has fallen so far, on cape cod where a blanket of 7-10 inches of snow is what is on the ground. everywhere. the very heavy snow is over but there are still bands. this will stick around well into the night. what we are going to see is the snow covering the entire region. even by 9:00 and by 11:00. by 11:00, it is finally weakening. when it is done, and we are left with snow showers for tomorrow, we will have this amount of snow. 8-12 inches along the cape and 5-9 inches in the boston area, somewhat less further to the north and west. there is also the cold to talk about. maria: we will be waiting for that. the storm moving in right as an astronomically high tide hit in plymouth.

a lot of gusty wind out there. let' s head over to marshfield. coverage. re there. jack: we have had a day of whiteout conditions and all of a sudden in the last hour, the snow is back. heavy snow at that. but so far, so far so good. >> it went over the seawall a few hours before high tide. >> yes, it does get pretty flooded over here. it blocks off that area. jack: 45 minutes after high tide and you can see that the flooding was not that bad. now we are concerned with the incredible snow and wind. the snow is sideways. >> with the astronomical high tide, you have to expect it.

the windblown snow was not taking -- was not sticking. >> last year, all the damage that was caught. jack: the next high tide is around 11:00 tonight. they don' t think it will be as high as today. i am jack harper. ed: take a look at these pictures from nantucket. water spilling into neighborhoods shutting down several streets with nearly a foot of water. and our live team coverage continues now with nicole. she has been battling the wind all day. nicole: be talking is not the snow but the highway and we have been seeing. they are relenting just a bit. at the big concern earlier in the day, you can seek officials -- you can see officials set up roadblocks.

video from high tide, they actually avoided some of the big ways that they usually get but they were intense for a short bit. again, the wind really has been streets. a lot of folks here, he crews are still monitoring the wind to but so far, so good. street where we are. road. the roads are becoming snow covered because the snow is blowing onto the roadways. underneath the snow, a lot of debris. we have would and debris and lobster traps. be careful driving around. maria: that is good advice. s go to sandwich now, and they weathered the storm relatively well.

tide this morning, combined with the high winds, would lead to flooding and downed power lines. that didn' t happen. the next high tide is just after 11:00 tonight and by that time, the worst of the storm will have passed. ed: brockton trying to keep ahead of the snow. as all communities are trying to do. driving is always tricky. the city has 180 pieces of snow removal equipment making the rounds. brockton will remain in snow emergency at least through overnight. that means no street parking, police are aggressively towing. maria: boston is missing the brunt but it is still on track to get five inches. kids, you had a snow day today but he will have school tomorrow. ed : delivering the bad news already. the wind gusts are still going.

we are keeping a close eye on the wind but notice the direction. we have a diminishing slow wind. but the direction will change as it goes along the shoreline. let me show you earlier today. this was from revere beach highway and the seawall really shot the breeze that. a lot of wave action going on there as well. so what will happen tonight? behind astronomical tide was this morning but this tide is a good foot below that and we have a little bit of search and wave action, but the only flooding we will see is between 10:00-2:00 in the morning. the wind direction really helps us out a lot. it has it was a northeast direction and now it is a northerly breeze which is along the coast, more than anything else. so it has been downgraded to a

ed: it is the eve of new s first in the nation primary. new at 7:00, we' re getting our first look at the final wmur/cnn poll before the vote. the one-time democratic underdog, bernie sanders, remains a heavy favorite with 61% support to hillary clinton' s 35%. despite these numbers, a sizable pool of democrats in this poll have yet to settle, 36% are still undecided. now to the republican side. heads into the primary election the clear favorite on the republican side, and that' s the closest thing you' ll find to a sure thing. marco rubio, ted cruz, and john kasich round out the top 4. the bottom tier of jeb bush, carly fiorina, chris christie, and ben carson are all bunched together within the poll' s margin of error. but there are even more undecideds here 54% of likely republican voters are still on the fence. marie: let' s talk to our analyst, here we go maryanne marsh for the democrats. and pat griffin for the republicans.

>> do you want the high tide numbers? >> no, you are talking for the republicans. it is good to see you. it is the night before. the candidates are all of it place today and you just heard ed talk about the latest poll. what does this tell you? a lot of undecideds. 36% for likely democratic and 55% for likely republican. do we usually go into new hampshire with those undecided numbers? >> on the republican side, these are high numbers. a lot of candidates and a lot of choices. it is pretty clear that donald trump is going to win this. the story coming out of new hampshire is who is in second and third and how close are they together.

because one of the governors will do well and will go to south carolina. so it is anybody' s guess. i think it could go anyway. do not believe any of the polls because right now it is like trying to catch a snowflake. >> we were talking about that the other day. we see bernie sanders who is dominant and hillary clinton is slightly closing the gap. does she leave new hampshire being second and still claim victory? >> we will see. they are expecting a record turnout tomorrow, 70%. the bigger the turnout, the better for bernie sanders and donald trump. we will see if they can close that gap. i retreated today all the polls from 2008 and they all were wrong. so you have to wait and see. for hillary clinton, the smaller

that is pretty much where the blizzard warning was. the visibility is still down the coast there is still light snow that is a cumulative. it is still cold and it is a light and dry powdery kind of snow. the wind gusts are slowly coming down along the coast and the cape. that is almost at 30 miles per hour. even with that, the wind chills are in the single digits. some late reports into us so let us share that. along the north shore, we have 3.5" is. natick at four inches. we have three or so inches in souks very. and about three inches in surely. boston logan airport, 4.7 inches. it increases as you go through the south shore. six in south plymouth and most of the cape is up around 7-10

storm, it almost looks like a hurricane. general lower visibility with region. in the cold and fluffy snow that we are getting, it can still pile up. that will go on between now and midnight before it comes to an end. it is study is along the north shore and south shore. here you can see we get to just past midnight. most of it is done. this misses so we don' t have to worry about the second storm. these should be the final amounts. 5-9 inches in boston. in the cape ann, lesser amounts but i have to let you know that the incredible bitter cold will move in this weekend. it will be the coldest we have seen so far and even boston could be below zero early sunday
