11:17 pm
now in the town, experts sy a drug treatment for als is within the four-year reach. heather shall ed? >> it is within the four-year reach. >> we hope so. looking live at the city of boston now. within the four-day reach. we have a snowstorm that is approaching. >> harry, a tough one to nail down, isn't it? >> meteorologist: is tough for awhile for us. it it is interest. the first of the big four storms last winter which occurred. we were well to the heavy snow area and new york city was on the edge and they were the difficult forecast and we are the most difficult forecast now pause he are near the northern edge of the meaningful snow. lets a thank you about the nation's capital. blizzard watch will be going into effect. that is going to happen before friday is over and go right on into early sunday morning. they got a shot at one or two feet of snow. the only way it may be less isolator freezing rain. but still a nasty storm. it comes out redevelop in the gulf and picks up moisture. pumps in the cold air.
11:18 pm
starts moving northeast. there it is into washington. before friday evening, into later. then new york city right on the edge of the heavy know to start out saturday. now, as we go deep near the period of time. notice we hit right nar the northern edge of the snow and saturday might. it takes all day lit lir to get from new york city up to about boston by saturday night. there is still room for it to inch maybe a little bit further north and during saturday night before it then retreats out to sea. here is another one of the am copewter molds showing a burst of snow does dom the boston area overnight and late on saturday night, first thing sunday, then starts exiting to the east. then there is aloft ren ways where it can go pane! meaning we're on the edge of just getting a little bit of snow or maybe getting some moderate amounts of snow around boston. so for washington, d.c., everything is very high in terms of the chances of heavy snow and vong winds and road impact and air impact. philadelphia almost as high.
11:19 pm
in terms of having a big snow impact. the winds high. roads very high. also, impacted. new york city, not quite the slam-dunk. a little bit closer to edge of the heavier know. a medium chance. but still high chance of getting strong winds and flights will be impacted there. they when you get up to boston. that is a where it gets tricky. the snow is more on the low to medium range in terms of having a significant impact. well, we still have decent winds so roads genes on how much snow we get. air travel could be a bit of a problem especially if planes are coming from places like washington battle mer and physically and new york. this is one computer model snowing the heaviest amounts do in the mid-atlantic but very significant amounts up to the new england south coast and letters amounts to boston and barely getting above the border. so my best estimate i think it is too early to putnam bers on. you can try but when you are dealing with sharp difference in a small amount of miles we are still 72 hours away from the chance of getting meaningful
11:20 pm
north of boston would have the least. i would say south would have the most and line from prf dense points south and as long as no rain mix in which could happen. boston on the fence and could be light to moderate. all right. wind gusts going to be considered here as well. notice this saturday evening. lack at these gusts that are possible. nantucket closest to the storm center. the high tide where we going to have to watch is the one on sunday morning. 11:00 a.m. to noon. we have to watch it for the entire shoreline because we will probably have a couple of foot storm surge and tides are high. there could be beach erosion and coastal flooding. all right. wrap it up with the 7 day for you. you get the overall picture. there you can see tomorrow's breezy cold and dry. starts out to around 20 tops out to 30. inis late saturday and saturday night and early sunday. that is the time period to get that jr. we are fog get the strongest winds as well. the sun may come out.
