even killing some animals. tonight, we hear from the owner of that billing. paul mueller joins us live from town and country at the scene and i can still see the smoke behind you paul. >> reporter: yeah, it is still billowing up jen. good evening. the owner as you can imagine is in shock right now. the building you are looking at behind me, 14,000 square feet. a total loss. get a good live look. firefighters demolishing it after getting the flames and inside that building, as you said, two dozen animals. the sad news here, several of them including a monkey, are dead. now, the fire broke out just after 2:00 this afternoon here at renew it supply. this is in the 5800 block of barry road. it is just off the vets. again, 14,000 square feet. paper, pet products, chemicals. at one point, there were several explosions. firefighters forced to run out of the building.

outside. the owner of the building also had animals in connection with a rescue organization. two dogs, 22 cats, six birds, and a monkey. we know a neighbor rescued one of the dogs. several cats escaped. sadly, again, we are told the monkey didn't make it. take a listen to the owner. >> they had access to fresh air and outside but not thinking about a fire. and what the case of a devastating fire. >> one of the problems was what was inside and the sheer size of the building and the fact it was made out of metal. that keeps the heat trapped inside. makes it very difficult for firefighters to put the fire out. >> reporter: there is no word on how long the firefighters will be here tonight. the fire marshal is trying to determine the cause of the fire. no word on the fate of the animals.

have insurance and says he will not rebuild. i'm paul mueller, newschannel8. tonight, many people are mourning a former tampa bay storm and boston college football player. max holloway died in an early morning car crash. chip osowski shows us how the former jefferson high star who returned to the school as a pe teacher and coach is being remembered. >> reporter: max holloway clearly had strong ties here to is why the school district had grief counselors on hand for anyone who needed someone to talk to. jefferson coach danny lee spent a lot of time on the field with max holloway and remembers him as a standout student and player. >> he was all the things that were good about football. um, he was one of the hardest workers. like many dragons who have gone onto good things. you didn't see how hard he

every practice. >> reporter: hillsborough county deputies say holloway was driving his 2008 dodge charger westbound on lutz lake fern road when he failed to negotiate a curve, crashed into a pole, trees and eventually into a house. he died at the scene. holloway's father bryan played ten seasons in the nfl for the raiders and the patriots. after jefferson high max played ball for boston college. and, then, the tampa bay loss. >> i'm devastated. he was a great guy. knew his dad. i knew his little brothers. max was part of our football family. part of my family. >> reporter: the house holloway hit was occupied at the time. no one inside was hurt. the sheriff's office is currently investigating the cause of this accident. in tampa, i'm chip osowski,

five people were killed in a fiery crash including a husband who lost his wife, his youngest daughter and his little boy. as melanie michael tells us, his teenage daughter is among the survivors. >> my biggest thing is i hope they didn't suffer. because, the car did catch on fire. and, there were children in the car. and there's no reason. there is no reason for that to happen. >> marienella and her three lina, were inside the mini van when it burst into flames wednesday night. they were hit head on as they were driving home from church. >> we do question how it happened. you know. why did it happen. >> reporter: according to eyewitnesses, the driver who slammed into the mini van was street racing. investigators tell us 22-year- old pablo cortez was speeding at the time. but there is no evidence to prove he was racing. cortez and his passenger were

involved because they lost someone too. everyone lost someone. but it was something that could have been prevented. >> reporter: melanie michael, newschannel8. >> in lake wales, two suspects are on the loose after robbing and killing a store clerk. check out the footage from the incident at the qp store in lake wales. it shows 48-year-old mohammed alam walking to his car. two people wearing hoodies ambushed him. one person points a pants. then the person shoots him. we spoke to a customer who dropped off flowers at the gas station in the aftermath. >> because he was a nice man. he helped us out. my kids loved him. he even helped this other lady out when her car wasn't working. hopefully, they find who did it because he didn't deserve this. >> in this video, you can see the suspects run off with the victim's pants. if you have any information

>> on wall street today, the dow dropped 29. the s&p lost six. the nasdaq was down 34. twitter is pulling the plug on its vine app. the vine app tweeted out a statement saying the be discontinued. users can still access and download the vines they have already made and the website will stay online. it was created in 2013 for a video sharing app but it has taken a backseat to periscope. twitter is laying off 9% of its staff. this comes after rumors of a sale appear to have fizzled. disney and others appeared to be interested in bidding for the social network, bullet gnatly backed off.

as an independent company. apple revealed the new 15- inch and 13-inch mac book pros. a new graphics card makes it more than twice as fast as the previous model. the 13-inch model features improved speed, and performance. apple also announced a tv app which lets you access en the up next featurelets you toggle between what you are watching on your mobile device and tv so you can pick up where you left off. it will roll out by the end of the year by the way. what apple is not rolling out right now, air pod headphones. the tech giant reportedly says it needs a little more time releasing its new wireless headphones. the air pods are set to be priced at $159. if you have been cheated, when you need help, she's on
