are on the attack. busy friday night. >> the e-mail investigation comes just a week and a half before the election. >> eric coleman is following the late breaking developments for us here in our studio. >> reporter: the fbi dropped the big news this afternoon, the fbi says it will investigate whether there's classified information in newly discovered e-mails connected to hillary clinton. we learned the fbi found the documents after seizing devices from clinton's top aid huma abedin. fbi director james comey sent a letter today saying his agency will take appropriate investigative steps to review information that passed through clinton's private e-mail server when she served as secretary of state. clinton's e-mail has been a hot button issue during this

election year. the fbi released results of its investigation and said no criminal charges will be filed. hillary clinton had a rally about an hour after the news broke, she did not mention the investigation during her speech. the clinton campaign released a statement saying the fbi director should immediately provide the american public more information than in the letter he to eight republican chairman. donald trump started his speech with the fbi announcement said the political system may not be as rigged as he thought. >> hillary clinton's corruption is on a scale we have never seen before. we must not let her take her criminal scheme into the oval office. >> perhaps finally justice will

be done. >> the white house said it had no advanced warning of the fbi's decision. and the news of the clinton investigation quickly spread to bucks county, where republicans turned out hear from vice presidential nominee mike pence. deanna durante joins us live from bensalem. >> what did pence have to say? >> reporter: pence was supposed to take the stage here about 2:00 this afternoon, he got on stage a little late, but did not manage to shy away from hillary clinton, the fbi and the business of her e-mails. >> i hope they get it right this time. >> reporter: supporters say they don't an fbi investigation to tell them anymore about the democratic nominee. >> for whatever reason they chose not to pursue it. >> reporter: many say until now they thought it had been a closed case. >> i hope it reassured people why they want to vote for donald

trump and mike pence. the integrity that they have versus the lack of integrity that we have seen with hillary clinton and her campaign. >> in his 30-minute plus speech s pence says trump will repeal obama care, create more jobs and quote, restore law and order in the cities. >> when donald trump becomes president of the united states we won't be paying ransom to terrorist sponsoring states. >> reporter: hitting the topics of national security, pence enforced the need for all to show up at the polls. >> we call on the fbi to immediately release all the e-mails pertinent to their reopened investigation, the american people have a right to know, and they have a right to know before election day. >> i think it's about time. ive she decides to step down, i don't want trump to win by default.

i want to go to the election, so that she knows the people are done, with people like her in office. >> reporter: now mike pence told his supporters multiple times that pennsylvania is a very important state for his campaign to win. here in bucks county, registered democrats do outnumber registered republicans which is why political insiders say it's the independents and those undecideds that they are going after at this point. and we spoke to voters in a part of heavily democratic leaning philadelphia. ca many called the news a surprise and said that more digging into clinton's e-mails is needed. many say they have already made up their minds. >> they keep doing the same thing over and over again, with the hopes of catching somebody doing something wrong. >> i think they're just going their duty. it's even worse if she's elected and then she's found to have

done something wrong. it should be brought to light. >> hillary clinton is at her second event of the day. clinton is holding a rally right now in des moines, iowa. clinton is also getting support today from president obama. the commander in chief hit the road and is campaigning in orlando, florida. you can expect both parties to go nonstop until election day, and that's because candidates are running out of time to get your vote. first alert traffic nightmare for drivers, you're looking at the reason why right there, the pennsylvania turnpike closed right in the middle of the evening rush. mitch, we can only imagine what the backups look like right now, and they're still working on this. >> this has been all day on the turnpike, you're looking at a pico crew fixing what man a major problem, power lines that were down on the road as early

as 9:00 this morning, the turnpike, at least a section of the turnpike between exits 358 and 351 has been closed in both directions, that's between the delaware river bridge and the bensalem interchange, closed for the entire morning commute. they expected it to be open by now, the original estimates from the turnpike commission were that they would be open by 6:00. they're now saying it's going to be a little while longer. we'll stay on top of it and keep you apprised as to when this is going to open. for now we're live in sky force 10. now to the septa strike threats, strike signs will start being made in less than an hour as septa workers could walk off the job next week. more than 800,000 transit riders will be out of luck with subways, busses and trollies. it's not just people trying to get to work who would be impacted 55,000 to 60,000 children will be impacted.

in delaware county. tonight questions about why both freight trains were on the same track at the same time. this happened in chester township about 8:30 this morning. tim furlong is monitoring the investigation for us. how is work going to get those damaged trains off the tracks? >> reporter: we have had a lot of progress since we joined you at 4:00. see that train that's passing now? that's the train that had the bruised nose, obviously the track has been cleared and everything is moving along a little bit. it took some heavy lifting with some delicate equipment. now cleanup is under way so csx can get those backed up freight trains rolling again. some people could see the crash. >> i could see it from my bathroom window. >> it was a long, loud met central crash. it sounded like a bomb. >> reporter: this morning about

8:30 on the csx track near concord road, a train carrying grain collided with another csx train. >> it was like a big, loud boom. yeah, it was like a long, loud sound. >> reporter: csx says a total of four crewmembers were on the train, taken to the hospital and later released. a source tells us just east of this spot, there's a piece of track that breaks off where one train is usually supposed to wait at a red light until the other one passes. >> when i had that clear back there. >> you could hear some of that confusion on the radio chatter, but csx won't say whether the inbound train improperly blew through the signal. csx owns the trains and the tracks and the crash didn't cause any problem for passenger trains, but trains should be moving through here again soon.

certainly no tropical systems to be concerned about at this time of the year. we have temperatures dropping into the upper 40s already in lehigh valley, other parts of the area are in the 50s, but it's 49d in merkstown, easton 46, bethlehem 48 degrees, those places are going way down to the 30s tonight. you can see the skies are pretty much clear, just some high thin clouds coming in from the northwest without any kind of rain at the moment. as we go hour by hour through the weekend, we start off the day tomorrow, lots of sunshine, a few high clouds during the day, but just a beautiful day, les wind than today as well. by sunday morning, we're still getting a decent amount of sunshine, sunday's going to be really warm if we get enough sunshine well into the 70s. then we could get some showers

coming in later in the day and into the evening, not all the computer models are showing rain into our area on sunday, so it's just in the chance category now, and it would be moving out pretty quickly during sunday evening, setting us up for a nice, dry halloween day, but a cooler day as you'll see here. the weekend forecast into the 70s, philadelphia saturday and even warmer on sunday, lehigh valley may stay in the 60s sunday, and we have that chance of some late-day showers, most places except for the jersey shore and in delaware. and for the trick or treat forecast, it's going to be cooler than saturday or sunday. the sun sets at 6:00 that means it gets totally dark by 6:30, so the temperatures will be dropping into the 50s, so death need to have the kids covered up because of that cooler weather coming in. here we are on sunday, 76 with a chance of some showers, cooler

on monday, and then we start warming up again by wednesday and thursday, into the mid 70s, but by the following weekend, it's getting pretty chilly again. we have some breaki ing new bright now, sky force 10 over hunting park. >> reporter: a really disturbing story out of hunting park a 9-year-old assaulted around 4:30 this afternoon, dragged into an alley by his book bag and chained to a fence where neighbors heard the boy screaming and jumped in to rescue him. police are now looking for a 30-year-old black male wearing a white shirt, that is the description we have gotten from investigators working the scene. more news after this break.
