a manhunt is underway after an early morning stabbing. >> police say 3:00 this morning a person walking in the area of 4th street south and dolly boulevard found a woman on the ground, stabbed multiple times. we're hearing she was not seriously injured but she says a man came up on her riding a bike and came from behind her and stabbed her. >> if any information, please call st. pete police. a tragic scene in lakeland, firefighters found the bodies of two people and dog in a burning mobile home. that fire started after 1:00 this morning. >> a witness called 911 but by the time firefighters got there it was too late. abc action news reporter lindsay logue is live on old polk city road. you talked to fire investigators. started? >> reporter: the fire investigators at the scene say the fire started at the front end of the home so the end closest to us and the end with the most amount of damage. it's going to be the area

as far as exactly what started it, we're still waiting on those test results to come back but should have those in the hour. a charred wooden frame is barely holding up what is left of the roof that partially collapsed between the living room and kitchen. the flames bushed hot and fast, by the time firefighters got on scene they say 3/4 of the mobile home was on fire. and windows. it took them 10 minutes to get it under control, to a point where it was safe for them to go inside. when they did they found the bodies of a man and woman in the bedroom area toward the back of the home. died. three other dogs are ok, one is broken leg. a sign it was trying to escape from the smoke and flames. at this hour the sheriff's office, polk county sheriff's office hasn't identified either of the people found in this

on the medical examiner to tell us exactly how they died. live in lakeland, lindsay logue, abc action news. 9:03. breaking news in democracy 2016 -- ted cruz getting the final win of super tuesday in alaska, in a tight race donald trump. as projected though trump and clinton won most of the states and delegates. look at the super tuesday results on the republican side, donald trump in red, won a total of seven states, extending his delegate lead. the states, arkansas, alabama, georgia, tennessee, virginia, massachusetts and vermont. ted cruz wins three states, home state of texas, he also won oklahoma and alaska. marco rubio finally wins a state, he took minnesota. let's check the democratic side. hillary clinton taking leads extending her delegate lead over bernie sanders, she also won seven states. those include texas, arkansas,

virginia and massachusetts. sanders did win four states, colorado, minnesota, oklahoma, and his home state of vermont. this all setting the stage now for the florida primary coming up in a couple of weeks. coming up at 9:30, we'll tell you how some candidates are planning their campaigns around the sunshine state. some democrats are sharing their strategy, one they are using in the primary election with the ultimate goal of winning the general election. it's called rating. here's how it works, they switched parties and vote republican in the primary. we have the primary votes going to donald trump. democratic voters believe it will be easier to beat trump instead of marco rubio. >> probably get nominated but i don't think he'll beat hillary even though i would prefer to vote for sanders. >> other democrats say they switched parties to vote against trump just because they don't want trump to win. a palm harbor family is hoping you can help bring a loved one home who may be in

bruce b downs to i-4. just about 9:07. janelle, as folks head out to hit the roads, they will expect to pay more to fill tanks. gas prices jumped overnight about a dime on average. some stations i passed shot up 20 cents from yesterday morning to this morning. aaa shows tampa bay gas prices increased from $1.64 last night to $1.75 for regular this morning. that is still a little lower than the state average of $1.81. the national average is now at $1.78. experts say expect those prices to keep climbing for the time being. why is that? greg, a senior petroleum analyst says it's because refineries are switching from the winter to summer blends. crude oil prices are rising. experts say it won't get as high as $3 are a gallon though this year. >> i think conservatively we can expect to see prices peak

today hillsborough county leads are going to consider a measure that requires more businesses to put up signs just like those. a similar measure went into yesterday. hulk hogan's lawyers are going to work at narrowing a pool of jurors for his legal fight. he's suing the web site dwawker for releasing parts of his sex tape. there's a lot at stake for gawker which could go bankrupt if it loses. opening statements in the case set for monday. sheriff judd is under attack for revealing too much in an undercover operation. advocates in the lgbt community say he outed for transgender women during a recent news conference about a prostitution sting. although the gender identity for suspects is public record advocates say the sheriff didn't have to highlight them and humiliate them further. but the sheriff says all four in question had posted ads on back page.com.

9:14. the u.s. geological survey reporting a shallow 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of indonesia. this map shows the location. the country has issued a tsunami warning, there are no immediate reports of damage or casualties. shallower earthquakes though are more likely to cause damage but this one was as you see we'll continue to follow this and bring you updates. today a southwest ohio school district will open its doors once again to students after a shooting earlier this week. classes at madison local schools will begin again this morning. school is reopening just two days after 14-year-old austin hancock allegedly shot students at a middle school cafeteria.

victims hit by shrapnel in the shooting. >> i have two pieces of shrapnel in my leg, one in my upper thigh and one in my calf. >> crisis counselors will be on hand. hancock remains in juvenile detention after denying charges in a court hearing yesterday. a north carolina public charter school is being taken to court over its dress code. parents of three girls say it's discriminatory that girls aren't allowed to wear pants or shorts to school. the uniform policy says girls can only wear skirts, supreme court or jumper dresses, go, scorts or jumper dresses except under special circumstances. the principal said it was -- >> the parents say it's outdated and puts their kids in danger especially in the wintertime. >> it's 19 degrees out and she's -- she's so cold that she's crying she doesn't want to put on a skirt.

