the storms earlier were not doing a whole lot, dumping some rain in the community, but now you see it popping up with lightening across the regions. we have been focusing on a couple storms. these have been popping up at this one over maynard will continue to head to the east and southeast, anywhere from 25 to 30 miles per hour, moving rapidly. if you are having a rb next 15 minutes to half hour as they move through. this system over worcester will miss the majority of the worcester area. where these storms head and will be humidities stick around? we have that coming up later on.

report at 10:00 and 11:00. nicole estaphan, wcvb newscenter 5. diane: the democratic nominee taking the weekend off from campaigning. hillary clinton has no scheduled public events. she will be back out next week, heading to the swing state of florida. the first family is now vacation on martha's vineyard. they arrived today for a two week stay. they have spent their summer vacation on the island nearly every year since the 2008 election. president obama is expected to attend at least one fundraiser for hillary clinton on the island later this month. reid: where an investigation into what caused a rough landing at beverly airport today. a pilot forced to land with a wheel missing. the pilot had a difficult time, as you can imagine, but ultimately did safely land. several rescue crews were ready to jump into action if needed, but no one was hurt in the landing. the faa will now be working to find out what went wrong. diane: stranded dolphins on cape cod. mary saladna shows us the effort

it has been a busy day for teams on the cape. this is one of 10 dolphins that beached itself today in and around barnstable harbor. >> there was a group of six and a group of four. the tides came in so quickly before we could get on scene, the animals re-floated. mary: needed to transport the young adults to another area. that meant moving them to waiting vehicles where vital signs will be monitored in transit. >> people say, i will push them into the water. they can brief perfectly outside the water. that is not the issue. the issue is sunburn. mary: beachgoers can help the

bedsheets can help until rescue crews arrive. >> you keep them from hurting themselves and also, you put another wet one on top -- you want to keep them cool, covered. mary: the next step is to transport those dolphins closer to the mouth of barnstable harbor. i mary saladna, wcvb newscenter 5. reid: in the meantime,ee beaches on the cape are closed for the weekend after several great white sharks were seen feasting on a whale carcass off the coast. as many as six sharks were spotted in the waters near truro. noons landing, beach point, and cold storage beaches are closed as a precaution. diane: new at 5:00, we now know the name of the driver killed in a fiery crash in sutton. state police have identified him as 47-year-old christopher paquin of grafton. the crash happened on route 146

troopers say they found the car in flames as the arrived on scene. no one else was hurt. the cause is under investigation. new information on a deadly motorcycle crash in beverly. state police say an off duty trooper witnessed the crash on route 128 and rushed over to help. troopers say a 30-year-old gloucester man crashed into a guardrail and was killed. his passenger, a 29-year-old rockport woman, was seriously hurt. reid: two fall river where a in that city. police say two men were stabbed late last night and rushed to the hospital. they have not released the men's names, but say the victims are 26 and 54-years-old. there is no update on their injuries. a four-alarm fire at a kingston, new hampshire lumberyard is still smoldering right now. firefighters are still on the scene at northland forest products. flames broke out around one this morning. it took nearly seven hours to control the fire in the building full of raw lumber. three other buildings on the property caught fire but no neighboring homes were damaged. investigators do not expect foul play.

officers was likely terrorism. the attack happened in front of a police station in a city south of brussels. police say the man was shouting in arabic during the attack. he was shot and killed. the officers are expected to be ok. the entire country is still on high alert following the attacks that killed 32 people in march. a fire in france that killed 13 people and hurt at least six more is being called an accident. someone carrying a birthday cake inside this bar tripped and fell down the basement stairs. the candles started the fire. the fire burned quickly, and was more than 80 firefighters were called in to help battle the flames. reid: concert chaos in new jersey. a railing collapsed during a performance, sending dozens to the hospital. and the entire thing was caught on camera. reporter: the excitement to see

doug: doug meehan, wcvb newscenter 5. diane: more spraying today in miami as the city works to fight mosquitoes. at least 15 people have contracted the virus in the wynwood neighborhood of the city. they are the first cases of zika spread by mosquitoes in the u.s. florida governor rick scott says the state will do everything it can to fight the disease and keep people safe. the green party holding its national convention in houston, texas this weekend. jill stein is the party's presumptive nominee for president. william kremi will join her on the ticket. before the delegates vote today, wikileaks founder julian assange will speak to the convention on a live video feed. reid: a one pennsylvania bride when she met the man now living with her father's heart. jeni stepian's father's organs were donation after his murder in 2006. arthur thomas received her father's heart following a 16-year wait. the two finally met on the day before stepian's wedding. but that is not all. thomas even walked her down the aisle today.

this one still in the hearts, still pretty strong in the heat of the moment. you can see the rain, and as we put the timetable on this for the next half hour or so, you can see moving at 25 or 30 miles per hour. this has hundred lightning with it. keep an eye out, especially the next half hour to an hour as the storm slowly moves out and will continue to produce heavier rain. of scattered showers and thunderstorms. temperatures will not drop all that much. the big difference between this side of the front and the western side is the dry air. temperatures will get back into the 80's, but i think it will be much more comfortable. dew point in the 50's and that'll be the trend for the next couple of days area 89

