live in concert. and if you head north to first energy stadium, it's the browns second preseason game against the falcons also at 8:00. a kicking off our live team coverage, make sure you know what you are in store for if you're going downtown tonight. people are already complaining about that parking. >> reporter: well, yes. it's a beautiful night in cleveland, and everybody is excited for these activities going on tonight but if we absolutely had to share one complaint with you, it would be the an explosion of excitement downtown. thousands of people funneling into cleveland for the browns, the indians, and the legendary paul mccartney. well so many are hyped up for a big night in the land, some say there is one thing they are so pumped about. >> it's going to get crazy. i'm grad we didn't drive. >> parking. almost everyone we talked to

>> check out the lot. most are $20 to $40, a surprise for those who didn't realize they were pulling in for a triple threat thursday. >> it was pretty high. >> but while not everything is perfect, many agreed tonight in the summer of the city scene is pretty darn close. >> you have that ev it's certainly abuzz downtown and something pretty special. >> we are right between the fields. paul mccartney starts around 8:00. there are too many people here quite yet but if you're planning on heading downtown tonight for any of these events, everyone has told me you should head out a little early and give yourself some time. news channel 5. a lot of people hoping for clear skies as they had downtown tonight.

clouds. they are dry. they are not going to make any rain for you. we've got some sunshine poking through the clouds. looking good if you come downtown. rain showers well off to the southwest and south. our viewing area at this moment pretty much drive. we straight -- we stay dry the farther north you come. a few thunderstorms here could make it into mansfield over the next three or four hours, maybe in canton after 82 in cleveland, hopkins 85. so if you're coming downtown for any of the big three events, look at this. generally in the 70s. upper 70s by 8:00 p.m., and by 8:00 p.m., lower to middle 70s. leave the rain gear at home

friday and again saturday and again on sunday. more on that coming up. sending it up to the sky for a look at traffic from air- traffic five. parking is becoming an issue. traffic may also become an issue shortly. quickly i want to point out, traffic is working correctly at the intersection of 18th street and state avenue. you can see a little confusion from the folks going through the intersection. there is construction in area. i mentioned those backups we are seeing. those are extending around dead man's curve on 90 headed westbound. so if you are headed down, be where there is heavy back up. we'll give you look at that.

area. free parking an extra train service. we sent them to see how it is looking down there. how is it looking? >> we are actually on the red line coming from the west side going east toward downtown. i can tell you this is actually one of their busiest lines just because they have plenty of free parking available at some of the stations on this side of town. we're coming up on west 117th st >> brookpark is really a busiest station. >> they see an influx of about 7000 extra riders, mostly on the red line from the west side during a typical browns game. tonight they've extended rush hour service with trains coming about every 10 minutes.

powerful pitch. news channel 5. as we enter the home stretch for the presidential race, candidates are eyeing the first debate. we've been watching both campaigns today, and we just learned at least one of the candidates plans to start practicing debate this weekend. >> donald trump's new campaign manager says this week is a hillary clinton stand in that even resemblehe scheduled next month will be a game changer and helped trump's standings in the polls. right now he's lagging behind the clinton campaign. anywhere from five to 15 points. trump is even -- trump has even hired roger ale. it's all part of a new strategy. hillary clinton is already responding. >> donald trump has shown us who he is. he can hire and fire anybody he wants from his campaign.

continuing our two-year investigation into a $50 million county program. it's a story we are bringing you on the 5:00. the program is supposed to get rid of abandoned homes across the county, but our investigation found it got off to a slow start. live on 5 from east 23rd. you check in on that progress again today. what did you learn? >> reporter: a progress is certainly being made as we saw firsthand on east 123rd street. a street with boarded-up houses like the ones you see behind me. as you are about to hear, the program is significantly off mark from its original projections. >> that was the worst. it was really an eyesore. >> with one backhoe and a matter of 15 minutes, this abandoned home

crashing down today. the neighbor said it was there two decades and he spent a lot of time keeping a close eye on it. >> we have to make sure that nobody goes in and out. >> this is part of the demolition program, a program first announced by the former county executive ed fitzgerald in late 2014. his promise, tear down 5000 homes in three years. >> the program is moving along very well actually. >> but nearly two decades later, the county off demolished under the program. >> we are moving as fast as the cities request demolition. >> how it works is the counties essentially act as a bang giving cities money out of the program, the $50 million fund, to bulldoze homes. >> although it is going very

