it makes many voters want to take a shower rather than becoming enlightened and inspired by these debates. the continue slide to unimagined depth is another blow to the ideal of participatory democracy. the next president will face unsolved issues that can't be ignored. but the last debate, they were ignored. topics never match and were climate change, income get, infrastructure. tape. we support the institution of nationally televised presidential debates, but it is time to think how to best serve the most important audience. moderators often seem powerless to steer discussion to substantive issues and away from personal attacks that most viewers find more repellent than informative.
