morning learning more about the overnight confrontation. sera is there. we'll have an update. randy: we can see behind the police cruisers there, the snow is melting down. cindy: it is. it is itself has been melting because the temperatures haven't dipped below the freezing mark. you can see a couple of rain showers showing up on the radar. coastal parts of connecticut, rhode island and the cape as well. this threat is going to be with us for the next few hours. the temperatures, though, are in the lower 40's. no concern with icing out there this morning. 30's in worcester county. but we are above the freezing mark. showers associated with frontal boundary. it is slowly shifting offshore. through about 8:00 this morning, we'll keep the risk of

a pretty decent ride here. nashua to burlington about 19 minutes. 93 south down to boston, that is a good ride. wide open for you. south of town still in good shape on the expressway. if you're taking the trains this morning, the e branch and the green line sst suspended between heath street and brigham circle. erika: breaking news right now. an officer struck by a car. randy: this all started in norwood. that's where the eyeopener's sera congi is live with what we know at this hour. reporter: this all happened around 2:00 h this morning. police stopped a suspect who had several arrest warrants. they were looking for him overnight. while the suspect wouldn't get out of his pickup truck, according to police, he took off. the door of the truck hit one of the police officers on the

surrounding communities as well as foxborough. the chase wound back where stitt police used stop sticks to puncture the truck's tires. eventually it crashed into a pole in norwood. the suspect and the passenger in the pickup truck are in the hospital. charges are expected but at this point it is unknown be. fortunately the police officers , -- police officer only suffered minor injuries. erika: thank youbreaking overnight, one person is in the hospital after a chase ends in a crash in mansfield. the sun chronicle reports an suv was going about 100-miles an hour when it crashed into a bridge on route 106. it happened just after 1:00 a.m, we're told the driver was . airlifted to the hospital. it's not clear how the chase started. breaking overnight, two people are dead, three others hurt after a shooting at a homeless encampment in seattle.

have died, after the group was targeted. two other women were rushed into surgery. nobody has been arrested, but police say they have persons of interest. right now police investigating a gruesome discovery turning a neighborhood into a crime scene. randy: this morning two people are dead leaving a lot of questions behind. the eyeopener's antoinette antonio is in peabody with what we know at this hour. reporter: a lot of questions this morning about what happened here outside of this home in peabody. police are investigating it as a murder-suicide. we know it was a grizzly scene. a man and woman found with knife wounds on the steps of this home. man. for some reason the man came to the home, attacked the woman and then killed himself. was a chilly long distance woman talking to the victim at the

>> she was on the phone with a relative in brazil. that relative heard a commotion and an altercation and the line went dead. >> that is when that relative called a local relative who then called police. this is winter street. police were looking for clues. they also towed the man's car. police are trying to determine the exact relationship between the 51-year-old victim who lived inside this home and the man accused of killing her and himself. we'll keep you posted. randy: right now a wisconsin man is under arrest, accused of plotting a terror attack at a masonic temple in milkwaukee. the f.b.i. says samy mohammed hamzeh planned to kill at least 30 people with a machine gun. two f.b.i. informants say he also had plans to travel to the

israeli soldiers. hamzeh is charged with firearm not registered to him. right now one person is dead and eight others are under remote oregon wildlife refuge comes to a violent end. protest leader ammon bundy is one of the people in custody this morning. he led an armed group that has taken over buildings at the refuge three weeks ago angry that two local ranchers were sent to prison for setting fires on local lands. the f.b.i. says one person was killed last night after shots were fired during a traffic stop. >> we're here for his family. we're here for him. we're here for the honor he brought the nation.

as his family makes a heart-breaking trip home without him. christopher orlando was one of 12 marines killed when two military helicopters collided in hawaii. their bodies haven't been found. but his community wanted to make sure his family knew they are not alone. they stood three deep lining main street with american flags last night for a hero's salute. >> he will always be part of the sea. he will always be part of the sky and whenever we look to the sea or the sky here we will remember him there too. erika: friends helped organize last night's tribute to orlando. they wanted to make it clear he's everybody's son and brother now. new this morning, two brookline police officers are joining a class action lawsuit accusing the town of racism. the complaint, filed yesterday, alleges there is a history of racial discrimination and retaliation on every level of town government. the globe reports the town, the board of selectman and several town officials are named in the suit. last night the selectman chair said they are working to address the concerns raised in the lawsuit.

