right now on nbc 10 at 11:00, a deadly crash. a live report from the scene is next. a line in the sand. officials in one town want the state to put an end to a controversial project. today they are going to court. >> sunny skies over the region. more showers could be on the way this afternoon. we have you covered in the first alert neighborhood forecast. right now at 11:00 this wreckage is all that remains following a deadly crash this morning. it happened along main street good morning. i'm rosemary connors.

it remains closed about four hours after the crash. randy is live at the scene to tell us about the investigation, randy. >> reporter: as police are still on scene rain vest gaiting this deadly crash, in just the past ten minutes or so we have seen tow troucks. let's zoom out here to the right. this is the front lawn of a real estate business. this is the top entirely ripped off. we know at least one person is dead and witnesses report seeing a police chase in the seconds before this accident. it happened around 5:30 this morning. witnesses are telling nbc 10 that they saw this crash and saw people running out of that white car pursued by police.

yesterday was the first full day of the tax in cook county illinois. consumers paying an extra penny per ounce. the tax is expected to raise more than $67 million in new revenue by the end of november. shoppers reactions in the windy city are mixed. >> not too happy but at the same time. >> no. it's not fair. you know, now people go across to indiana for cigarettes, pretty soon we are just going to move out of the city or out of the county. >> money will be used to fund community services. they are facing a budget deficit. there were similar concerns.

right now crews are in the process of clearing out the smashed cars. it happened here on main street. one person was killed in the accident. nbc 10 is live from the scene to give us an update. >> reporter: norristown police are here investigating this deadly crash. tow trucks have been on scene for the past 30 minutes or so. you see that white sedan with the top entirely ripped off, behind it a black suburban. the cars were actually thrown into a near by real estate front yard. we know at least one person is dead. it happened around 5:30 this morning. right now police are declining comments. one once we spoke with say they