underwear under their pants. >> in a statement an attorney for the school says it complies with north carolina's state law when it comes to the uniform policy. he also says the dress code doesn't discriminate against girls and says parents and students know what is acceptable ahead of time. a school counselor in indianapolis is accused of having sex with two students. investigators say some of the encounters happened in her office while class was in session. shana taylor made her first court appearance yesterday, facing child seduction charges. according to court documents a mom learned about their inappropriate relationship and told the assistant principal. the student told investigators he had sex with taylor at school, her house and a hotel. the school has placed taylor on administrative leave. this morning we're waiting to find out the condition of a man thrown off a wagon at a rodeo in houston, texas. he was rounding that corner during a wagon race when he lost his balance and fell off. it happened last night during the opening night of the

a.m. i do go upstairs and look at the sky so don't worry, i know what i'm talking about. first of all your photos, it's that time of day as we check in with rocky, in st. pete. yes, we did have sunrise. and earlier this morning, much more humid. did you feel it? temperatures. what is going on, a southerly wind ahead of a front that has pulled in the temperatures from the south and earlier today we were running anywhere from 15 to as high, as much as 25 degrees warmer than this time yesterday. on. once the front moves in we're going to see patchy sprinkles, that is about it. widening out the shot it's to. yesterday is what brought the southeast. even tornado touchdowns. national weather service in alabama today surveying that of tornadoes hit. not only are we not going to get severe weather but no thunderstorms, no heavy rain. in fact all of the energy headed off to the north and

front here, that is it, just clouds, a couple of showers at most. then we'll get ready for this next system also a weak front moving through. that will head in on friday. and get us ready for the weekend. look at friday, by the time you head home it's going to be fantastic. blue skies and the weekend looks great with high pressure building in. so a couple of systems, one today, one friday. both weak, a couple of showers. the rest of the forecast looks fantastic with temperatures in the mid-70s, north and west. further south and east a little bit warmer there as you get more sunshine with temperatures in the upper 70s to lower 80s. look what happens tomorrow morning, unlike this morning. the drier air will allow for temperatures to fall back into the 50s. so you need a jacket in the morning but not by the afternoon. we'll warp up wednesday again. behind the front northwest winds 10 to 15, two to three- foot seas, there are the tides and sunrise and sunset. 6:31. it will be later than that. as we set the clocks forward

ever wondered what your dog or cat does and if they get lonely while at work or school all day, you can interact with them even when you're away. a growing number of gadgets will let you not only watch them but talk to them too. some devices out now will even let you give them a treat. a device even lets pets call their owners with just the push of a button. according to the american pet products association americans spent more than $60 billion on their pets last year. but experts caution pet owners, don't rely on gadgets as a substitute for spending time with them. speaking of dogs, a california farm got busier after the owner's sheep dog one litter.

the state for largest litter ever recorded. mama pup named stella gave birth last week. 11 males, six females, all going to neighboring california farms to help with livestock protection. a normal litter is just six to eight puppies. the guinness world record for the largest litter though is 24. we have to use the stairs or elevator any time we want to go from the first to the second floor at work. one company in los angeles, they are putting a twist on how people get from one floor to the next. >> i'll stick to the stairs or elevator. adding a 36-foot-long glass slide that hovers outside the 69th floor of the building. you have to see it. >> i don't want to. >> it's called the sky slide. 26-foot long fully enclosed glass slide will be 1,000 feet high on the u.s. bank tower in downtown los angeles. that tower has 72 floors total by the way.

states last night including his home state of vermont. checking the delegate totals, right now trump leads all others, his delegate total 315, 1,237 needed for nomination. ted cruz is second place. his delegate total now 205. marco rubio checks in at third place, he has 106. let's check the democratic side, hillary clinton topping the 1,000 mark, as far as delegates. she now has 1,055. for the democrats, 2,883 delegates are needed. bernie sanders now has a total of 418 after super tuesday voting. the focus of the campaign for most of the candidates shifts to florida. our primary set from two weeks from yesterday, march 15th. abc action news reporter rodney dunigan joins us live from the cuban club in ybor city with florida's impact on this race. candidates have already hit the

