jason: and countdown to florida, how the candidates are spending their last 24 hours, before the make or break primary. that is all straight ahead for you on this monday morning. we are glad to have you with us. i am jason guy. jazmin: and i and jazmin walker. let' s start with a life outside at downtown orlando. we have a lot of clouds out there on this monday morning. amy, how are we looking? clocks ahead this weekend, so we have to wait another hour before sunrise. today, we will be dealing with clouds. we will see some on and off rain throughout the day. temperatures headed into the mid-80' s though. 64 degrees in ocala. 70 now in orlando and melbourne. we have the clouds, and there are some isolated showers

eastbound from john young good as well. brett: good morning. breaking news center. an orlando police officer is hurt after two cruisers crashed into each other. it happened on l.b. mcleod road, near surfside way just after 1:00 a.m. at the time, they were on their way to a traffic stop involving a stolen car. but once it sped away, both of those officers were called off and then somehow, slammed into each other. wesh 2 has learned the officer , who was hurt, has minor injuries, and was not taken to the hospital. police did not release whether a k-9 was in that suv at the time. there is also no word on what happened to that stolen car. we' ll follow up with police throughout the day. once we know more, we' ll pass it along to you here and inside the wesh 2 mobile app.

school students will be coping with the loss of one of their classmates. jazmin: antwan davis was shot dead over the weekend, his killer is still on the run this morning. alex villareal is live at ocoee middle school. alex: detectives say they are no closer to finding out who did it. now, the boy' s family is asking for the committees help to bring him -- communities -- communi ty' help to bring him justice. he was shot in the head over the weekend. a candlelight vigil will be held for him tomorrow evening in ocoee. >> whenever someone dies needlessly, certainly that is in interest to all of us. when it culminates with a child, a 15-year-old, who was

facing the wrong way. police say the driver was driving recklessly in the westbound lanes, before swerving head-on into construction barriers. the driver was thrown from truck and is in critical condition. the lanes have since reopened. jason: this morning, a gunman is on the loose, following a deadly weekend shooting in pine hills. deputies say a man was shot and killed on saturday night, at the silver hills apartments, off silver star road. witnesses say they saw a silver car drive away from the area , shortly after the gunshots rang out. you' re asked to call the orange county sheriff' s office. jazmin: the man who was shot by deputies outside the wwe training facility is due in court today. a judge will decide whether armando montalvo is competent to stand trial. you might remember this video, of montalvo demanding to be let into that facility, near full sail university. he was later shot, and charged with aggravated assault. montalvo' s father tells wesh 2 news his son has a history of

jason: an autopsy scheduled for today may help deputies determine what caused a man to walk on train tracks, and then be struck by a train. the identity of the victim has not yet been released. high hills police chief says that it is rare to see such accidents in the area. jazmin: as you walk outside today, you might wonder what season it is. jason: let' s get over to amy sweezey with a look ahead. amy: it will be warmer than average today. we are supposed to be in the mid to upper 70' s. that will continue through mid-march. instead, we will be in the middle 80' s. today, we have some clouds and rain. however, we still have a mild start. 68 in palm coast. 70 degrees in orlando. 70 degrees in kissimmee.

jason: you can hear much more from chuck todd coming up on the today show. he will have his breakdown of the presidential race, the violence at trump rallies plus, predictions for tomorrow. that begins at 7:00 on wesh 2. happening today, daytona beach leaders will announce a plan to help solve the city' s homeless problem. jazmin: you may remember last month when dozens of homeless people camped outside an administration building. they may soon have a new place to go, jason: but not everyone is happy about it. brett connolly is here with a preview of today' s announcement. brett: the plan for combating homelessness has become a controversial issue in daytona beach. case in point, today we' ve got various groups coming together to provide assistance and another group will be protesting. catholic charities, halifax urban ministries, and the organization faith are joining forces to offer assistance for a homeless assistance center. they' ll be promoting volusia safe harbor shelter, a facility designed to offer housing.