70's, especially down through washington. very uncomfortable, even oppressive out there. but behind it, the dew points dropping into the 50's and then the 40's. it looks like much drier air is on the way. until the evening, it is still going to remain very uncomfortable. later on in the late morning, early morning hours, the dew points will drop back down and that will be the trend as we head into the next couple of days. we stay around 70 degrees in boston. i do not think the dry air quite makes it to us. points north and west, temperatures drop into the 50's. it will start to be comfortable by morning. then high temperatures will get down into the 80's. the big difference you're going to notice, lots of sunshine and much less humid.

very heavy rains. even though there is a lot of lightning with the system, very heavy downpours. with the ground being so dry across the area it looks like that is creating localized flooding. i will be back to talk about the outlook for the remainder of the weekend. reid: joe, thank you. new at 5:30, hudson, new hampshire police are searching for a suspect in an armed robbery. police ask for the public's help identifying this man. not much to see. but he's accused of robbing a through the bank's alarm company. they were notified of an armed robbery taking place. >> the subject had a mask over his face as he went into the bank. a handgun was seen, but it was not pointed at the tellers, and then be subject left the bank shortly thereafter with an undisclosed amount of money.

deplorable conditions on a westport farm are now in a new shelter. nearly a thousand animals are expected to stay at the new site as the criminal investigation moves forward. two members of westport's board of health have had their animal inspection duties revoked. an inspection in january noted no problems. but state investigators say conditions are so bad, they took years to mount. an update tonight on the cats rescued from an upton home this week. nine of the cats are now being cared for by volunteers at local shelters. the volunteers are working to rehabilitate and socialize the cats. from the now-condemned home. mspca workers are continuing efforts to trap remaining cats. reid: 5 investigates learning a minnesota man will finally return to massachusetts to face charges he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old boy in 2010. mike beaudet spoke exclusively with the alleged victim's mother who hopes justice is now within reach. >> it was like watching the survivors of the marathon bombing.

-- that everything about our life was different. mike: it is a pain this mother still lives with every single day the pain of knowing her 14-year-old son was allegedly sexually abused by someone she had invited into her home. >> it's very difficult, yes, as a mother to see my child suffer. mike: it was back in matthew 2010. feeney was staying with this mother. it ended with feeney facing criminal charges, including child rape. according to court documents, feeney was in the teen's bedroom and stuck his hand on the child's privates. later that day during another encounter, feeney allegedly told the teenager that he wanted to buy the child a phone and a computer and he wanted to give the child a car when he was sixteen. >> i felt like somehow i had failed to protect him. but i had no idea that he needed to be protected. mike: little did this mother know feeney already had a criminal record. he was convicted of several child abuse charges in the early

, feeney wrote in a journal about his own sexual interest in young boys. despite that conviction, feeney continued to work with children as a casting director in minnesota and after the massachusetts teenager came forward in word of the criminal 2011, charges spread to the mid-west. soon after two brothers in that state reported similar allegations which feeney talked about in a secretly recorded meeting broadcast on a minnesota tv station. mike: in 2013 feeney pleaded guilty to sexual assault charges involving the brothers and was sentenced to 9 years in prison. >> i felt kind of responsible not telling anyone. mike last week, a jury in : minnesota awarded the brothers $2.1 million in a civil suit.

, but i would trade anything for it not have happened. mike: feeney had been fighting extradition, but has now agreed to come back to massachusetts to stand trial. >> it almost feels like surreal that can this finally really be happening after all this time and then the anxiety is knowing how stressful this is going to be. mike: this local mother says it's especially important for her son who is now 19. , >> my son didn't want this to happen to another boy. i don't know how long matthew feeney will serve if he is convicted here but i know that my son will serve a life sentence. so i'm hoping that if there are other victims that they have the courage to come forward. reid: that was mike beaudet reporting. matthew feeney has pleaded not guilty to some of the massachusetts charges, and is expected to be arraigned on the remainder of those charges in the next few weeks including the , most serious charge of child rape. the bristol da's office tells us it's glad that feeney is finally coming to massachusetts to face the charges. feeney's attorney did not return our phone call.

union says a new federal mandate to better serve homeless students will be tough to achieve due to budget constraints. the changes include removing enrollment barriers, more development for teachers, and shouldering the cost of transporting the kids to and from school. last year it cost the city $3.8 million to take the 3900 homeless students to and from school. gypsy moths are taking a toll on the trees in massachusetts. the damage in 2016 so far is more than 9 times greater than last year. and recreation says the moths have aggressively eaten leaves. the dcr completes aerial surveys each year to measure forest damage. reid: all right, coming up. -- a new hampshire teen's wish is granted. diane: the celebration today in his honor. battery chargers you can check out. how one local company is turning our desperate search for an outlet into a cutting-edge

the storm system we are talking about, the one with all of the lightning the last hour or so, a severe warning for that is to him as it continues to move to the east-southeast. all of those communities just east of that, you can see that watch area, the warning in place as the system continues to move to be eased over the next half an hour, 45 minutes. take a look at the system will continue to move to the east. this could produce vivid lightning. all of the storms have very heavy rainfall. you can see it stretches down and through southbridge. you can see an inch and a half, two inches of rain as it continues to move to the east very rapidly.

narrow band of sunshine today out ahead of the cold front and that is what is fueling it. very humid air. at dew point well in the 70's. we only have an hour or two left before the sunshine goes down and the cold front pushes through later on tonight. you can see boston is 89 degrees, 92 in boston. those are excellent you can see the cool air behind the storm systems, now only some seven degrees. and then very oppressive air. that will stick around until the front moves through. the dew points back into albany in new york are 67 degrees and even drier and all of that air is swinging away for the next couple of days.
