>> heather with breaking news. new information in? >> we've learned that secretary of state john kerry has been talking with iran's foreign minister to get those sailors and boats released. one of the vessels had mechanical problems in the persian gulf and apparently drifted into iranian waters. right now forces are holding those two boats and the 10 americans who were aboard. iran claims the sailors are being treated properly. >> breaking news. sky five over beacon street in boston. two pedestrians have been hit by a car. on scene there are ambulances, police and firefighters and the driver did stay at the scene. no word on the condition of the victims but we'll continue to follow this. >> 38 degrees in need ham. a different story in worcester

way. >> we haven't really gotten started yet in boston but it's obviously started in worcester, you can see that. snowing pretty hard right now and the higher elevations is where it's the coldest and having the greatest road impact. when you get intensity of snow like, that it can at adhere to surfaces very quickly. looks like the rain-mix is going to set up somewhere along i-95 and 12 initially. it could always slim to snow. the air above us is plenty cold to support snow but the low level wind is coming in from the ocean, which is very warm. east coastline of massachusetts is where the temperatures are a little mild. either wet snow or rain but not as much overall impact. notice southern worcester county, northwest rhode island,

been snowing at a pretty good clip for the last hour or two the deeper blues and purples are the heaviest snow. providence up to government, i-95 points south and east are above freezing. we have that mix around boston and providence. may flip to all snow even near the coast later on but i don't think the temperatures will be that cold. this is all done way before tomorrow morning. anywhere from nothing to maybe up to an inch along the coast, boston to points south and east. when you get beyond 495 and the hillier terrain of worcester county that's where you get a heavy coating, perhaps as much as two inches in spots.

the thunderstorm is well south and east of nantucket. however, we also see the rain area around providence be you snow farther to the north. temperatures mild around the coastline but it's warm above us. you can still get snow and snow and rain mix but once you get away from the ell -- coastline is where you have the biggest impact of the snow. time for the evening commute. however, back in here, that is basically the arctic front and that's snow squalls that are falling across bing hamton, new york, right now. there is that front and behind that front is air is very cold and windy and that's what we're going to have tomorrow. see how the temperatures drop off. nine in chicago and two in minneapolis. once we get our period of snow and rain this evening. maybe some of us get a snow squall tonight.

tomorrow. temperatures knocked down a little bit along the coast when the snow and rain hit. west and above freezing across strong southerly wind gusts. bridgeport, new york and island as well. around our area the winds are much light. here's a close look at our doppler radar live. notice the rain in providence. that rain is still around i-95 roughly at this time. south and east rain could be mixed with or flip to snow. southeastern massachusetts and then we do have some snow but not as heavy and then it's going to be ending. the question is will we get one of those squalls that make it all the way to the berkshires. that would be early in the

north and east anywhere from a good coating up to two inches in spots. could be nothing because of borderline. up to an inch in pockets along the borderline. north to maine, the storm will definitely intensity. take you to the temperatures. i-95 south and east stays above freezing but freezing and below farther to the north and west. all of us below freezing in the morning and it's windy. it will be breezy and quite cold on thursday. a couple of very cold days coming up. basically, one storm in the secondary that's forming. all that goals away and allows the wind and cold to replace it those couple of days. notice on friday the temperature starts to moderate a little bit and that's important because that's going to make it very borderline on saturday, saturday morning and mid day when we have

us with strong northeast winds on the coast, a heavy mix. rain or snow or a mix. well south and east the best chance of getting that in a liquid form. what does that mean for the patriot game? right now that storm should be winding down around that time. i'm not sure what will have fallen at this time but there's a chance it will have ended snow where cold air working in a strong norly wind. early next -- northerly wind. early next week, the coldest weather of the winter so far, it looks like. >> the air force is proving what it -- previewing a what it expects to be a busy year. space x has planned 20 unmanned rocket launches. including one that will take supplies to the international

is cold. it may be snow along the i've 95 corridor at first. around the water's edge it's going to be harder for it to accumulate. there are going to be bursts. you see them here in eastern connecticut. some started out as rain. it got heavier and flipped over to snow. where do we go from here? this is basically -- i mean, this area here is the core of it. that's all in the next couple of hours for us. some of us get rain. southeastern mass and the came. some of us get rain and then to the north and west, especially 495 and beyond and the higher elevations is where the hilly terrain and the snow is sticking to more roadways. around 8:00 tonight, close to i've 95 or southeastern mass where the mix is but everything is going to be winding down quickly.