>> reporter: that's right. in fact a number of the candidates have started to open campaign offices right here in the state of florida. in fact hillary clinton will be opening one at the cuban club later today. supporters have a major campaign and party set for this evening at 6:00 this evening. in fact the mayor of tampla will be here to help kick things off. this is a start of a busy two weeks as the candidates crisscross the state looking for votes. many of the candidates are quietly ramping up their efforts in florida. with campaign offices opening and field operations picking up. political experts believe that the state is a true test market of a campaign's ability to win across the nation. on the democratic side early polling indicates that florida favors hillary clinton, the former secretary of state making a major push here, already with six campaign offices and more coming. celebrating her super tuesday numbers with supporters in miami. we're going to work for every

children uprooted to other day cares but thankfully still alive after a car crashed into venice. four toddlers and adult caregiver are recovering. troopers say yesterday morning a grand mother dropping off her grandson at the academy of greative learning, thought -- creative learning, thought she was in reverse but not. had he slammed into the cinder block wall. just inside, 15 children. they had just scrapes and bruises. >> on the big picture -- the big picture, is everybody walked out of here and everybody is safe. so, that is all that matters. everything else can be repaired. >> because of the damage the children will go to other facilities for the next several weeks. the driver was cited with careless driving and driving on an expired license. daytona beach police trying to track down the person that posted a horrible photo to facebook showing a dog with its mouth taped shut. that picture surfaced over the weekend.

the dog was being disciplined, the person claims the tape was stretchable, allowing it to come off and on without injuring the dog. this morning police and animal control officers are trying to determine if any charges though should be filed. we're awaiting a judge's decision on whether a former lakeland high school football star will be charged with a hate crime. we told but this incident involving stewart butler last may when arrested for beating twowp gay men kissing on a street corner in west virginia. he pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor battery and several violations. he was dismissed from the football team. the judge's decision is expected in about a month. pasco county deputy out of a job after accusations he broke the law. steven leblanc could face criminal charges. the sheriff says he targeted a known drug user thomas parisi.

a nightmare in the making. that truck popped open and a little kid, a toddler falls out in the middle of the busy highway this. happened over the weekend in china. officials say the driver of that car with the dash cam stopped rushed over to help the child before damage could be done. any injuries could be suffered. luckily the 2-year-old wasn't seriously hurt. other drivers flagged down the grandparents, didn't even know they had lost their grandson. no word now on if the grandparents are going to face charges for not properly securing that child. >> scary video. an investigation is underway into a train derailment that forced dozens of people to evacuate their homes. near buffalo, new york. the freight train derailed last night and leaked ethanol. firefighters evacuated at least 50 nearby homes as crews contained the leak. no reports of injuries. an suv slams into a packed massachusetts restaurant killing two people and injuring seven others. this morning investigators are

suv crashed into the sweet tomatoes in newton, officials say the car didn't even slow down before barreling into the building. a witness says the vehicle went all the way through the restaurant, and ended up in the back where the oven is. the driver survived, in a hospital in fair condition. this is four people now hurt in alabama from yesterday's tornadoes. severe weather rolling through leaving a trail of damage. this is in southwest birmingham there in alabama. new video showing the toll of the storms, at a church, in fact one home leveled. emergency officials say they are going home-to-home to make sure everyone is ok. and by the way the national weather service will be out there surveying the damage, power outages as well. they will be able to tell us of course whether that damage was caused by a tornado, probably was. and certainly what kind of intensity we're talking about. >> they've had such bad weather.

typically this time of year you don't get it unless you get the different air masses clashing. that is because of the el nino. one difference, that very system is on top of us now. so why no severe weather? well, with this one and with the next one coming up here, we're beginning to lose that aspect of it. the energy going up to the north so we get the trailing front and that is it. not just severe weather but no thunderstorms. as it moved through yesterday, polling places stopped for a while in fact with super tuesday as a result of the storms. nine reported tornadoes -- or nine tornado reports probably from the same cell. so again we'll wait to see what they come up with as far as the damage goes. there's the front, again everything moving southeast but the energy headed to the north and east, without this piece here, you don't get the severe weather and that is what we have going today. just a few sprinkles, that is about it. and clouds rolling in. titan doppler radar, as we tighten the shot, not much

the guest of honor, among the most recognized gardening and design experts in the country. we're talking about p. allen smith, host of several gardening shows on pbs nationwide. smith will be hosting the fresh flower and garden market saturday. it's open to the public, free to everyone and then it's followed by a charity luncheon and a gala dinner benefiting the habitat for humanity of pinellas. andy craft joins us with colby coustic who is the marketing team manager at the club of treasure island. thank you for the flowers. >> this guy is a super big deal. dan shaffer is yikes i had. so how did you -- feel when you realized my gosh, p. allen smith is coming? >> we were so excited. habitat for humanity is our largest fundraiser, the goal is to build three homes for three families in pinellas county. because it was a great gardens theme who better to represent

than p. allen smith. we're excited for that and the luncheon as well. >> colby, tell us how you were for a luncheon to benefit habitat for humanity. then the club decided to do something for everyone else to attend? >> it started with the blueprint gala and exploded in to a really exciting outdoor flower and garden market we're going to be transforming our outdoor event. so where excited as a private club to have this free event hope to the public. >> from 20 10*:30 to 12 dosmed -- >> it's 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. so plenty of chances to get beautiful flowers. free admission. though we would appreciate a donate to habitat for humanity. but yeah, we have some landscapers there. they will be selling wonderful plants. >> i know that p. allen smith is a man of many talents. you brought his cookbook and your chef has been pouring over
