catch the sub, so this is kind of out of the way. >> reporter: it was standing room only from the fern rock transportation area. >> we know the bus is causing more traffic. >> they say the strike now has their family of seven relying on just one car. >> we got this with my mom's car. we had to wait for her to finish up and my brothers and sisters would have to walk home. >> philadelphia schools were open. students who rely on septa were allowed an excused absence. >> too far to walk for you? >> yes. that's a lot. >> reporter: she was determined to show up. >> i had to wait for my mom to wake up to drive me to school.

i'm like an hour late. >> reporter: and they say the most difficult part of all of this is not knowing when the strike itself is going to come to an end, when they can stop making the alternative arrangements. they are hoping this getting resolved very soon. i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. pennsylvania governor released this statement on the septa strike. it reads in part the inability to reach an agreement will create extreme hardships. i continue to urge them to continue talking until a compromise is reached. traffic has been heavy all morning long as you might expect because of the septa strike. let's get to jessica boyington. what are you seeing? >> we'll tell you what is

expected with this septa strike. the broad street subway system, trolleys 10, 11, 13, 15, 34 and 36 are not running. what is running are the regional rails on the northbound high speed line and all suburban buses. alternatives are strongly enkourjd because you don't really have an option. seeing major delays on the rest of mass transit. earlier we were dealing with 60 minute delays. we are dealing with at least 30 minute delays. we'll see a little bit of a lull in the afternoon. towards the evening commute we'll start to see significant delays there. uber, lyft, others might be good ways to avoid some of the traffic. let's get more around the area. this is on route 30 eastbound right around federal street. we also have an accident on

entered the courthouse. cosby's lawyers have filed a motion opposing what they call evidence of prior bad acts. the defense are calling the 13 past accusers unreliable saying there has never been a shred of physical evidence to support their claims and those allegations were never reported to any authority. an attorney calls their testimony relevant. >> i hope that the court will allow some or all of those witnesses to testify because i do think that the prosecution is correct when it states that their testimony would tend to show a common scheme or plan by mr. cosby. >> reporter: cosby's lawyers say some of the women do claim they

voluntarily took quaaludes and cocaine. seniors are recalling allegations some 40 to 50 years old. so we asked the attorney about the allegations and the fact that most of the women may be seniors. she'll have that response for us at 11:30. monique braxton, nbc 10 news. now to the push for pennsylvania. a private event. national polls show a tightening presidential race. lauren is live with a big push for pennsylvania, lauren. >> reporter: this is one week before election day. it has stated donald trump has been making a strong play for and the philadelphia suburbs are key to that. let me show you what's happening right now.

donald trump and mike pence have not taken the stage yet. there are members of congress who are here for this event today. the topic is obamacare. this is a speech. it's not a rally. there are teleprompters set up. this comes at a time when we are learning about double digit increases. this is for people who buy their health insurance on the marketplace. they are certainly taking advantage of that timing. donald trump said on his first day in office he would ask congress to repeal obamacare. as you take a look at the crowd here this is a speech, not a l rally. all of these seeds look to be fill and there are people standing around the edges. some have done work for the campaign and some may be connected to the local party and some had a friend helped to get them in. this also comes as a new poll shows donald trump down 11

traffic completely dead stopped. we are seeing a slow down on the eastbound side. the eastbound traffic is pretty typical for right now. i'll show you where exactly it is. we are starting to see delays around belmont avenue. it really starts to get jammed up as you move towards the blue route. it's not an accident in the area. a motorcade is moving through. once the motorcade moves through they will reopen the road again. right now it's a good idea but it should only be there for about the next half an hour or so. i'll be back with another one of those updates. >> all right. thank you. in baltimore six people are dead involving a school bus and commuter bus. the school bus driver died, so did five on the city bus.

