>> and brandon you spoke with the owner of the home where the plane came down, what did she have to say? >> reporter: that woman lives on the other side of the trees here. investigators won't likely remove this small plane until tomorrow, an officer is making sure no one gets too close. we can tell you the owner of the plane wasn't on board when it crashed in the backyard. nbc 10 learned the pilot and passenger rented this plane and left for an airport in medford. plane crashed on east lindenwold avenue. both men were conscious and breathing at the time they went to the hospital. the woman who lives in the home where the plane crashed says it's common for planes to fly through this area here in south jersey. >> sometimes planes fly a little low. but usually we don't have any issues.

morning. there are 14 pennsylvania state universities in all. west chester is among the five schools in our region. the others include east stroutd stroudsberg and cookstown. >> what is the feeling on campus there tonight. >> this is the scene we're seeing at college campuses across pennsylvania. professors on the picket line as you can see a big group of them joined by students. we can tell you that the campus is actually open for students to come and go instead of a geography test. their professors are on strike. >> i think a lot of students are supporting them because i feel like most of them like the picket signs. >> thousands of university professors upset about a

contract offer they say hurts teachers and weakens education. >> they to low ball them. when you low ball faculty at that level, the better ones find better jobs elsewhere. >> reporter: computer science professor dan spiegel says the new contract forces them to pay more for health care. >> it's an increase in co-pays,co-pays, an increase in deductible. >> reporter: to the costs are rising for everyone and they need to save money done are already paid well above the national average. we're also paying tuition. >> students fear a prolonged strike could affect grades and financial aid, even the semester. >> i think they can get rid of

air grades if it lasts too long. >> i hope they don't get rid of the grades because i've been getting as and bs so far. >> reporter: professors unclear how long this strike is going to last. in addition to that health care issue, faculty has concerns about the salary forred a underprofeunde a underprofessors. >> there are 14 state schools on strike, but penn state and temple university not among them and that's because they are not considered state owned schools even though they do get some money from the state. now to our weather, that is so warm today, it's breaking records, a live picture of the art museum, some people enjoying the run up the rocky steps on a beautiful, sunny day.

the past record was normal, 78 degrees. we showed you the video where we said it was in the mid 30s, not anywhere close to that, we're going drop down into the 60s for tonight and tomorrow morning. we'll talk about a big cooldown for the weekend coming up. philadelphia police say they know who they're looking for in connection with a robbery and shooting in rittenhouse square. they have a warrant for a 17-year-old who shot a good samaritan who was trying to prevent the robbery five times. the police tell nbc 10 the suspect's parents are cooperati cooperating. time now to decision 2016, one final face to face in the race for the white house, the scene in las vegas, the presidential canning dats will face-off one last time this evening. the countdown on.

that debates under way in just under three hours from now. nbc 10's lauren mayk has our coverage. >> she's going to be there for the finale tonight, she's going to be there for the showdown tonight. a lot at stake, right, lauren? >> reporter: that is right, jim and jacqueline. this is the last chance for these candidates to contrast themselves against the other candidate who's also standing right there. it's also the last chance to pressure their opponent to talk about things they might not want to. hours before the final debate, both sides are setting expectations i think you're going to see a culmination of the message that donald trump's been trying to deliver. there's a clear choice in this election, 30 years of failed policy, 30 years of no accomplishments and a lifetime of achievement in the private sector. >> he will try to litigate all kinds of false attacks from the 1990s, everything from benghazi to e-mails and other unfair

to talk to a couple of them and one man from par gay said it is surprising how difficult it is to talk about issues at these debates. >> all right, lauren, next 10 is your place to watch 2016 debate coverage. lauren mayk will join us live from vegas again from the spin room with reaction to the debate on nbc 10 news at 11:00. there's talk today that the trump taj mahal in atlantic city could open. you may remember the casino shut down last week, but we could learn more about the casino tomorrow because that's when new jerseywmakers talk about whether to allow it to reopen. some union say it's a ploy to reopen the casino as a nonunion facility.

