movement five years ago joining those who doubted the president was born in the united states. his father was from kenya. his mother was an american and the president was born in hawaii. randy: today is sentencing day for two people convicted on sexual assault charges. and antoinette antonio is in salem this morning with a preview of what we can expect in court there today. antoinette antonio man and woman guilty. the snapchat video was key evidence. the victim intoxicated, and just 16 years old at that time. 21-year-old rashad rahim face multiple assaults, attempted rape and kidnapping charges related to the attack. rahim was found guilty on all eights bounce and boneia on seven of them.

behind the saugus elementary school. the victim who knew her attack ers testified that she was drinking heavily when the attack happened. the defense arguing that the encounter was consensual but the jury finding that the teenage girl was in no state to consent to anything. a third person in this case did plead guilty to recording that video, and then posting it on snapchat. today's sentencing hearing gets started at 10:00 thisor newscenter 5. >> the man accused in a standoff at rohoboth standoff situation will be in court today. police and swat officers took down 38-year-old benjamin kimball at the cumberland farms on winthrop street. the police did not find a weapon but they say that he did have an x box controller that he pretended was a gun. >> right now a bridgewater plan is facing charges accused of

library, police responded for a report of a man doing just that, and upon arrival police witnessed 43-year-old fred higgins watching the materials and performing a lewd act. he now faces several charges. >> the man convicted in the murder of an off-duty revere police officer has been granted a new trial now. robert death of officer daniel talbot. the state appeals court granted him a new trial. >> it's now 6:06, a police detective is in the hospital after a man attacked him with a meat cleaver just outside of penn station. the attacker had been living in his cars and officers stopped him as he was trying to remove a boot from the car. he then ran off, an off-duty detective tried to tackle the man and that's when the man cut the officer with the meat

tropical storm julia here off the coast, and this is going to be weakening but it looks like some of this moisture may try to interact with this front as it approaches, and if that happens, it would enhance the rain potential here and give us the, perhaps, the ability to get the tropical downpours which could produce significant rain, and that would be a great thing as you know because we have this extreme drought situation. this was updated yesterday. 30%. 60% of the state in this category. the drought is not just this year but last year, as well. 18-inch plus deficit in the boston area, the past two years so we need the rainfall. you will notice first the humidity picking up on saturday but it's a dry day, and a dry start on sunday morningen and then as this front approaches it slows so there may be a couple of showers nearby, at least the threat down at gillette but i think the steadier rain probably comes in on sunday night and into monday. so wet weather here to start off next week, and here's a look at

pond area, late running northbound construction over by mystic valley parkway is in the final stages. shouldn't impact your commute too much. trains and buses on schedule. and many of you have noticed an increased congestion on the roads. frustrating, welsh but there are a few factors contributing to the heavy traffic in the boston area. first the economy is stronger. many companies that have moved to boston are encouraging employees to drive into the city. and also more people are starting their drive earlier in the morning, commute time. the afternoon crunch is starting at 3:00, and used to be around 4:00. september shows a sharp increase in the volume and delays. that usually settles down towards october as the commuters adjust their schedules. is there something that you want to know about your commute or something bugging you? you can ask olessa, tweet me or email me askolessa@hearst.com. i will get answer and is share them right here on the eyeopener. randy. randy: thank you.

by charging them a 20% tip for drivers. the ride sharing company will shell out close to 385,000 to nearly 50,000 customers. those passengers claim that uber said that it was charge the gratuity for drivers. but the company instead took nearly 50% of that for itself. well, the holiday season is rapidly approaching for a lot of companies in the country, and ups has listed the seasonal job openings, the shipping company plans to take on 95,000 workers ahead of the shopping season. that's up 2,000 from last year. the company is looking for package handlers and delivery drivers, including those who operate tractor trailers, and a spokesperson for the company says that the seasonal pay ranges from 10 to 30 an hour. and a check of the markets, asian shares, mostly higher overnight, with many regional mark closed for the holidays. and right now stock futures here are down.

>> we are coming up on 6:4 '4ready for your news to go. >> this is not file tape, this is this year, they are bringing in the salt. the city is getting ready for winter. they are looking at the salt delivery here, 10,000 tons, getting dropped off yesterday. >> not ready. not ready at all. >> we've been dealing with the -- y winter, not last winter. >> right. >> we all remember the snow in 2015. we had so much snow, and when you melt it all down it did not amount to that much water. there was just not a lot of moisture in the snow so for 2015, we ended up seven, eight, nine inches below average for rainfall, and this year we're nine inches, so the past two years, this drought has been going on now, and we have to get to the numbers. it will be tougher to make that up but what we're watching is several things.

night, and that is moving westward. the tropical storm julia, was a depression and now back out in the water so it's reformed into a tropical storm. it's meandering here and some of this moisture may feed into this frontal boundary and this is the front that approaches us on sunday. and so if we can get a tropical connection with this front, it will enhance the moisture potential, and for us, that means the potential for some downpours and the soaking rain, area, and the timing is not on saturday. we're dry, and sunday, during the day, really a medium chance for a few showers. sunday night and monday that the rain threat ramps up. so that's the timing on the weekend. today the high pressure in control, cool, dry air, and a lot of 40s as you are stepping out right now, still 38 on the vineyard, so you will want to layer the jacket. low to mid 70s inland it, turns humid tomorrow but the front is very slow, so the
