president obama: this is still a really dangerous hurricane. if they tell you to evacuate you need to move to higher ground. antoinette: mike, major concerns about that storm surge? mike: right, that is moving into the northern coastal area. we have that, wind, rain, a lot of things to talk about with matthew. you can see that well-defined eye, although it is not as pronounced as earlier today. you see the spiral bands? more spiral bands as you look of the northern coastal area. daytona beach, we may have damaged equipment there because we have been getting reports all morning long. you see gusts -- at saint augustine, 43 miles per hour. and it is still coming this direction. we will have this most of the

surge as high as 11 feet in some areas. president obama: i want to emphasize to everybody this is still a really dangerous hurricane. marci: already one hurricane related death in port saint lucie, florida, and the death toll rising in haiti. nearly 300 killed, entire communities level. matthew moving towards jacksonville. >> there is the potential for significant flooding. marci: aff evacuations in georgia and the carolinas, communities bracing for the destructive path of matthew next. >> that is a lot of water. >> i am banking on you to understand the seriousness all of this storm. marci: it is absolutely serious. the full impact is not clear because with all of this wind and extreme flooding, it is too dangerous for anyone to assess the damage.

antoinette: hurricane matthew continues to cause problems for travelers, with 4500 flights canceled so far between wednesday and saturday. newscenter 5's sera congi shows us the ripple effect is being felt at logan. sera: thousands of flights canceled up and down the east coast, the impact felt here at logan airport. travelers changing their plans. >> i'm going to miami florida -- miami, florida, for caribbean carnival. sera: determined to make it to southern florida, but she had to change her flights. >> the hurricane really messed up the flights. it delays some flights, discontinued flights, really inconvenient, it's hard because some people can't go. sera: hurricane matthew is hitting florida hard, already airports there have shut down. thousands of flights have been canceled, a little more than a dozen to and from florida this

to face a war crimes investigation for their attacks on syrian civilians. kerry accuses the pair of undertaking a targeted strategy, to terrorize civilians, and says they owe the world more than an explanation about why they keep hitting hospitals and women and children. erika: more breaking news this noon -- a woman is under arrest, accused of fatally stabbing her husband in roxbury. 36-year-old karen edwards will be arraigned in west roxbury municipal court today. police say the incident happened last night about midnight inside a residence on wensley street. edwards' most recent address is brooklyn. antoinette: right now, police are searching for suspects after a man is shot and killed on a roxbury street. a school bus with kids on board just feet away. police say the deadly shooting on dearborn street appears to be the result of a fight between several people. boston public schools says crisis counselors are on hand today for students. the name of the victim has not been released. erika: right now still no arrests after a violent home invasion and murder in orange.

this is significantly less than the 229,000 jobs added last september. the labor department says unemployment climbed slightly from 4.9 to 5%. explaining that is the result of more people feeling confident to start looking for jobs, but not all finding thus more were one, counted as unemployed. as more americans do head to work, experts say expect the pace of job growth to slow. antoinette: all right, mike, getting back to that track on hurricane matthew. it's just turning up the florida coastline. mike: been focusing so much on florida, we might want to focus on the carolinas. you can see the eye of it, that's the center. the center is quiet. but around it, that is the eye wall. when it came through cape canaveral, it was close enough to the coast we had winds of 107 miles per hour. there have been gusty winds, but most of that have been staying offshore.

issues. we have a surge of water and we have this rain as well. i think the flooding may become a very big issue. the other thing is, this is the area we are talking about with hurricane force winds. watch what it does. it goes offshore. this goes late tonight into tomorrow. tomorrow mng around charleston, softer line appear that is why i say the carolinas are still under the gun with this particular storm. it will pull her hurricane force winds with that as well. as we look to the north, eight, nine, tengion's of rain seem very likely along the coast of the carolinas. you will be hearing about this storm all weekend long.

even cooler does not look bad. frosty in the morning, temperatures in the 30's, highs around 65 degrees. that is really nice fall weather as we head toward the end of october. harvey will be around at 4:30 p.m. to keep us up-to-date on the latest updates from the national hurricane center as well. erika: mike, thanks. a crash update in arlington. a van rolling down hill, no driver it appears the driver stepped out of the van and left it in drive. as that rolled down the hill, passengers tried to stop it, but couldn't. the driver tried to stop it. both driver and passenger were taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. that driver is facing numerous charges. including leaving a running vehicle unattended.
