cindy: skies mainly clear. boston 39 degrees. winds are light. no big wind chills out the door. it is cold, though, a lot of 20's in the suburbs north of town. you can see from bedford to nashua, just 27 degrees. beverly 30. there's frost out there. you may need time to scrape the windshield off this morning. upper 30's in worcester. 30's this morning on cape cod. it's a cold, clear start. high pressure nosing in. this is going to give us sunshine pretty much all day come up. out of the 20's and 30's this morning. we should be in the mid 40's here by midmorning in boston and we're in the 50's lunchtime on into the afternoon. temperatures will nudge up to around or just over 60 degrees today. well above average for this time of year. average high is 55. lower 60's boston to norwood. nice and mild for election day. this is it. temperatures go down into tomorrow.

we're live in nashua, new hampshire, nicole estaphan, wcvb newscenter 5. emily: thank you. our political analysts have seen a lot in their time in politics and here's what they will be watching for today. >> north carolina and new hampshire, the polls close at 7:30 and 8:00 p.m. these battleground states, if trump wins both, we could be in for a long night. second, the romney states. romney got his clock cleaned by obama in electoral votes. if trump loses any one of these states, he's done. third, african american turnout. so far it's not been great for hillary clinton in early voting. if it's down again, it could be a good night for trump. >> three things to watch -- pennsylvania, new hampshire, and michigan. there's no early voting. all three states are a factor in who wins the white house. emily: some of the first votes in new hampshire are already in this morning.

dixville notch, one of three small communities that voted at midnight. hillary clinton took dixville notch with four votes and hart's location with 17. trump won nearby millfield with 16 votes. dixville notch has picked the winner in three of the last four contests. randy: tight race in new hampshire as democrat maggie hassan hopes to unseat republican kelly ayotte there. and the eye's erika tarantal granite state voters. erika: the race one of the most closely watched in the country. also one of the most expensive. both candidates out in full force to convince voters why they're right for new hampshire. >> there is a clear choice in this election. do we keep going with a senator who repeatedly votes with the special interests or a new senator who sides with the

working hard for them. i'm one of the most bipartisan records. i'll stand up as that independent voice for the people of new hampshire and fight for them. erika: the outcome of this race could determine the balance power in the senate. there are eight seats up for grabs. the democrats could gain the majority there. as for the house, real clear politics gives the repca leaning gop. the democrats have 190 with only 21 toss-ups. the house should remain under republican control. randy? randy: massachusetts voters are making decisions today on four statewide ballot questions. and the eye's doug meehan is in boston with a closer look at what's at stake today as we head to the polls. doug: hey, randy, good morning. yes, as you mentioned, voters are considering four different

dollars are being weighed when these ballots go forward. and a lot of the money coming from out of state. let's break them down. question 2, charter schools. question 3 deals with confining farm animals. a yes vote bans any practice from preventing them from standing up, question 4 will decide if recreational marijuana becomes legal. younger voters favor legalization which means voter turnout will have a big impact on the outcome. there's also question 1, a yes vote here would authorize the massachusetts gaming commission to award a second parlor, but it is very specific, an area near suffolk downs in revere is the only area that fits the

2018 thanks to increased commissions and more private events. the mbta is working forward a more reliable future for the orange line. t managers plan to increase rider capacity by 40% by adding new cars by 2019. now, in the meantime, the t is testing a short-term drop back system involving a two-person inspection of the train cars on the end of the line that is designed to cut down time between trains allowing more trains per hour. emily: the t is also moving forward with itsre extension project. it's named the new project manager, john dalton, a chicago-based construction manager. he will oversee the $2.3 billion project which extends the green line by nearly 5 miles into medford and somerville. the management team is a requirement of the federal transit administration, which is giving a billion dollars in federal aid. three malden high school students win a dress code battle. those students addressed the school committee last night challenging a ban on head wraps
