there this morning. >> yes. a little sweater on came in this morning. probably want some sort of layer or extra layer this morning. but you can shed it in a few hours. temperatures are going to warm up pretty quickly. not as many 40's on the map this morning as we had yesterday morning. but definitely cool out through northern worcester county. orange at 46. worcester 55. it is 62 in town right now. notice south of town, norwood to taunton, we're back down in the upper 40's. 50's showing up i above are clear. a little bit of fog here has formed through the connecticut river valley and a pass in this low spot around norwood. this is going to burn off quickly. high pressure sitting right on top of us today, so another beautiful day. just like yesterday with lots of sunshine. however, off to the west, there is a frontal boundary. this front is producing some showers and storms and these may catch up with us tomorrow when we could see the possibility of some severe storms late in the day.

during this attack. >> the eye's doug meehan is in methuen this morning tracking those overnight developments. >> randy, emily, good morning. yes, the family of the victim obviously heartbroken this morning at methuen police continue to search for her ex-boyfriend this morning. wanda rosa's body discovered yesterday inside her tudor street home. right now, police are looking for emilio delarosa, the father of their 4-year-old son. friends tell newscenter 5 rosa wanted her ex to know her son. prison, serving time for kidnapping rosa, putting her in the trunk and then driving her to new jersey. now, after the kidnapping, wanda rosa had taken out an abuse prevention order. talking to us on the phone, her uncle says the family is devastated. >> she was a wonderful girl. a beautiful smile. and a loving girl she was. >> now, police say that after the attack, emilio delarosa took the boy to a family member's

called police. delarosa is from nearby lawrence. he's still on the run this morning. if you know where he is, you're asked to call police. we're live in methuen this morning. doug meehan, wcvb newscenter 5. >> thank you. breaking news -- a water main break causing some traffic issues in woburn. this is the route 38 rotary under route 128. just one lane is open to traffic. we'll be updating this. >> breaking details in a crash in fall river. state police say a man was hit by a car on route 24 north. the last night. police tell us the victim's car was in the breakdown lane, but it's unclear where he was when he was hit. that man was airlifted to rhode island hospital with serious injuries. the car involved did stay at the scene. and right now, braintree police are asking for help in finding a missing woman who has alzheimer's. they say a taxi picked up patricia devine at her house and dropped her off at logan airport yesterday afternoon. devine was planning to head to florida. it's not known if she got on

anyone with information should call braintree police. >> coming up on five minutes after 5:00. commitment 2016. donald trump was campaigning through the battleground states today. president obama is hitting the trail for hillary clinton in philadelphia after she was forced to take time off because of sickness, and erika is here with the new developments. erika? >> randy, hillary clinton says she will release more details about her health later this week and is urging her rival to do the same. that's as she explained why she kept her pneumonia >> like a lot of people, i just thought i could keep going forward and power through it, and, obviously, that didn't work out so well. >> clinton discussing this stumble sunday on cnn last night, which happened two days after she was diagnosed. she opened up about her health as trump took aim at her comments that half his supporters are deplorables, a comment she says she regrets. >> hillary clinton spoke with hatred in her heart for these

scuffle breaking out. a supporter swung at a protestor in the crowd as that protestor was escorted out, he's also seen slapping a woman. but was allowed to stay at that rally. as for his health, donald trump says he had a physical last week and will release information soon. randy? >> several key races are taking place in new hampshire's state primary today. the most highly contested race is for governor. five republicans and five democrats are seeking to the democrat governor maggie hassan. she hopes to unseat republican senator kelly ayotte in november. despite critical races, less than 1/4 of registered voters are expected to turn out today. >> a big show of support after vandals target a new hampshire mosque on 9/11. dozens of people of all faiths gathering last night at the islamic society of greater nashua. police say three young vandals used a rock to shatter a window at the house of worship sunday night. people were praying inside when

standing in unity. >> this is not how we want our community to be known. >> i am receiving lots of voice mail in our telephone supporting us, and people are sobbing. and i sob, too, when i hear their voice. >> police say the juvenile suspected in the vandalism were seen earlier that night throwing rocks at a street sign. they hope security cameras in the area can help them make arrests. have ties to massachusetts. take a look. this is a new facial reconstruction of the victim. her body was found in maryland in 1976. but pollen tests on her clothes suggest she may have been from boston, possibly jamaica plain. her name may have been jasmine and went by the nickname jassy.

his decision to take a knee during the national anthem. the junior at doherty memorial was initially reluctant to admit why he was kneeling during the anthem. michael oppong is his name. he told his coach he was tying his shoes. when his coach told him he may miss a game, he sent a tweet out writing that he'd been suspended for the gesture. oppong was not disciplined, though. once it was made clear that he knelt because he is upset about the americans, the superintendent of schools says it's oppong's constitutional right. >> i plan on continuing to kneel because i still believe that even though this whole situation is dealt with -- >> the school is implementing it's bullying policy to make sure oppong can continue to exercise his right to free speech. two more keolis employees are off the job this morning accused of fudging their timecards.

