the location. >> reporter: the explosion shook the neighborhood less than a month after the september 17 bombings in seaside park and new york city that authorities have linked to terror suspect ahmad

raha rahami. the trash condition also had some sticks and twigs inside. both neighbors told investigators the can didn't belong to east one of them. >> that's another thing we would like to determine, where the heck did that trash can come from. >> reporter: authorities tell me none of the neighbors had received any recent threats, investigators hope their close analysis of the debris will yield for definitive answers. in barnegat township, i'm ted greenberg, nbc 10 nice. the man accused of setting off bombs in new york and new jersey last month pled not guilty today. ahmad rahear a raheem my is face counts of attempted murder and other charges. a pipe bomb in a trash can

exploded just minutes before 5k charity race for marines. no one was injured. later that night surveillance video shows people running in the chelsea neighborhood of manhattan after a bomb went off. a pressure cooker bomb was found undetonated nearby. fast forward to september 19, a bomb was found by two men near the train station there, no one was injured. now to an nbc 10 exclusive. remember more than a decade ago when geno's steaks put that sign outside asking people to please order in english? well that sign is gone. geno has run the south philly steakhouse, joey grabbed the national attention in 2006 when he put up the controversial little sign, geno quietly took it down.
5:09 pm
>> i like the hug. >> coming up at 6:00, nbc 10's tim furlong has more on the sign removal and why some say sign or no sign, they don't plan on eating at geno's again, but former mayor jim kenney said, quote, geno is a very decent young man, he is involved in our community and cares about people, #goodmove, end quote. turning to this now, a big question, will there be election day cheating in pennsylvania? why the keystone state could have a big problem because of its election day backup plan. plus is there some good coming from the sexual assault allegations being raised against donald trump? how one expert tells us the controversy is actually helping some women. and governor chris christie, hit with a criminal summons over the bridge gate scandal, we break down how ugly this could be for new jersey. and in just four games,

coming forward saying that donald trump touched them inappropriately. we know that trump has made controversial statements about women before. the conversation from trump's audio recording last week and now these accusations, is it too much for his campaign to handle? we know his numbers have been slipping. >> i'll take that first, please, because when you're dead, you're dead, the donald trump campaign died with the release of that access hollywood video, and he is going to lose, maybe even lose big. all we can hope is that he stops staining the democratic process as he rampages towards november, but he's a dead man rampaging. >> i don't know if he's a dead man rampaging, but this has turned into an -- people are getting back from this election

from both sides. and donald trump has had a bad couple of weeks, if they continue, then, yes, he's dead, if he's able to rise from the ashes like we have seen before, then maybe not. >> all these are just accusations, donald trump has yet to be charged with any crime. but this controversy really seems to be getting lost in donald trump's controversy. we told you that the phil ash ch diocese asked the clinton campaign -- will trump's statements and allegations overshadow them? >> i think that trump has become, jim, a total eclipse of the sun, he is casting all other issues into the shadows and as legitimate as some of these issues that the e-mails present maybe, they are going to remain in darkness as long as he is ranting and raving his way across the country. >> the trump comments certainly
5:15 pm
make better news than the comments of some staffers in the hillary clinton campaign, as bad as those comments may have been. i think arrethe archbishop did right thing by calling him out on this, i think we'll see more of that from catholics across the country. you also saw some insensitive remarks about latinos and the high maintenance latinos coming out of the clinton campaign, but this is inside baseball by campaign staffers, it's not coming out of hillary's mouth, but again, she's in charge of her campaign and has to be accountable for the people that work for her. >> no one's paying attention, all donald trump, all the time. >> we're all paying attention as we know we have three weeks left until election day and it continues to change every single day. mark and jim, thank you for now

how do we measure greatness in america? the height of our skyscrapers? the size of our bank accounts? no. it's measured by what we do for our children. the values we pass on. i've spent my life fighting for kids and families and it will be my mission to build a country where our children can rise as high as their dreams and hard work take them. that means good schools for every child in every zip code. college that leads to opportunities... not debt. and an economy where every young american can find a job that lets them start a family of their own. we face big challenges, but we can solve them the same way families do. working together. respecting one another. and never giving up. i want our success to be measured by theirs. i'm hillary clinton and i approve this message.
