turn over a number of documents into a criminal investigation in a nora virus investigation in california. emily: saugus firefighters were forced to save their own. erika: we have the scary moments for those firefighters for us. doug: only seven hours since this fire first broke out and it continues to smolder. earlier this morning, it was a very close call for three local firefighters. the early morning call came in around 5:00 a.m.. when firefighters arrived, the home was fully engulfed and they quickly went to three alarms. it also quickly turned to a few stressful moments for the men who entered the building. >> a call for may day came in. doug: upon entry, two teams split up.

firefighters were overwhelmed by smoke and heat. >> the fire captain was able to pull the firefighter in front of him out, which was a fire lieutenant from saugus. the firefighter and the fire lieutenant were able to pull one of our firefighters out the window. doug: one of the firefighters was spotted only moments after being rescued. >> are you ok? >> i' m good. thank you. >> i would say the firefighters on scene saved the lives of my men. doug: by daybreak come the fight not over. temperatures. living at the home were all able to escape without injury. nearby ambulance. >> the family was in bed and they heard a noise downstairs house after. the fire crew showed up at that point. doug: the firefighters'

were minor in nature. on a side note, the on and off ramps to essex street to route 1 north should be reopened by this evening' s commute. >> new at noon, a second fire just a short time later in essex. firefight orders -- firefighters battling the fire on main street and pickering. >> the mother of bella bond, the little girl found dead on deer island, is being held on $1 million bail. todd' legal move. todd: good afternoon. morning at suffolk superior after the fact. her attorney acknowledges that in the months that people all over the country were trying to identify baby doe, that bond knew exactly who the girl was and what happened, but said she could not forward -- come

the control of her boyfriend, the alleged killer. rachelle bond makes her first court appearance since the suffolk county grand jury indicted her for being an accessory after the fact to the murder of her own daughter. >> she knew immediately that her daughter was dead and went to hold her, but mr. mccarthy prevented her from seeing her daughter. todd: throughout the arraignment, she was trembling and being comforted by her attorney. her boyfriend is charged with killing bella after she refused to go to sleep in the spring of 2014. the body was initially put in a trash back and stuffed in this refrigerator and then eventually tossed into the harbor. >> mr. mccarthy took the duffel bag and threw it over a sea wall into the water. todd: months after the body washed up, the child' s biological father asked repeatedly to meet his daughter.

one of mccarthy' friends. >> she broke down crying and daughter again. of course. had murdered bella. her attorney insisted that in the months after the murder, she had been under the control of her boyfriend, michael mccarthy. >> there are issues of emotional control, psychological control. she was very heavily using drugs at that time, unfortunately, that mr. mccarthy was providing. todd: bond is also charged with larceny for allegedly accepting and spending $1400 of bella' s public assistance money after the two-year-old was dead. high bail. >> our blast of winter appears to be taking an early break.

>> we now know the name of the man whose body was found on the side of a highway in auburn. he has been identified as 48-year-old david laroche. his body was found yesterday by relatives near interstate 290 and the auburn park offices. the case is being investigated as a suspicious death. a federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit against the government from the family of a victim of james whitey bulger. the family was seeking nine point $9 million for negligence and emotional distress. they claim bulger' s corrupt fbi handler knew where the body was and never told. >> the episcopal bishop of rhode island is calling for appropriate disciplinary proceedings after claims that more than two dozen students were sexually abused at a prestigious newport boarding school decades ago.

and west and that could begin to trigger a little bit of drizzle and that could be problematic. early on saturday morning, the temperatures are going to be especially along and north and west of 95. with any light, patchy drizzle that falls, it could freeze on contact in this area. i don' t think it is a concern for the immediate coastline and the south shore, but it could be slick on saturday morning. but there is not going to be much moisture around on saturday. sunday is shaping up to be the much wetter day of the weekend. the winds are really going to pick up out of the south and that is going to flood our area with warm temperatures. the high temperature on sunday may even surpass 50 degrees with heavy rain coming through in the afternoon hours. the winds may pick up, as well. we have warm, windy weather to end the week on sunday. we do try out for the beginning of next week. we turn a little colder and