perfect to do anything. you step on the crunchy grass and say i guess we could use rain. >> are we getting any? >> not today. tomorrow, a brief shower or downpour, but it will come in with a shower and storm. a heads-up that later tomorrow, some of these storms could contain some strong winds. so a heads-up on that. strong prediction center eyeing parts of new england as well with the potential that some of these storms could be severe tomorrow afternoon with the threat of strong to damaging those storms right now still way off to the west, back to the great lakes. you can see a line of storms with this bow echo signature back here through wisconsin. always an indication when you see that that there could be stronger winds. that's the whole line we'll be watching tomorrow. it's coming in with a front. out ahead of it, high pressure just smack dab right on top of us. it's going to be a beautiful day. similar to yesterday with the comfortable dry air. at least overhead for now. out ahead of that front, there's

as that front approaches tomorrow, you're actually going to notice the humidity pick up briefly. once the front goes by, the humidity is right back down to end the week. overall, still pretty comfortable out there. look at these temperatures. 40's and 50's out the door in the suburbs. 55 in worcester right now. notice orange 46. norwood 47. we've got upper 40's in taunton. lots of 50's on the cape. south shore, north shore, 62 right now in boston. so once the sun comes up at 6:22, we'll see it pretty so that means no sea breeze along our east coast. it looks like we should see the low 80's even in boston. south coast cape islands as well will be cooler today with temperatures mostly in the 70's. if you're headed to fenway for the game, clear and pleasant. first pitch in the mid 70's. we start off slower. down mostly into the 60's for overnight lows as a southerly wind and we'll watch this frontal boundary approach tomorrow. the storm track looks to be late

impact weather day with the risk of stronger storms. it looks like they come in later. this is noontime. it's still quiet. as we get toward 4:00, 5:00 around the worcester area, we'll watch storms getting closer into boston for the evening commute and dropping southward toward the cape around 8:00 p.m. once the sun goes down, storms will be ending. tomorrow evening's commute could be impacted by those storms. behind it, feeling like fall. much cooler air and a d probably the pick day. >> not so bad. thank you, cindy. the roads have been quiet with the exception of this problem. these are pictures from the scene of a water main break. this is the route 38 rotary under 128. you can see only one lane is getting through. i have gotten reports they may have to shut down the road completely. in the meantime, it is passable. budget in that extra travel time. one lane it's open to traffic at this time. a live look outside of

every time a new charter school opens in massachusetts, it takes funding away from regular public schools in that area. this year alone, charter schools will take more than 400 million dollars away from neighborhood public schools. that's not right. instead of draining even more money from neighborhood public schools and giving it to charters,

"the globe" is reporting this morning that among the changes, there will be additional mental

corrections officers have with mentally ill inmates at bridgewater state hospital. the new plan also includes every inmate receive an individual treatment plan within their first 10 days at the facility. the governor also wants to move mentally ill inmates convicted of state crimes from bridgewater state to a separate facility. now, while those who are charged, not yet convicted of minor crimes, would then stay put. advocates are praising this plan. howe t to have bridgewater state hospital under the control of the department of mental health versus the department of corrections. live this morning at the state house, sera congi, wcvb newscenter 5. >> sera, thank you. new this morning, an immigration ordinance in brockton is now on hold. the trust act would assure undocumented immigrants that police will not detain them on behalf of u.s. immigration and customs enforcement unless a criminal warrant is provided. some officials say they're worried the ordinance could lead

>> right. >> shook off the chill in the morning. >> a little cool out there again this morning. not as cold as yesterday. >> okay. >> in the tropics, we're watching some things. this is ian. not very strong. winds 45 miles per hour. way out in the atlantic, and look where it's heading, farther out in the atlantic. so this is going to go well east of bermuda, not impacting the eastern seaboard, but just wanted to let you know it is out there. ninth named tropical system. we have comfortable, dry air in place. high pressri today will be another beautiful day. but off to the west, there is a frontal boundary. it's producing a broken line of some showers and thunderstorms, and some of these are a little bit intense. the storm prediction center eyeing our area tomorrow as that front comes through with the threat. it's a marginal risk for some severe storms tomorrow. i think the primary concern that we have with any of these storms will be some damaging straight-line wind potential. late on the day on wednesday, just want to let you know there could be some strong to possibly

rain out of them. we got about 1/3 inch this month. we're behind the month close to an inch and our year-long deficit with this drought, nine inches in boston. so we definitely could use some rain. out there this morning, 40's, 50's in the suburbs. 62 right now in town. and we're going to jump up close to 70 degrees by 9:00 a.m. we shake off the chill pretty quickly this morning. sunshine all day long. notice that wind is from the southwest. it's near 80 at lunchtime. low 80's away from the south coan lawrence. not quite as cool tonight. we start out with sunshine tomorrow. but look at this by noontime. these scattered thunderstorms could impact that evening commute dropping down to the cape about 8:00 p.m. and exiting. behind this frontal boundary, wow, it is cooler. it's going to feel like fall. only 70 in the afternoon. let's get you back out roads.

allegedly stealing a car. police say he has a long record and history of running off. >> a smoky scene over los angeles as firefighters battle a major building fire. this fire started in a smoke shop on the second floor yesterday. you can see flames erupting from the roof. more than 150 firefighters responded. no injuries were reported. the cause of that fire under investigation right now. a college football player learns his punishment for allegedly that incident caught on camera saturday night. bernard schirmer of mount saint antonio college is now suspended for five years. the college says the punch was an accident. they plan to appeal that punishment. schirmer also faces the possibility of criminal charges. >> the ncaa joining the nba on pulling big games out of north carolina over that state's controversial bathroom law. the organization announced yesterday that it would pull seven championship sporting events from the state this year

can you imagine you tell that story. that's fantastic. you have it for years. all's well that ends well. here we are cruising through the month of september. we are running above average by more than 2 degrees. we have two more days of well above average temperatures coming both today and tomorrow we're going back into the 80's. average high this time of year is 74. we're actually going to be a little below that here on thursday. so quite a few temperature changes ahead. starting out in the 40's and 50's this morng where it's cool as 45 in orange. 55 in worcester. 62 boston. notice pockets of 40's. 50's on the cape this morning. we have comfortable dry air in place again today. off to the west, notice the front. this is going to come through tomorrow with late-day showers and thunderstorms. and out ahead of that front, the humidity is pooling just a little bit. so as that front approaches tomorrow, the humidity is going to tick up briefly. and then once the front goes by,
