spice users here at the er? you have seen the videos. violent incoherent users high on spice in a mad rage. he tried to jump out a window after one hit. >> it's like looking at the walking dead. >> reporter: people are using and selling and reacting. just on monday she took this video of paramedics working on a woman unconscious after using spice. >> he is eating it like candy out of a bag. >> reporter: they have responded to 30 calls of people overdosing on spice. 12 calls alone in one day. >> this is the affects of spice. >> reporter: in all of february they only responded to 17 spice related calls. >> this is a dangerous drug and should be avoided at all costs. >> reporter: a new chemical compound or bad batch is

cases. you can buy it legally almost anywhere. since the state laws can't keep up with the compounds. >> the problem is the user says i did that drug six months ago and nothing bad happened but this time i'm having seizures and delirium and out of my mind. >> reporter: doctors at tampa general hospital report heart conditions in the young and old for those tempted to try it because they think it's more again. high. >> reporter: a high that could end your life like it did for one patient this weekend. >> reporter: we're told one of the patients here at tgh told doctors she tried spice because she thought it was safer than marijuana and still pass a drug test at work. after one hit she landed here at the hospital.

going in depth on the spice problem. the national institute on drug abuse calling it the second most popular among teenagers now. 11% of american high school seniors used synthetic marijuana in the past year and it resulted in 11,000 emergency room visits in 2010. 75% of visits involved visits of people under the age of 29. officers say samuel alicia walked into the police department this morning and went into the public bathroom in the lobby. minutes later officers say they heard a loud thump so they went in and found him unconscious on floor.

his year in space gave him a lot of experience. the roar of race cars over downtown saint pete this weekend for the firestone grand prix. more than 25,000 spectators take to the street. >> reporter: lots of money and city leaders saying a $48 million economic impact. they are spending money at the hilton and the irish pub. the owner says business doubles with race fans. this race helps put the bar and others near it on the map. we do very well for this spot here off the beaten path.

majestic looking there out over the rise. we love our sunsets with good reason, especially this week as we have warm temperatures even the water is warming up now. this has been an issue for the last three days. they have seen over 20 inches of rain across part of louisiana and mississippi over the last three days. there's more rain rolling in. over the next 6-12 hours the bulk of this energy starts lifting north. when it does, finally what's left of it is coming in our area. folks looking for rain to clean the pollen out of the air. it won't be a huge deal. we are talking about the grand prix in saint pete and the last day of the strawberry festival so there's rain around sunday but not a wash out. i wouldn't change plans. you will be dodging showers like we often do in the summertime for that matter.

the upper 80s today and some areas down south most of us hit the 80s and tampa hit 85 degrees. we were close to the record of 87. outside now tampa as saint pete and clearwater checking in at mostly sunny and winds coming off the gulf will cool things off along the sea breeze and tomorrow you will see more difference between the coastal areas with that sea breeze and inland areas back in the low to mid 80s. normally we should be 76. satellite today -- sun and clouds mixed in and exact same thing tomorrow. the difference is i do think we will see fog in the morning. po chi fog and dense in some areas. visibility especially east of i-75 less than a mile.

sunday we have to watch in terms of rain. again, not a wash out but first thing in the morning clouds and showers trying to come in and they roll into the afternoon and evening lingering into first thing on monday morning. check us out first thing tomorrow morning as we fine tune the timing of the rainfall. the good news is most follow most folks seeing seeing showers. remember you lose an hour of sleep tomorrow night. why don't they do that on the weekdays? 83 on saturday and 81 sunday. next week a little above normal but at least the rain chances back down. hello folks, the buccaneers have landed.
