tonight. hackers shut down twitter, pay-pal and several other internet sites all for a few hours today. no word on just who is responsible. a former aid to new jersey governor chris christie took a stand in the george washington bridgegate trial. kelly has said little in three years. she told government major chris christie about the lane close closures before they happened. christie has denied knowing about them. we are following developments and we will have new details coming up on nbc 10 news at 5:05:0 5:00. the hunt is on tonight for a pair of multistate toy thieves. they stole tens of thousands of items from toys r us stores.

organized team to target stores between new jersey and maryland. >> it's a large scale shoplifting incident, where they'll put items in a cart and push it out. >> in at least one case outside new jersey, investigators say the thieves were seen in this large, light colored cadillac, authorities hope someone recognizes the pair and calls police. >> we're trying to be part of the bigger picture, just in case they are in our area. >> reporter: toms river police tell us they have no reports that the pair hit the local toys r us, but they're going back through their records and the stores is checking their inventory just to be sure. police believe the couple is like lly returning the stolen items for cash in other states. the thieves taking toys and now an effort is in play to track them down. a new jersey couple is charged with child endangerment

after authorities say they were found with a number of drugs, some hidden in their son's diaper. police in tom's river say they found erika richter showing up in the partly cloudy on sunday with her 2-year-old son in the car. investigators say they later found a bag of marijuana in the boy's diaper. railroad executives stood up lawmakers instead of testifying about the railroad's safety status. a joint legislative committee was supposed to hear from new jersey transit's executive director following last month's zec accident in hoboken. they say to meet with federal railroad officials. while the race says the meeting happened, they also say they would have gradually rescheduled it. >> the fact that detector sanfor

saved the life of a 3-year-old boy and not only received an award, he also got a hug. 3-year-old brandon guise was visiting his mom when he had a seizure and stopped breathing. bruce miller heard the call so he rushes over and immediately started is cpr. >> i thought my life was over when it happened. i mean he is my life. >> officer miller was giving the city's life saving award and he was joined at the ceremony by the boy and his family for another hug. >> so glad he's okay. if you have ever gotten a speeding ticket, you probably weren't happy about it, of course you're not alone. that's why one new jersey trooper was so surprised when he received a banking note from a driver. the officer told the driver there will be a lot of accidents in the area due to speeding and

professors have been on the picket lines for the past three days. professors at all 14 pennsylvania state universities walked off the job on wednesday. five of those schools are in our region. millersville, west chester, cheyney, and cookstown. >> there will be a lot of relief there among those picket lines. >> reporter: you want to see all the excitement? that's behind us. there's no excitement here because it ended about 15 minutes ago. there were bands playing, it was quite a scene here, but those picketers, as they got notified on their phones and tablets, they are getting together to discuss the situation that came out today. the union did not release a lot of the details, but they say they conceded on salary and benefit demands to get the kids back in the classrooms and the teachers back in the classrooms, they did say 349 things that the