advocacy group, homeless and hungry, plans to protest. they argue that $12 million, budgeted to build a 250 bed shelter doesn' t leave any money , to get people out of homelessness, like mental health services and job training. the group endorsing safe harbor believes they have the right plan with the shelter. >> we need to measure outcome. you need to know from your partner, -- brett: protesters are planning to organize right near the announcement later. jason: this morning, there are new calls for reporting mental health concerns in pilots , following a new report on last years deadly german wings plane crash.

referred co-pilot, andreas lubitz, to a psychiatric clinic just two weeks earlier and no one said a word to authorities. you might remember, lubitz deliberately crashed the plane into the alps, killing all 150 jazmin: if you' re filling up before work, expect to continue paying more for gas. according to aaa, prices in florida rose seven cents on average in just the past week. the average for regular is hovering around one dollar $.91 statewide -- $1.91 statewide in the orlando area, expect to pay around $1.82. analysts say refinery maintenance and rising oil prices are to blame for the spike. this morning, parts of the gulf coast are on high alert for flash floods after record-breaking rain. the storms have now killed six people and forced thousands more from their homes. 4900 homes were damaged in

the rest of the passengers were taken to a recreation center. amtrak is working to get them to chicago some other way. there were a total of 144 people on board. we will learn much more, as today continues. jazmin: we are following some breaking news out of orlando, where a police officer crashed into a nether patrol car. it happened just after 1:00 a.m.. at the time, both cruisers were on the way to a traffic stop, involving a stolen car. once the car sped away, both of the officers were called off. they somehow ended up crashing. we' re told the officer who was hurt has minor injuries. jazmin: this morning, this 15-year-old will be missed at school. saturday night antwan davis was shot and killed in ocoee. now the community and the , sheriff' s office are calling for answers. jason: wesh 2' s alex villarreal

the outspoken crime fighting chief joins an already crowded field of seven, including deputy sheriff eric dietrich, who retiring sheriff ben johnson has endorsed, and sheriff' s captain dave brannon, who has support from some deputies in the department. jazmin: orange county sheriff' s deputies are looking for answers after a body was found in a , winter park lake. wesh 2 was there as firefighter pulled a man' s body from lake killarney yesterday. the body was found near the lake killarney condos, just off 1792. people who live in the condos on the body. >> it probably came from the south side, because of the ways coming this way. our dock. jazmin: deputies are not looking for any suspects. jason: police in brevard county are searching for a gunman they say opened fire on an easter egg hunt in palm bay. detectives say they received reports that shots were fired into vehicles last night at liberty park. a flash light easter egg hunt was being held there at the time. police say two people later went to the hospital and are expected officers aren' t saying whether

jazmin: a suspect who got trapped beneath a fence while running from police, is now behind bars and about to face a judge. orlando police say pierre michael louis-jacques fired a gun outside the greyhound station on john young parkway sunday. officers say louis-jacques jumped a fence, but a cruise plowed through it and pinned him underneath. arrest, and he' s now facing a slew of charges. no one was hit in that shooting. today, a former lake county teacher, accused of having sex with a student, will enter a plea. marshall jungreis was arrested last month. deputies say he met the 17-year-old online, and had sex with her at east ridge high school. jungreis admitted he was with the student, but denied any sexual activity. he resigned his teaching position within days of his arrest. jason: federal investigators are working to determine the cause of a deadly plane crash in claremont. the plane went down and it m.d.

the orange county sheriff' s office says 35 overdoses so far this year, compared to 50 at this point last year. heroin addicts also comprise a large number of inmates. the sheriff says around 350 are in the jail at any given time. the orange county sheriff says they plan on equipping deputies with an opiate antidote, if they encounter someone overdosing. he said the cost is anywhere between $25,000 and 56 thousand dollars a year. he says it is a small cost to save lives. jason: senator marco rubio is laughing off a heckler who interrupted his rally in the villages on sunday. grexit marco rubio is trying to steal my girlfriend. they met in new hampshire, and she doesn' t look at me in the same way anymore. jason: rubio told wesh 2 that cops told him, the heckler is a comedian, who'