plan today. the fiscal year starts in july. right now the state is looking at a $635 million gap in this budget for the fiscal year. that is likely to mean cuts for state agencies across the board. erika: commitment 2016. a major twist in the republican presidential race. there's a major new twist in the republican race. front-runner donald trump says he will not attend tomorrow's debate on fox news. trump has been feuding with fox news anchor megyn kelly since the first debate last summer. kelly will be one of the moderators tomorrow. democrat bernie sanders will hold a meeting with the president today. the private meeting is expected to be informal. it comes as both sanders and hillary clinton try to rev up voters in iowa. >> if you go to the caucus monday night and stand up for me there, i will work my heart out for you. >> when our people vote, we win

mid 30's is our average high. we'll settle back into the upper 30's heading into the weekend. that is still above average for this time of year. the real cold is up in canada. it looks as though it will stay locked up in canada for the short-term. no big cold coming back our way. look at these temperatures out the door. a few 30's in worcester county. worcester is 37. boston now is 42 and the temperatures may actually fall a couple of degrees here and gently work their way back up to where we are now heading into the afternoon. no big temperature changes today. the cape, 44 high the showers are coming out ahead of a frontal boundary that is kind of slowly pushing south and eastward. as long as this front is in the vicinity, we'll keep the risk for a couple of showers around and that will be the case for

that front shifts offshore, clouds start to break up around lunchtime and we'll see a mixture of clouds and sun. temperatures in the low 40's this afternoon. winds out of the west at 10-15 miles per hour. tonight we'll drop back down into the teens and 20's. after all of that melting today, i expect a refreeze today. watch out tomorrow morning. there could be a few icy spots. tomorrow is a quiet day. we're watching this storm head offshore. a little disturbance dropping in. the end result could be a few snow flurries on thursday and friday. notice how the clouds fill in. it is a cloudy day on friday and there might be one or two snow showers or flurries that work through in the afternoon. the focus is the coastline to our north. otherwise we head into the weekend and we're looking at the temperatures to climb again. starting out in the upper 30's here on saturday, but look at this sunday and early next week. the jet stream shifting northwest again.

hundreds of documents expected to be released as early as today. randy: doug meehan is at the federal courthouse with what that could show. doug: good morning. those documents not being released on till now. the judge presiding over the ed their released. it is going to be interesting prosecutors and lawyers for dzhokhar tsarnaev submitted a list of 600 court filings and exhibits that both sides agreed can be made public. dzhokhar tsarnaev was convicted and sentenced to death last year for his role in the 2013 attack. three people were killed and 260 injured. among the documents set to be unsealed -- search warrants, dna reports, and the fbi interview with dzhokhar tsarnaev. we do not have an exact timeline on when those documents will be

erika: cindy has your forecast. we are starting off some warm today. feels like spring. cindy: yesterday, 51 in boston. tracking rain showers on the cape. when you think that' s what we were dealing with a year ago. quite a difference. this is just the beginning of our snow blitz. we were in the midst of our first blizzard where we got over two feet of snow. there would be three more storms coming in 3.5 weeks taking us to valentine' s day. you remember last weather. not a repeat. we are looking at above average temperatures. not the 50 we had yesterday but 40' s the next couple days. even as we head into the weekend, upper 30' s. and average high this time of year is only in the mid 30' s. we have got reading starting out in the low 40' s this money. coldest temperatures through worcester county. notice of boston where 42. temperatures may actually fall a

well above average. we are running about two degrees above what would be considered normal. starting off this morning on the mild side. low 40' s out the door. a westerly wind at 12 miles per hour. not as strong today but that westerly wind is going to bring in some drier air. we have got close this morning associated with a frontal boundary. a couple showers on the south coast and the cape. behind that front, the air does not get much colder until you get north of the border. there is some chilly air in canada. a mild start, lower 40' s. a few 30' s after worcester county but everybody above the freezing mark. there are these showers scanning the south coast. most of the activity is south of middleborough. it is very light. but a good idea in this area to have an umbrella with you because for the next two hours, we do have a risk of a couple more showers.

re drying out by lunchtime. clouds breaking for sunshine. a mixture of sunshine in class this afternoon. temperatures holding in the lower 40' s. all that melting that happens today is going to re-freeze. we are down in the teens and 20' s tomorrow. we are between systems but as this disturbance presses on friday there may be some interaction with the storm offshore. the book of the moisture stays offshore but the rest, a few flurries closer to the coast line on friday. wow, look what is happening with the jet stream as we head toward sunday and especially early next week. the jet stream lifting to the north. that puts us in mild temperatures for this time of fear. look at that on monday -- high temperatures back into the 50' s. the january thaw may linger into february. kevin: it is getting busy. we have our first trouble spot. it is not downtown.