this is not some simple thing where you walk onto a property and knock things down. >> the hold up, according to the land bank and the county, is the lengthy legal process cities must go through before they can demolish a home like this one. curry lives on the opposite end of east 123rd from this eyesore of an area. he explains this house used to be surrounded by empty homes, all of which have been tore down over the years, and for that he is thankful. >> it's very quiet. you can actually go on the porch and my wife loves >> the county would not give me a timeframe as to win all 5000 homes will be torn down. the land bank tells me it demolishes about 20 homes per week and cleveland tears down its own homes under the umbrella of the county program. it tells me that it demolishes about 12 homes per week. news channel 5. now at 5:00, a news channel 5 exclusive. these pictures taken on sunday

drone over the scene giving investigators a new tool as they look for clues about what happened. we got a hold of the drum pictures and video and the sheriffs department talked about how often we can expect to see all of this. >> reporter: the erie county sheriff's department is using drones to investigate crashes, pile up, and that's not all. this is video recorded by a drone camera. the drone was used b 10 car pileup on the ohio turnpike. in the past, authorities have just taken pictures from the ground to investigate crashes but thanks to the new drone technology, the erie county can get a much different view of pileups like this one. the drones skyhigh view is one more tool that can help investigators determine how a crash like this one happened. >> when you are up, it's much easier to see a longer picture of skidmarks, the debris field. it's much easier for them to

for the reconstruction of the action scene, we were able to allow them to tell us what to do, where to go, what pictures to take. >> john adams with the sheriffs department told me right now they are mostly using drones to investigate crashes, but their drones can also be used for search and rescue. >> if you have a child lost in a cornfield or an elderly person, you'd put a drone up in the air, it could go it's able to pick someone out in the cold or an area much quicker. >> these machines could help s.w.a.t. team in tactical situations or standoffs in the future. >> you can save lives. you can send a drone in front of a window where you don't want an officer's face and it could look inside. you would be able to go on top of the building and circle it to see if someone is running outside of the building. >> the sheriffs department likes their drones a much they are

thunderstorms here. down toward hilliard and taylor, the thought of the viewing area. columbus getting some rain and thunder. dry here. should stay dry for most of us. look at this line of thunderstorms. pretty hefty storms coming in out of the indiana into western ohio. our computers suggest a lot of these are going to fade away as this trial begins to weaken. so they'll move east along the route activity will fade before 10:00 or 11:00 tonight. could there be an isolated shower? sure. that's 8:15. most of it fading away. we will mention down around route 30 maybe as far no as akron and ravenna, but i'm thinking mainly canton, wooster, you've got a small chance overnight for an isolated thunder shower. the rest of us should be dry. here you go for the evening.

speaking of football, the pro football hall of fame wants to make it up after feels fiasco canceled game between the colts in the packers. a bad paint job earlier this month left parts of the field looking a little bit like car. shortly before kickoff, the game was called off. today the hall announced fans will get a full refund for game tickets and a one night stay at museum, a picture of hall of famers, and the yearbook. fans who have tickets have mixed feelings on that offer. >> my money back is really the only thing i'm affected by because i live here area for the people that travel, i understand, but one day hotel accommodation isn't enough. you have people coming from the entire week. >> the hall of fame says it is reviewing what happened to make sure it doesn't happen again. >> folks are going to like this. the cleveland cavs shedding

if you're coming downtown, 70s through the evening. should be dry with hit and miss clouds. you are not going to need that rain gear. scanning the skies not seeing showers and thunderstorms anywhere in the viewing area. we are seeing them back to the west. they are floating this way. they're floating toward the east. that could impact mansfield, ashland, wooster. a lot of these are going to fade out as they slide toward the east. we are going to stay drive further to the north. the cities to the north, you are dry. here's your our by hour. near 9:00, look at things fading out. 12:45. you are coming home from a browns victory from a great concert with paul mccartney.

now to a developing story we've been following for you since noon today. new allegations that four u.s. swimmers are lying about being robbed in real. they say it happened on sunday. usa swimming that they were robbed at gunpoint outside the olympic village on sunday have crumbled. police saying there was no robbery. federal brazilian police searches saying at least one of the four olympic swimmers, including ryan lochte, are seen breaking down the bathroom door at a gas station then getting into a fight with a security guard. rewind to last week, and the controversial interview ryan lochte gave to news. >> he had a gun, he cocked it
