school buses rolled, parents dropped off children at the many campuses in the nation's second largest school district. the decision to close schools on tuesday came after a school board member received an email threat. 640,000 students stayed home. school leaders say they made the decision out of an abundance of caution. >> hoverboards are certainly the hot holiday gift this year but there are safety concerns and they continue to grow. take a look at this. this is what's left of a san francisco's family's hoverboard. the teen was riding it in the house when it started sparking, popping, and caught fire. the teen managed to get it out of the house but not before it scorched part of the rug and the wall. >> i'm glad that my sister was able to drag it from the carpet all the way towards the front door on the hard tile where nothing would really get on fire really quickly. basically she saved our lives. if it wasn't for her quick actions our whole house probably swroo burned down.

i want you to notice the wind direction from the east-southeast. that's off the water. that's eventually going to mean moisture coming in, in the form of low clouds and maybe a bit of mist by morning. now, the temperatures are in the 30's to around 40 degrees across the region but there is room for the temperatures to drop some tonight before we get the thick clouds and eventually the drizzle. especially in north-central mass and southern new hampshire where the winds are very light. could freezing mark. if there is any mist early tomorrow there could be a couple of pockets running around the freezing mark. something to keep in mind if you're around orange, massachusetts, concord, new hampshire, or that region. otherwise, the rest of the area is above freezing if any mist starts to fall. there is the temperature now compared to 24 hours ago. chillier. we have some clear skies and patchy clouds around. look at the clouds to the south and east. that's where the wind is coming from so those clouds will invade the region. as for the rain that's really

it will start to expand and move northeastward boston close to 4 degrees. late tomorrow night and tomorrow evening south of boston it may move into the 50s. north of boston it will stay in 40's. as for the rainfall that i'm talking about, here's what i mean. notice it's not widespread around the time of the morning commute but any green blocks, which could be in almost any spot that could be a touch of drizzle line and borderline freezing drizzle. otherwise, steady rains are in before or by the evening commute which looks to be a wet one as some heavier bands of rain move threw the first half of tomorrow night. on friday, most of the moisture is offshore but there will be an additional wave of low pressure pretty far off. might be enough to brush the coastline or cape with a little additional rain on friday. after that, chillier. in terms of powerful, anywhere