ten others went to the hospital. police say the school bus hit another car and then a pillar before continuing into oncoming traffic hitting the commuter bus. they had a medical emergency possibly before losing control. now to decision 2016 donald trump and mike pence are focusing on obamacare which may have been the reason for the traffic problem. the fbi is focusing on clinton campaign e-mails and now ties between russia and former campaign manager. tracie potts has the latest from washington. hillary clinton is urging voters not to be distracted by the latest fbi investigation into her e-mails. >> why in the world is the fbi would decide to jump into an election without evidence of any wrong doing with just days to

it is 44 in redding, 42 here. still in the 40s across much of the area. 46 from white hall. it is 50 degrees in easton. look out to the west. these are in central time. this is 10:00 a.m. it is already close to 80 degrees in gnashvillnashville. we are talking about near record warmth as we go into thursday. radar and satellite showing the high thin clouds. the rain doesn't really exist. there is no rain of any significance for a couple of thousands of miles. hour by hour we are watching temperatures as we go through the night tonight. it won't be nearly as cool as it was this morning. in the afternoon it will allow us to warm up into the 70s by

5:00 and even allentown could get up to 70 or a little bit above. same thing with redding and trenton. a cold front will be approaching. we have the winds coming in out of the west, ahead of it. we'll warm up on wednesday. we'll stay dry like the sunshine wednesday and then thursday that front approaches. as it does we are going to be seeing near record warmth followed by some showers, maybe some thunderstorms. this is 2:30 in the afternoon and it's still dry in most of our area. by 8:00 it is all moved through. there is a chance of thunderstorms along with the rain and cooler air comes in behind that. as we look through the area tomorrow a lot of people will enjoy this. it will be in the 70s.

some people will prefer winter-type weather and it's not coming any time soon. redding up to 72. so just about everybody getting to 70 tomorrow. it is 66 in new heart delaware. over the next three days you can see the temperature increase. thursday the showers come in generally in the afternoon and including the lehigh valley. i won't be quite as warm. we'll take a look at the ten day and election day a little bit later. >> all right. thank you. the number one killer of babies in the united states is on the rise, what a newly released report says about babies born in our area and what doctors say needs to change.

premiums, they expected to rise by double digits this year. you'll find more than a million enrollees will foond their current plans have vanished. and the march of dimes released its report card on premature births overnight. for the first time in eight years there was an increase in the number of babies born preterm. >> a couple of things we need focus on. one of the issue is really getting the word out and having people take better care of themselves while they are pregnant. so seeing your doctor and preparing for pregnancy. >> the cost associated with premature birth is upwards of $26 million. they say reducing stress and anxiety is very important to a healthy pregnancy.

it showed premature birthrates were higher among black women and 50% higher among american indian women when compa compared to white women. they say the new ratings are a call to arms. this thursday, november 17th -- thursday, november 17th rather is prematurity day. march of dimes will be holding their charity from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. that night. this year pancreatic cancer surpassed breast cancer in the number of deaths each year. it is the third leading cancer killer in this country. pancreatic cancer is the only cancer with a five-year survival rate. now more than ever it is

avalon. the ocean city at 59 degrees which continues to be above normal for this time of the year. high pressure over new england. this is reaching down and keeping us dry. the real warm air comes in when the wind ships infts into the southwest and comes into the middle of the country where it is just exceptionally warm. the temperature trend has been pretty wild. we saw how warm it got over the weekend. yesterday was only 57. today about normal and then tomorrow it really starts warming up into the 70s. thursday should be the warmest of all. high thin clouds. there's no rain. a few drops in michigan. that's about it until you get to south dakota. here is the future cast hour by

hour as we go through the night tonight and into the day tomorrow and even into thursday we are dry at least into thursday morning's rush. thursday into the afternoon the rain is starting to show up on the radar. pretty far away it will allow us to warm up into the 70s, near 80 degrees. we'll update those forecasts later on this afternoon. by late in the day and at night there's that line of showers, maybe thunderstorms coming with the cold front. so the temperature will drop a lot behind the front just like it did on sunday. at the moment we are not anticipating the kind of storminess we had on sunday. it is at least a possibility of some showers and storms. then the drier air comes in for thursday night and sets us up for a keerl dcooler day on frid. we have a 45 degree low.

nowhere near as cool as it was this morning. up to 72 in redding. that's one of the cool spots. so just about every part of the area will be getting into the 70s tomorrow afternoon. nobody will be as cool tomorrow morning as they were this morning. there is the 73 for wednesday. it is 76 possibly close to 80 in some spots on thursday. the showers come late in the day and into the evening hours. we see the significant drop for friday. temperatures fairly close to average. the heart walk saturday morning. we turn our clocks back saturday night and right now election day is looking pretty nice. a fair amount of sunshine. we'll be right back.
