pennsylvania's state run schools walked off the job on wednesday and they stayed on the picket lines until a ovlittle over an hour ago. >> reporter: it took by two years of fighting but it really came down to three days of striking, and of course this is for the faculty at all three of the pennsylvania state run universities. just a little while ago, the west chester university faculty had a celebration here. it sounds like the teachers are going to give a little bit on the salary and benefits in exchange for a couple hundred sticking points. i talked to an adjunct professor here and students and their professors are going to be together for this important homecoming weekend and they'll be back in class on monday morning. >> stay after school, stay after classes, why can't we stay out

for three days and support them for a good cause. >> reporter: is it going to be a happy come homing? >> it's a happy home coming and we're on. >> reporter: they had replacement athletic trainers and the marching band wasn't going to where able to play because their instructor was on strike. moms and dads who pay tuition to the university are pretty happy the professors are off strike. everybody just wanted to get the kids and the teachesers back in the classroom. and turning to our weather, we're tracking rain on our first alert forecast. this rain will arrive tonight and it will stick around for the start of your weekend. that rainy system is bringing some big temperature changes too. erika martin is tracking it all for us. >> we do have much cooler temperatures, jackie in the works. of course we're picking that up, a change in the forecast today into tomorrow.

this afternoon he finished his first rally in johnstown. hillary clinton is heading to our area tomorrow as both candidates fixate on this key battleground. they have just 18 days left to win over voters. andrea, donald trump has some ground to make up here in pennsylvania? >> reporter: that's right because all of the polls have him behind here in pennsylvania. so at this point, the voters he really needs to resonate with are women. >> look at all those women for trump signs, i love that. >> reporter: during a campaign stop earlier today in north carolina, donald trump signaled confidence in his support from women. but the polls show otherwise. >> he was close in pennsylvania and then is that state was released and he's having trouble with the woman vote. >> reporter: the comments about multiple allegations of

however she denies anything about the plan to the lanes in retaliation against the port city mayor. just weeks after a deadly new jersey transit train crashed, railroad executives did not show up for a meeting with lawmakers. they were supposed to testify about the railroad's safety status. the nbc 10 investigators found out that a joint legislative committee was supposed to hear from new jersey transit. executive director following last month's accident in hoboken. instead the railroad cancelled late last night they said that meet with federal railroad commissioners. they said they would have gladly rescheduled it. >> the fact that director santor or those who would be in a position to answer questions is disrespect to this committee and it will not be trifled with w.

a former penn state football coach threw him under the bus. mike mccreary is seeking $4

million in a lawsuit. his testimony eventually helped convict sandusky of child sex abuse. penn state put mccreary on leave the week sandusky was charged. an allentown police officer breaks a suspect's jaw by kicking him in the face and the incident is caught in this video. now the suspect is suing for excessive force. allentown police have defended the officer saying he was well trained. but our security expert says kicking in that situation is not typical in police training. nbc 10's randy gyllenhaal joins us to break it down. >> reporter: that officer, a 14-year veteran of the allentown force, the force says he's well trained and he's even received wards for saving lives, but he's also been accused of excessive force in the past.

the arrest of this armed suspect, the video you're about to see has sparked accusations of misconduct. allentown police pull over a man who just robbed a strip club at gunpoint. you see hector medina pena get out of his suv. he briefly reached for his. the police officers gleebed he had a weapon. >> he has his hands up, gets down on all fours in a prone defenseless position. >> seconds later, officer joseph rya ryanetta runs over. >> pena's attorney says that kick was excessive and his jaw was broken. the same officer appears to put his knee in pena's head.

>> you don't need to incapacitate a person who's being compliant and break his jaw because you may have some other of other fears. >> pena remains in prison but filed a federal civil rights lawsuit. allentown says the force was appropriate, saying the officer was well trained and the suspect repeatedly reached toward his waistband and didn't follow orders. nbc 10 showed this video to our security expert, a former cop who says it's clear the overs had concerns about a gun, but he questions that kick. >> whoever taught that tactic, you want to control the suspect, you want to make sure you have officer safety, but that is definitely beyond the scope of the threat-force continuum. >> the investigators cleared that officer of any wrong doing, they say evidence will show he act properly, but that lawsuit claims the suspect's constitutional rights were violated.
