lake. people called behnken. i'm keith cate. >> i'm jennifer leigh. thank you for joining us. it is a story that would shock any apartment. a bradenton boy bitten by another child at day care and an employee is charged with a felony. john rogers joins us live outside of jay's bright learner's day care where this all happened. john, the images of this child's injury are disturbing. r horrifying. this is not the first time this day care has had issues. the pictures are unbelievable. amanda beady picked up her son from day care and found him like this with bite marks on his face, back, and arms. he was attacked by another child when they should have been supervised. she declined to speak with 8 on your side but wrote a facebook post that has gone viral.

as a mother, you hear these day care horror stories and pray it doesn't happen to your children. >> the fact of the matter is the employee who was supposed to be watching these children wasn't doing her job at the time. >> reporter: deputies say 23- year-old casey burke failed to properly care for the children. the arrest report says the kids were napping while burke should have been watching. instead, she talked to colleagues and ate lunch. at one point, she heard crying neglect which is a felony. we went to the day care looking for answers. but they didn't want to talk. >> i'm not going to talk about it. >> reporter: 8 on your side went digging into records and found since december, the day care was cited twice for improperly supervising children. the department of children and families is steping in saying in a statement what happened to this child is absolutely unacceptable. we are conducting a child care

hillsborough county we are talking about. >> reporter: that's right keith. an animal abuse registry sounds great. county commissioners are busting their buttons over this one. but, and a big but, critics say this won't save one animal from abuse. animal abuse stories haunt our headlines. the county created an animal abuse registry. it requires people convicted of abusing animals to register prohibits them adopting in the future. it requires buyers in pet stores to sign and affidavit that they are not on the registry. >> when we talk about an affidavit at the pet store, that animal is already out the door, already abused. it doesn't matter if they sign a piece of paper or not. >> reporter: anna think it is ordinance needs more work. that's when the fangs came out. >> there were accusations that

so 20, 30, 40% chance of rain for tomorrow. southern areas probably a little better chance of seeing that shower activity we talked about. in the tropics, not much. about a 20% chance of development over five days for this area. there's puerto rico right there. you can see most of the computer models want to move this to the northwest. next five days, a 60% chance of development for this one we have been talking about for several days now. as we look at the 2016 hurricane season. a number of number of hurricanes, 4. alex, earl, gaston, and hermine. and, the peak of hurricane season, september 10 which is just a couple of days away. rain chance, 30% in the forecast area friday. 30% as well for saturday. also, for sunday. by monday and tuesday, that 30 and 40% chance carries in. that is more of a typical pattern. afternoon, evening showers and storms. and temperatures remain near normal at 90 degrees. a disaster.

not one patch of blue water anymore. >> reporter: steve used to enjoy the view and the wildlife right in his backyard at lake crane in sarasota. but now, it's so green, you can't tell where the grass stops and the water begins. >> even otters in this lake. i don't see the otters anymore. and ... it is not going to go away by itself. >> reporter: steve and others who live around this county owned lake have begged officials for help for months but this green and it is not only the people dealing with this. turtles tried to get in on the interview too. but you can hardly even see them. >> i know, maybe we will get some help. maybe the county will have mercy on you. >> reporter: the county used to spray periodically. but then they stopped showing up and residents couldn't get a straight answer. >> what is it like? >> it's terrible. it is a depleting feeling.