good news for cycle lists in delaware. today officials cut the ribbon to open the first 1.1 miles of the georgetown bike trail in lewis. 17 additional miles are under construction. once the trail is completed, it will connect rehoboth beach as part of a larger network of state wide trails. the schuylkill ragatta is one week away. >> philadelphia mayor jim kenney announced today that a mayor's cup will be awarded to the first place winners in the men's and womens varsity 8s. also this year an award will also be dedicated to a commissioner that passed away in august. and why kenney says it's important to recognize the students that part pate these races. >> what could be more important teaching kids necessary the skills rowing promotes. >> the ragatta runs the weekend of october 29.

i've seen what can happen as the result of hate. my son matt was murdered in laramie, wyoming, in 1998. he was befriended by two men in a bar who pretended to be gay. they offered him a ride home, and when he was in their car, they robbed him and beat him. they drove matt out to the prairie and tied him to a split-rail fence, then beat him some more and left him for dead. in the aftermath of matt's death, my family saw the best of america in the love and support we were shown. so when i see the hate that donald trump has brought to his campaign for president,

>> reporter: this is constitution yard and it has been a huge success. but i don't think anybody here would tell you to expect weather this nice this long but i don't think anybody else is complaining. closing your eyes while playing golf isn't a good idea, but if you did close your eyes you wouldn't see all the trees with the orange leaves, the trees are the only reminder wie in summer. that lady's putter was hot today, everyone was hot. that meant the roving beer cart was busy. it's not usually this busy at this time of the year. >> the beginning of october is, i mean, we're kind of dead for the most part, but this 80-degree weather is great. >> this road worker is annoyed probably because he wasn't one of the lucky ones to stop and enjoy the lovely weather.

south jersey neighborhoods already in the upper 80s there. turnersville 82 degrees. mt. laurel coming in at 83 degrees. if you're in robbinsville, your temperatures are right around the low 80s. so today, we had more record highs, including the philadelphia area beating the past record of 80 degrees, so 86 there, atlantic city 85. trenton 85. wilmington got up to 87 degrees, we had a very warm day, unseasonably warm, tomorrow still warmer than normal, but we'll be back down into the 70s. we do have some showers early in tomorrow's forecast, some of those showers could linger into lunchtime. but we go into the weekend and things start to really cool down. the eagles sunday, cool and nice and dry. if you're tail gatzing, it's going to feel like football weather a little bit. 53 while you're tailgating, 58 at the start of the game and 60

at the end of the game. wire going to drop into the 70s to end the week, look at the weekend, 58 for the high saturday, 60 for the high sunday, normal high 66 degrees, today we were 20 degrees above normal. nice and dry right now. there's rain back off to our west, some of that will be moving in for the morning commute not for everyone, just for part of the area. here's future weather, more clouds early tomorrow, best chance north and west of philadelphia with some spotty showers, of those could linger around lunchtime, and by the evening, i think we'll be fairly dry. friday morning, rain just off to our west, starts to move in later in the evening friday, and then for saturday, it does look like some of this rain is actually going to linger to start off your saturday, maybe for the first half of saturday. so as we go through the end of the week, keep the umbrella handy, look at the temperature change as we go through saturday, from 70s now to 60s, rain chance saturday, 57, if you're lehigh valley, expect the

tonight on nbc 10 news at 11:00, voting irregularities in philadelphia. >> reporter george spencer spoke with a man who voted illegally in six elections, the nbc 10 investigators look into how big a problem that is and if it could impact election results. that's at 11:00. it's not uncommon for autistic kids to flap their hands. and so when i saw that, that was completely disqualifying. i'm a republican, but this election is so much bigger than party. my son max can't live in trump world. so i'm crossing party lines and voting for hillary. i don't always agree with her, but she's reasonable. and she's smart. she can work with people to solve problems. i want to be able to tell my kids that i did the right thing when it really mattered. i'm hillary clinton and i approve this message.
