department was out temporarily closing down some streets today to remove trees of the police chief said, though, one of the hardest parts about these these two tragedies, they were so unexpected and accidental, no one could have known. >> we had another tragic accident. juli: a community deaths the sudden death of a beloved coach and dad. he loved to play hockey with his kids. the 48-year-old was tending to their backyard rink friday night when a branch snapped beneath the weight of snow and came crashing down. >> the tree limb was approximately 40 to 50 feet above him, directly above him. he did not hear it and had no time to react and it struck him on the head. juli: he was rushed in grave condition. he passed away late saturday afternoon. his accident happened just hours after the same terrible tragedy on the other side of town. 6-year-old kaylee kenyon was

pam: taking a live look at the boston skyline this saturday night, cold and clear, but guess what, more storminess could be headed our way. storm team's mike wankum is on our way. we had melting today. mike w.: very slippery and be cautious. notice in boston, we drop down close to the freezing mark in many locations. outside the city, most everyone is dropping into the 20's tonight. what is melted and untreated, it's going to freeze up. i was out in the parking lot, there are some icy spots out there right now. what happens tomorrow, we get sunshine, some late-day clouds will come in. another day of melting as temperatures climb into the 40's. you know that is not going to last very long. the national weather service has issued this, a winter storm watch for monday morning to tuesday morning for snow south of the city. we got one storm system down the coast, another one here. this is coming through first. this one is coming right behind it.

technology could carry a missile targeting the u.s. last month north korea claimed it did test successfully a hydrogen. north korea state media vows that the country will launch more satellites. pam: boston police are investigating after a body was discovered at a construction site in the back bay. investigators on scene at 296 beacon street for much of the day. two boston firefighters lost their lives battling a nine alarm fire next door two years ago. the block of brownstones is being renovated after sustaining heavy damage during that fire. an investigator still trying to determine the cause of a deadly fire in north andover, a man who lives there was able to rescue his elderly mother from the burning building. nicole estaphan has more of what we know, nicole. nicole: we're learning more about the victim in this case. several neighbors say this

a nearby college. >> when i opened the door, the fire came rushing out at me. nicole: billy kelly described the rescue attempt as flames enter thed home. >> i ran down stairs to my mother, i know she can't walk. so i help her out of the house. nicole: with the help of a neighbor, kelly was able to carry his sick elderly mother out of the park street house, followed quickly by his father, but upstairs, a woman tenant remained trapped. >> i didn't know what to do. i ran up the back door there to try to help her, too, but it was just too much smoke and everything. nicole: firefighters would later find the body of the woman described to be in her 60's. >> after being able to knock the fire down, they did locate a victim who was found in the room of origin and she had succumbed to the conditions of the fire. nicole: the fire started in the living room, the same room found. i did speak with investigators

reid: seven people evacuated from townhouses in charlestown this morning after high levels of carbon monoxide was discovered. a detector went off and alerted people to the danger. everyone was gotten out safely. pam: it will take a while to remove the downed crane in new york city. workers cut it into 35 pieces to cart it away. when the crane crashed friday, one person killed, three others injured. the crane was inspected just the day before. it is a massive job moving this collapsed crane, all 565 feet of it. crews forced to use blow torches to tear it apart after it came crashing down friday morning in new york city killing one and injuring three, crushing cars and sending this

it happened in california. the sea lion cub waddled into the marine room restaurant on thursday making itself very comfortable there in a booth. when workers noticed, they called seaworld san diego. rescuers immediately came and realized the sea lion was malnourished. cubs are struggling to survive in that region, stormy weather and tides. >> they are looking for high ground and warm areas to haul out for the night. southern california has also been impacted by an unusual mortality event that is impacting the food sources for the sea lions. not only are they looking for high ground, they're also searching out food. reid: the cub is being treated at seaworld san diego. vets say they are cautiously optimistic that the cub will make a full recovery. pam: i hope he survives and we have to contend with some more stormy weather, mike? mike w.: what an unusual week

we started the month with 65 degrees as a high temperature. today was 35 degrees. get used to the cooler temperatures, we have been so far above normal, mother nature likes to even things out. that is happening this week. anything that melted, untreated surfaces is freezing up out there. under clear skies as we drop off 28 degrees and tomorrow we starts with lots of sunshine. there are some late day clouds moving in. we have a system coming up the coast, mild, plenty of melting tomorrow, 42 to 44 degrees for your high temperatures for tomorrow. let's talk about the storm coming up the coast. here is how the map looks at 11:00 monday morning. you see what happens. this is a big, big storm. you notice where it's at. it's a little too far offshore. if it is moving this way a little bit, we change the forecast dramatically. keep an eye on the forecast tomorrow if something happens.

snow as you head down toward the cape and parts of plymouth county. part two is forming and as it lifts, it wants to follow the same path, not as big or powerful and staying quite a bit offshore. more snow on tuesday. it's a 1-2 punch going on with this system as it works its way through. so when you add all of that talking about? one to three, in the boston area down to the south, two to four inches, closer to the storm, three to six. you get the idea. if the storm system shifted this way or this way a little bit, it will change the numbers dramatically. i got some new information in, a few moments ago, i'm kind of leaning towards the lower end of these numbers at this point. we'll keep you posted as we go through the forecast tomorrow. there is a winter storm watch out, it means keep an eye on the weather south from the city to the cape and the islands, and here is a wild card, ocean effect. the winds can be out of the northeast.

moisture in and we could have the bands set up. that would put us at the higher ends of the totals i was showing you. high tide comes in at 11:00 on monday. with the northeasterly wind, there may be pockets of minor flooding. not a major event, but pockets here or there. watch the winds, they will be strong monday morning. if you are at the coast inland, you won't notice it so much. tomorrow, 43 degrees, sunshine, a little bit of cloud cover and we talk about the system on monday. here is a timeline of what is going to happen. you notice how the clouds start rolling their way in and we talk about the snow just about after the morning commute. it's snowing off and on throughout the day, tapers off and we'll see most of our activity. tuesday, a little bit of light snow hanging around a bit. you notice we cool down and on thursday, a shot of cold air comes in here, perhaps some snow showers before even colder air finishes off the week.

this after a powerful 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck taiwan overnight. rescue teams drilling through tons of rubble frantically working to pull out small children, the quake toppling large buildings including a high-rise apartment complex, and rescue workers digging through debris and climbing over stacks of concrete to multiple and pets trapped under mountains of debris. more than 100 people are still listed as missing, nearly 500 people were also hurt in the quake. reid: bob is joining us to take a look at sports ahead. something they typically don't do? bob: at home, they have been struggling at home for a while, they're doing so well at the garden, things are looking good again.
