officer's first dui. jamel lanee joins us where chief anthony holloway spoke earlier. what is he saying about this second dui? >> reporter: well josh, he is definitely not happy. he says his officer was given a second chance and he blue it. >> he refused to blow. so automatically, his license is suspended for a year. >> reporter: saint pete police chief suspended anthony green after she was arrested for driving under the influence. they discovered green behind the wheel of his personal car on golf boulevard last night. >> he was stopped, his vehicle was stopped in the middle of the street. he was found passed out. >> reporter: green, now on leave with no pay. but this is not the officer's first dui arrest. he was also booked back in december of 2009. authorities say he was involved

he was placed on desk duty but allowed back on the streets following a month's suspension following the investigation. green was given a second chance. >> he made a mistake the first time. hopefully, he found the right thing to do, but he didn't. he was out there drinking again. he represents all of us here at the police department. >> reporter: the chief says officers also have the right to do process when arrested. taxpayers believe green should have been let go the first time. >> i don't know. it sou need to get another one. you know. and get him some help. >> reporter: now, when green was arrested back in 2009, he could not drink for five years. and, he had to submit to random testing. now, those five years obviously long gone. so, he wasn't under any stipulations when he was arrested last night. josh? >> now, jamel, green is not the only saint pete police officer to have these dui troubles is that right?

last five years, six officers with this department have been arrested for dui. the chief sent out a memo saying he will not tolerate any bad behavior. >> jamel lanee, live for us in saint pete. thank you. if you have been cheated, when you need help, she's on your side. better call behnken. radioactive material in some residents near the site of the gigantic sink hole are being told not to drink or bathe in their water. reporter shannon behnken joins us no. how scary is that for families? >> reporter: mosaic agreed to test wells for anyone concerned but what is not clear now is whether this radioactive material was caused by mosaic's sink hole. one of two wells on bob glaze's property has so much radium in

>> well, it is muddy water and it shows radioactivity. >> reporter: his tenant shares the wells and she is worried about her three children who until recently drank and bathed in the water. >> i'm not a chemistry student, but i think that is pretty bad. >> reporter: these tests show radium levels of 52.01. more than five times the acceptable standard. she is officials. and, she is leery of what they do tell her. since, the company wasn't forthcoming at first about the accident. >> the thing i really don't respect is that they knew that happened when they had coordinated with the legislateture and didn't report it to the public. >> reporter: the mosaic sink hole dropped more than 215 million gallons of radioactive water into the florida aquifer.

nearby wells and say ten show water that is not safe to drink. but, the company takes no responsibility for this. saying tests show radioactive materials are just a coincidence. >> their concept has been it has to be somebody else's fault. it has to be something else. >> reporter: i checked with experts who said we may never know. it is in fact possible that this radioactive material did not come from the mosaic plant. there are no prior test results to mp water is dangerous. leaving them to question how long they have been drinking radioactive water. late this afternoon, state officials agreed mosaic could be right. they are monitoring water comeing from this sink hole and say test results show that all of the contaminated water has been captured the way it is supposed to and this could be caused by something natural.

it is just awful. what are the officials doing to protect the residents? >> reporter: officials are trying to contact every single resident. as we saw tonight, that is not going as smoothly as it should. so they are trying to reach everyone. make sure they stop drinking the water and they are offering them other methodding for test and remediation. if you need a problem that needs solving, call better call a mother and daughter are fighting for their lives in the hospital after they were hit walking to the bus stop in polk county. the sheriff's office tells us 41-year-old consuelo was walking with her children when two of them were him the two were walking in the road. the driver told investigators he was clearing condensation from his windshield and did not see that family. just, they worked off night. and they got off work.

about the danger of closing albert whited. >> i believe these discharges happened because we closed it. i think that was a huge mistake. >> reporter: askew declined our request for an interview because of the ongoing investigations that his revelations have triggered. council member steven cornell believes his allegations are all true. >> there was a culture in that department of intentionally misleading c environmental price of the sewage spills but the cost to taxpayers is staggers. the city estimates it will take $11 million that you will pay for just to put albert whited back online again. >> i think he had a lot of courage for speaking out. and i think that he was right. and i think now we are going to reopen it. we are working on that. and i think that will solve the problem. >> reporter: that only solves part of the problem, saint
