super bowl. good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. well, for the third time in the franchise's 66-year history, the denver broncos are super bowl champions. a game that was billed as a matchup of two of the nfl's best quarterbacks turned into an offensive struggle. peyton manning and cam newton spent much of super bowl 50 pulling themselves off the turf. in the end denver's defense carried the team to a 24-10 victory over carolina, but the big question when the confetti started flying was is this peyton manning's last game? jamie yuccas is in santa clara. >> reporter: if you ask the

say it was peyton manning's swan song. he has been plagued with injuries all year and a chance for him to go to you on top but he isn't saying just yet. >> i got a lot of advice from tony dungy when i was with indianapolis. he said don't make an emotional decision. this has been an emotional week and an emotional night. i a couple of priorities in order. i want to go kiss my wife, kiss my kids, and i want to celebrate with my family and teammates, and i'm going to drink a lot of beer tonight, jim. >> reporter: among questioned reporters, peyton manning remained uncommitted to retiring. by coming out in super bowl 50, he becomes the first quarterback in nfl history to win two super bowls with two different teams. but manning was not the star of the game. the broncos defense was in cam newton's face all night, sacking him seven times to tie a super bowl record. the defense also scored on a fumble recovery in the first quarter to give denver an early ten-point lead. and another forced fumble late in the fourth quarter set up

the game. by leading the defensive unit, linebacker von miller took home the most available player award. one night after being named the nfl's mvp, cam newton's super bowl debut did not go well. he turned the ball over three times and did not account for a touchdown for the first time this season. >> they just played better than us. i don't know what you want me to say. >> reporter: there was more than just football on display at levi stadium. o say can you see things off with a stirring rendition of the national anthem. while coldplay and beyonce and bruno mars dazzled during halftime. and when it was all over, fans may have seen peyton manning walk off the field one last time it was an emotional night for the broncos organization.

dedicated the game to the team's owner pat bowlen who is at home in denver fighting alzheimer's disease. >> jamie yuccas in santa clara, thanks. bronco fans took to the streets of denver to celebrate, of course. it was largely peaceful but a few people acted up. there were at least 11 arrests. a few bottles and rocks were thrown. a police car window was broken and police were forced to use chemical spray on several occasions. new hampshire voters go to the polls tomorrow in the first primary of the 2016 campaign. hillary clinton is trying to chip away at bernie sanders' looking to rebound from his second-place finish in the iowa caucuses. a just released poll shows trump leads all other republican candidates by double digits in new hampshire, but there is a crowded field in the race for second place. on the democratic race, the race has tightened somewhat, but bernie sanders maintains a ten-point lead over hillary

new hampshire. >> reporter: good morning. this first primary could be a make or break situation for several lagging campaigns, but political analysts say a lot of voters here tend to wait until the very last minute, in many cases, until tomorrow, to pick a candidate, so it's impossible to really tell what could happen. just one day before the new hampshire primary, donald trump is hoping to stay ahead of his fellow republican rivals and secure a win on tuesday. >> i'm $40 million under budget and i'm number one in the polls, all right? >> we are going to win new hampshire in the general election and we are going to turn this country back around. >> reporter: following a less than stellar debate performance over the weekend, marco rubio is locked in a battle between ted cruz and jeb bush and john kasich who held his 101st town hall in new hampshire on sunday. >> the strong finish here is essential for us and we are

is going to happen. >> i know i've got an uphill climb. >> reporter: as hillary clinton steadily closes the gap with bernie sanders, her husband, former president bill clinton, took sanders to task for so-called sexist and inaccurate remarks against his wife. >> when you're in a revolution, you can't be too careful about the facts. >> reporter: as candidates on both sides ramp up their attacks, undecided voters here in new hampshire continue to weigh their options. >> a lot of work. there are a lot of problems, and i'm trying to find the best problem solver. as a republican, i'm looking for a more in the middle conservative, very rational thinker. >> reporter: voters in new hampshire are known for making a decision at the very last minute. with so many still undecided, the outcome for tomorrow's first in the primary nation remains unclear. voters here in new hampshire tend to choose more moderate candidates than in iowa and especially on the gop side. as for the democrats, clinton aides are concerned a big win

headway among female and minority voters in south carolina and nevada, the next two races, and those are two groups that clinton is banking on. >> weijia jiang in manchester, thank you very much. we will talk to donald trump about the new hampshire primary and his campaign coming up on "cbs this morning." this morning, a major storm system is moving up the east england. a blizzard warning has been issued for southeast massachusetts where up to 18 inches of snow could fall today. public schools are closed today in boston and providence, rhode island. the storm caused rough seas as it moved up the coast off the south carolina coast. a cruise ship, royal caribbean anthem of the seas was forced to change course but it was still tossed around. meanwhile, another storm system is already producing blizzard-like conditions in parts of minnesota and the lower northern plains.

the somali government says last tuesday's explosion on board a passenger jet was an act of terrorism. airport security video shows two men handing what looks like a laptop computer to the suspected suicide bomber after he passed through the security checkpoint. at least one of the men was an airport employee. at least 20 people have been arrested in connection with the explosion. the u.s. olympic committee reportedly says american athletes should consider skipping the summer games if they are worried about the zika virus, according to reuters. the games will be held this august in the country hardest hit by the outbreak, brazil. despite the fears, millions are still partying during carnivals in rio. the u.n. security council is condemning north korea's launch of a long-range rocket. kim jong-un ordered yesterday's launch which he claims put a satellite into orbit. photos released by the north showed him watching the launch. the u.s. fears he wants to build

posing in a controversial photo. the image shows former detective timothy mcdermott on the right holding a rifle and posing over a black man as a trophy. it was taken between 1999 and 2003. mcdermott was allowed to keep investigating police shootings and homicide for yearly a year fter a federal prosecutor had provided the department with the photo. the sun herald of biloxi reports a gunfire at a mardi gras parade in mississippi left two people dead and two wounded. shots rang out in pass christian yesterday. police say it started as a fight and then escalated to gunfire two blocks away from the parade route. "the new york times" reports former secretary of state madeleine albright, and feminist gloria steinem called on women to support hillary clinton. >> just remember. there is a special place in hell for women who don't help each other. >> explaining difficulties

hampshire, albright said women can be judgmental and sometimes forget how hard clinton worked to get to where she is. steinem suggested young women are supporting sanders for the opportunity to meet young men, but later apologized for that. stage for a tribute to iconic halftime performances and national anthems and the performers who've passed. beyonce stole the show in more ways than one. she announced her first solo stadium tour during the super bowl. the 40 stadium stint starts on april 27th in miami and wraps up in june in pennsylvania. during the game, marshawn lynch had an announcement of his own. the player known as beast mode tweeted this shot during the second half. his cleats hanging up and the international emjoi for peace out. the seahawks confirmed lynch's retirement. the grammys have added another big name for an already impressive lineup. taylor swift will take the stage, joining adele, justin bieber and lady gaga, among other performers. gaga, who nailed the national anthem at the super bowl, hs already said she would be performing a tribute to david bowie. don't miss a minute of the grammys that is right here on cbs on february 15th.
